Blue: Floral

There is so much gorgeous inspiration in this collaboration shoot between Kristyn Hogan and the talented team at Historic Cedarwood, and we love it all! Amber Housley created the lovely floral stationery and helped direct the styling of this bridal party tea in the garden. Eclectic linens from Urban Outfitters ground the tables for a collection vintage dishware and vases on top, filled with bold blooms and some of the prettiest teacups we’ve ever seen! The bridal party sipped pink Champagne from Le Grande Courtage while playing dress-up in amazing gowns from The Bride Room and accessories by Beatrice Couture Designs styled by Opulent Couturier. And aren’t you just in love with the playful side pony styled by Jessica Jones? Run, don’t walk, to the gallery to soak up all of the inspiration!

Ahhh. This styled shoot is frothy and girly and just a breath of fresh air—which is great, because we’re left nearly breathless by the gorgeous styling from Maine Seasons Events and the stunning blooms from Floral Fauna. Turquoise milk glass, gold, and tons of pink work together to create the fabulous tabletop decor. And those custom ruffled swags on the tables? We’re in love! The simple texture of the cake from Nothing Bakes Like a Parrott shimmers thanks to exquisite gold detailing, and we adore the letterpress stationery by Gus & Ruby Letterpress and hand-calligraphed by Neither Snow. The models’ gowns from LulaKate look like dresses straight out of a fairy tale—which pretty much sums up why this shoot is one of our favorites of the year! We hope these oh-so-pretty images from Corbin Gurkin Photography make your day like they made ours!

Today’s styled shoot from Justin & Mary pulls inspiration from the landscape and water surrounding Elihu Island near Stonington, Connecticut. Hana Floral Design and Boutique used natural elements like wildflowers and mixed them with more classic blue and cream arrangements to create a rustic but elegant look. We love the casual brown paper mixed with sweet blue ribbon on stationery from Chocolate Creative Design! The Union Baptist Church grounds are a pastoral backdrop for the model’s gown and the bright blue bridesmaids dresses from The Wedding Embassy—and how about that fur stole! We love how these images strike the perfect balance of sophisticated style in a casual country location.

Today’s Friday Flowers is pure sophisticated elegance! Working with the beautiful setting of Scottsdale’s Country Club at DC Ranch, Petal Pusher and Stephanie Fay Photography created a vibrant tabletop and dessert table in shades of deep fuchsia, royal blue, and gold. We adore all of the elegant touches, including calligraphy menus by LittleOwl Letterpress and gorgeous flowing chair covers from Wildflower Linen, and are completely over the moon for the embossed gold cake created by Classic Cakes and Confections (and the sparkly dessert table backdrop too!). Prepare to swoon over all of the glamorous details!

Hydrangeas are right up there with the most summery flowers, don’t you think? I love to walk around my neighborhood on a summer afternoon and check out the beautiful cloud-like hydrangea blooms in front of everyone’s houses. They come in a rainbow of colors: white, purple, pink, even green, but my all-time favorite are the blue! It’s no surprise that they are a popular choice for many brides. From bouquets of just a couple lone hydrangea blooms to larger arrangements where it’s just used as an accent, I love when blue hydrangea is used in weddings!

Hello everyone! Hope you all have enjoyed indigo week here at EAD. Of course it’s Friday, so we’re celebrating the end of the week with some wonderful moody indigo blue flower arrangements. Some gorgeous blue flowers to keep in mind are thistle, delphinium, nigella, and hydrangea.

It’s taken just about every bit of restraint I’ve got to keep myself from driving to the beach in this incredible weather. Anyone else with me on that? For now we’ll have to settle for living vicariously through this gorgeous nautical shoot from Brooke Roberts Photography. I can feel the breeze now on this glorious Jekyll Island wharf, and taste the delicious seafood placed so beautifully on this table set for two. And those perfectly blue and white florals by English Gardens? Simply divine. The natural, rustic beauty of this seaside shoot will keep me from driving to the beach…at least until the weekend!

Remember when we wrote that we were gaga for chevron?   Well if that didn’t convince you that chevron is the hottest pattern going, this lovely inspiration shoot from Jamie Sears of Simply Chic Events will!  Jamie set out to create a beautiful styled shoot that featured both an engagement picnic and a tabletop, showing how you can take a simple motif and tie together your entire series of wedding events.  Blue chevron makes a repeat appearance here, from the napkins, to the stationery and signage, to the gorgeous table’s runner.  Sit back and enjoy the beautiful images from Holland Photo Arts and the sweet southern setting of Charlottesville’s Clifton Inn!

This is the last week of the Inspired Creations Contest!  I hope you have enjoyed the diverse and creative submissions, I know I have!  This adorable concept comes to us from the ladies at In The Now Weddings + Events, Mathieu Photography, Lunch Pail Pictures, and Creative Media Print and I could not be more in love with it!  The concept began with the poem “Brown Penny” by William Butler Yeats.  In this poem the speaker contemplates whether or not he is old enough to love, and then decides “one cannot begin it too soon”.  This inspired the idea of “young love” and “old love”, and the team created both an adult tablescape and a children’s table with the same red, white, navy, and copper color palette and fabulous “young and old” decor.  This is truly a fresh take on Americana, with an understated dose of glitter and glam thrown in!

