Black, White, and Green again

Thank you to everyone who submitted requests for inspiration boards. Here are the first four, which coincidentally each had bits of blue in them! It was certainly a challenge to differentiate each, but I hope you like them!

Kelly is marrying in August of this year and has chosen a color theme of black white and green. She’s going for a laid back vibe.

Reader Maureen writes in to ask:

Driving along today, I pass a billboard for Banana Republic.  It’s black and white, with a lovely damask pattern, and there is a model in an apple green coat.  I adore black and white, but green?!  Yes green!  It looked amazing together!  I wish I could find a picture of the billboard but instead I’ve been hunting around for some pictures to make a black, white, and apple green event look just as perfect as that ad campaign.

After having their day postponed from Covid, Rhea’Lynn and Christian were finally able to celebrate their wedding day at One Eleven East. With a mid-century meets organic design it was absolutely breathtaking.

Sarah and Scott originally had a large celebration planned, but like many other brides, COVID changed that. In a cautious manner they decided to move forward with their wedding with just their 12 closest family and friends. Despite the small guest count, the design aspect was large. Their outdoor ceremony took place surrounded by banyan trees under the most stunning Chuppah. Reception was followed with the most divine tent with flowing florals and hints of citrus.

European romance comes to sunny California in this romantic wedding inspiration photographed by Renee Lemaire Photography. Inspired by the architecture of the venue, Kestrel Park, this team of vendors lead by planner Weddings by Susan Dunne captured the effortless elegance of the Provençial garden style. The classic color palette of French blue and cream perfectly complements the chateau-like setting. A tree-lined drive was the ideal ceremony setting, especially with the addition of lush florals and greenery by Mulberry and Moss. After an intimate al fresco garden reception, a black vintage speedster convertible was the ultimate getaway.

Like many couples of 2020, Anjali and Sam had to get creative with their wedding planning because of COVID. For the safety of their guests, they decided to have their wedding ceremony in the bride’s aunt’s garden at sunset for an intimate and romantic celebration. The ceremony arch by Ellamah Floral was the star of the show and the perfect backdrop for the backyard nuptials. It was a whole family effort, with the groom’s uncle officiated the touching ceremony. Sarah & Benjamin wanted guests to feel like they were entering a magical world when they arrived at their wedding and the day was full of awe-inspiring details which made that vision a reality. From getting married at the castle-like Wonderland Cluj Resort, to the horse-drawn carriage fit for royalty, to the show-stopping, jaw-droppingly lush, floor-to-ceiling florals by Elena Bodea – Las Floristas that filled both the ceremony and reception, guests were transported into a fairy tale for the day. Add to that that these two look like they walked out of a magazine themselves, and this may be one of the most dreamy weddings ever! Avery and Chris met at law school in Alabama but then moved to Georgetown where they continued to fall in love with not only each other, but with DC as well, so it’s no surprise that when they started planning their wedding, they wanted to share those loves with all their friends and family! It was an amazingly elegant weekend, starting with a gorgeous rehearsal dinner on Friday evening, and then a Saturday reception at Potomac View Terrace (APHA) where guests enjoyed incredible views of the Lincoln Memorial and Capital Building. They went with a classy and chic monochrome palette of ivory and gold for their tablescapes, incorporating both tall and short arrangements of white hydrangea, roses, and flowering branches from Duran Floral Design. When you find out that Christine and Michael’s guest list consisted of family from 19 different states, you’ll wonder like us how they accommodated every single one of them. They happened upon Morristown, New Jersey because of its proximity to major airports and train stations: a huge plus. What they really lucked out on was The Madison Hotel-Conservatory. Cassi Claire Photography captured the breathtaking venue and its high glass walls, stark white interior with a slight industrial vibe, and the abundance of flowers already perched inside. The couple wanted to keep their colors simple, so they opted for a classic color palette so as not to detract from the conservatory itself. Apple Blossom Flower Shop created pieces with white flowers front and center and heaps of greenery strewn throughout, from the bouquets to the centerpieces. Check out local conservatories for their wedding availability; they are usually decked out in impressive flora and fauna already and are such a unique option for wedding venues.

Gina and Joe’s story begins like so many others in this generation: via a dating app and an awkward first date. Despite the fact Joe was not a Francophile and “avoided all of the French words” at the French restaurant they ate at, the pair met up again and the rest was history. Before they knew it, they were planning a wedding in Temecula’s wine country with Ashley Bee Photography documenting their day. Purple was common favorite color between the two of them, yet they wanted to break up the hues with various shades. Mauve, gold, and the deep brown wood interior at Wiens Family Cellar created a classic and rustic feel. Gina and Joe are fond of the outdoors, yet due to the weather and the season, they opted to stay warm and cozy inside. Despite this, they wanted to extract those aspects of the outdoors they love and add them into their indoor venue. Long, wooden tables mostly exposed with Sweet Flowers’ wildflower-esque creations gave this nature-loving couple exactly the motif they wanted, and it’s a treat for us all too!