There is just so much pretty in this shoot, I’m over the moon! Kelly Maron Horvath of Paper Stories, Lauren LePine of Ryan Alexander Events, Lynn Fossbender of Pollen, Stevi Savage of AveryHouse, and Shannon Spellman of Plate have dazzled me with their interpretation of glitz and glam for the Inspired Creations Contest, it’s an absolute wonderland of handmade charm.  Mercury glass accents, mother-of-pearl buttons, satin ribbons and gilded china from Plate are just a few of the ways that the team incorporated glitter and glam into their tabletop and dessert display.  And since the Inspired Creations Contest is all about being fabulous on an approachable budget, everything from the sewn paper bunting to the ribbon table runner, escort card holder, cake topper, and even the cake itself was created by Kelly, and all of the decorative accents used in the shoot were brought in from the team’s homes and studios. 

Are you ready for an Inspired Creations Contest submission that’s full of color and Parisian style?  Courtney Callahan of Courtney Callahan Paper, Natalie Walsh of Hello Darling, and Jenn Gaudreau of Jennifer Kathryn Photography are behind this vibrant shoot, inspired by a European masked ball.  The color palette of teal, green, orange, and sparkly gold and bronze is so rich and vivid, and I adore the original and exotic florals with metallic foliage, Israeli ruscus, magnolia, chick pea, kale, and peacock feathers.  Lovely stationery and DIY projects such as personalized dance cards for each guest, a ribbon garland, and hanging “bride and groom” wreaths are just a few of the beautiful touches that make this concept unique – and believe it or not, all of what you see below was created on a budget of only $337!

The 1920s have an almost mythical feel – speakeasies, flappers, prohibition and gangsters.  So what better era would there be for a glitter and glam shoot?  Today’s Inspired Creations Contest concept from Allison Barnhill Designs, Elizabeth Ryan Photography, Intrigue Design & Decor, and Up Do’s for I Do’s brings the glamour of the past to life.  Ridgely, Maryland has a historic train caboose in town – the perfect setting and an iconic detail from the era.  Vintage china and tea cups, an antique watch and engagement ring, and a fabulous brooch bouquet are just a few of the little touches that bring the romance of the Roaring Twenties to life.

I’m so excited to show off today’s Inspired Creations Contest idea – it’s retro, vintage, and fresh!  The Chicago team of Jaclyn Simpson Photography, Fleur, and Lily Red Studio created an intimate brunch wedding setting full of scrumptious pancakes and french toast kebabs, on a tabletop set with a handsewn runner, glittering crystal votive holders, and lush blooms. The honey, peach, and tangerine color palette is warm and sweet, and honey dipper favors are the perfect favor.  There are just so many little details to obsess over, so run over and see even more of the images in the gallery!

For brides that want to incorporate aqua or any other sort of turquoise shade of blue in their color palette, finding the right flowers can definitely be a challenge. Pink, purple, peach? Plenty of options, but there are very few blue flowers, and even fewer options for an aqua or turquoise. So, what’s a girl to do? If there are no other colors you’re working with, find other ways to incorporate that blue color.

A 19th century private residence in Maine is the elegant backdrop for this lovely wedding shoot. Sarah Goodwin of Daisies & Pearls brought the natural beauty of the setting inside with rustic wood, natural fibers, wintry white, icy blue and glistening silver. A cozy tabletop with handmade linens held mercury glass vases and antique blue bottles wrapped with silver thread, filled with white stock, tulips, orchids, carnations, dusty miller, and dried berries. The accompanying stationery created by Fourth & Folded is nestled in a muslin pocket and packaged with gorgeous calligraphy, and keeping with the wintry theme, the guest book is fabric squares to be made into a quilt. When I spotted this gorgeous snowy winter shoot on Corbin Gurkin’s blog, I knew that I wouldn’t be able to resist sharing it with you!  Winter weddings are my favorite – so elegant and graceful, so intimate and cozy, even amidst blustry weather.  Megan of Maine Seasons Events and Corbin of Corbin Gurkin Photography designed this stunning table setting and dessert display using classic winter blue and silver with a punch of berry red, and Emily Carter Flowers created the beautiful floral details.

I hope everyone is getting excited for the holidays!  I know I am, and I am practically drooling over this gorgeous holiday tabletop designed by Donna O’Brien of Beautiful Blooms in Philadelphia.  The aqua and chartreuse color palette is a new twist on a traditional holiday theme, and mirrors, glass bowls, and mercury glass add the perfect amount of sparkle to the decor.  The images are by one of my favorite ladies, Marie Labbancz.

My lovely friend Jeannine from FAVOR Events has shared two beautiful farm wedding tables, both full of  romantic and rustic details!  The privately-owned farm in Georgia is one part rustic, two parts gorgeous and the tablescapes show the personality of the venue in completely different ways.  All of the lovely images are courtesy of Ben Vigil Photographers.