Editorial photographer Lianna from Lianna Marie Photography wanted to achieve one primary objective in this lush-colored wedding styled shoot: to showcase a soft and pastel-colored wedding in the heart of Vegas instead of the flashy swankiness that we all imagine when we think of the Entertainment Capital of the World. Lianna and her team of professional wedding vendors created a fine art wedding in the heart of Las Vegas at the Las Vegas Country Club. They created an oasis of summertime charm, luxe romance, and total elegance. It is undeniable that a huge focal point in this shoot are the sherbet and candy-colored blooms hailing from Layers of Lovely. Peonies, garden roses, spirea, ranunculus, and butterfly ranunculus in every shade of coral and pink under the sun are so pleasing to the eye. If you do nothing else today, make sure you check this wedding inspiration out.

Fall evokes the dreamiest of color palettes and also some of the most innovative pairings, we think. Brittany and Adam married near the tail-end of the fall season where society’s color palette has started gravitating away from oranges and bright reds into deeper tones. Darker reds and moodier colors like their choice of burgundy and navy blue are spot on for this time of year. We love how Elle and Jaye Events transformed JW Marriott Las Vegas into a romantic, fall wonderland with burgundy, gold, and navy blue woven together. With Susie and Will and all of the vendors strutting their best stuff for Brittany and Adam’s wedding, the result was exceptionally beautiful.

There are some locations on this planet that just leave us in awe and the south of France is certainly one of them. This Provençal inspiration is in the most decadent of places and we couldn’t dream it up better if we tried. Alicia from Alicia Yarrish Photography was in her photographic element. Lavender fields and craggy, rocky lookout points gave way to dramatic landscape photographs while a private French chateau was the setting for the intimate elopement. Sophie Epton was inspired by the surroundings and ultimately, a soft, neutral, pastel palette mimicked the land. The most impressive story came via the florists, Remi and Gold, who hauled the beautiful blooms from Paris and they survived the eight-hour trek. No stone was left unturned with this elegant editorial.

Almost instantly, a wedding in Washington, DC has visions of ultimate grandeur. Jen and Nick wed in the early spring at the Four Seasons and they left no stone unturned when it came to the ins and outs of their wedding design. Jen’s favorite blooms are the ever-stunning and lush magnolias and with that color inspiration as their jumping point, they coveted a white/ivory and green wedding with gold accents. Florist Amy from Amy Lauren Floral Designs expressed and continued the color palette by using sumptuous white peonies and white roses along with the glossy magnolia leaves. This wedding has too many impeccable elements to it, both in design and in personality. We’re just glad that Kristen Gardner captured all the splendor in full!

French chateaus like Chateau de Courtomer always evoke the most dreamy and romantic of visions in our heads. Their exterior façades are striking and their interior motifs are draped in splendor and is a fine reminder of a time of French opulence. This editorial from the lens of Alexi Lee Photography is incredibly luxe and so fitting for the setting. Elegant and modern, the shoot has a foundational palette of black, white, and burgundy with florals by Oleander Curated harnessing brilliant peachy pinks and an abundance of greenery. This shoot is refined and wild all rolled in one.

Any way you spin the color green in a wedding palette, it is quite the versatile shade. From soft pastels like mint or sage to deep hues like the beautiful emerald or hunter green, you can easily use this earthy color at any wedding during any time of the year if you fancy it. It’s so timeless and we’re glad that wedding extraordinaires like Olive Fine Weddings & Events and Alexandra Lee ran on the same wavelength as us. This styled shoot has a hefty helping of green all over it, and if you take out the seemingly wintry elements to this inspo, you can readily use it all throughout the year. The luxe blooms by Willrett Flower Co. (check out the installation framing the sweetheart table!) may need some tweaking when it comes to what’s in season and what’s in your area, but no matter if you’re a spring or summer bride-to-be eyeing this shade of green, you’ll certainly get the same gorgeous effect that Alexandra snapped for us.

Audrey and David had the absolute privilege at marrying at a beautiful French chateau and with the smiles on both of their faces in various photos from Romain Vaucher, their day was beyond joyful and seeped out everywhere. After a proposal in Japan, the two found Chateau de Razay to call their wedding venue. Japan is near and dear to them, so they wanted to bring the colors of a Japanese spring to their wedding, using white and green with blush pink peppered across their decor. Their ceremony was steeped in Madagascan traditions in homage to David’s heritage. The groomsmen wore Malagasy hats and the service was conducted under the Madagascan church. For motif, we love they went simple with their colors; a chateau almost never needs any excessive decor and allowing the chateau’s present decor shine like Audrey and David did will create such a memorable experience.

Hands down, an all-white wedding is the utter classic wedding palette. It will go down in wedding inspiration history as one of our favorites here on EAD. As simple as it is, a white color scheme can make a wedding feel so luxurious and elegant and the varieties are endless. In this captivating Flora Bloom Photography editorial at the bright white Venue 1902, Pearl White Events (how perfect) opted for a soft, creamy white and ran amok with it. The venue is painted in a stark white, so gingerly toning the room down with ivory linen-clad tables dotted with blush and gold details and foliage was an exquisite idea. Punctuating it with a cleanly-done ceremony section with heaps of green space and a brick-lined lounge area makes this styled shoot chic, modern, and timeless to boot.
