August Honeymoon Spots

After choosing the venue and engagement ring, we know you can’t wait to start thinking about possible honeymoon locales!  August is a top wedding month, but–as luck would have it–a particularly difficult travel month! The continent of Europe is on vacation, and it’s the beginning of hurricane season in the Caribbean and Mexico (not to mention Florida).  So, what’s an August bride to do?

Below, the top 10 August non-hurricane, non-Europe honeymoons for August brides.

1.  Bora Bora:  If you can afford it, it could be the closest you ever get to heaven on Earth.

2.  Kauai:  For a domestic, more affordable alternative to Bora Bora.

3.  Japan: Fantasize about chilling out in the middle of nowhere, soaking in hot springs and doing yoga all day.

4.  South Africa:  South Africa’s wine country is positively stunning!  Just remember that August is winter in the Southern Hemisphere, and dress accordingly.

5.   Napa:  If you just can’t swing a trip to South Africa, Napa surely won’t disappoint.

6.  Acadia National Park:  Best for the nature lover, Acadia is a breathtaking spot.  And summer in Maine is sublime.

7.   Australia:  If you’re more ski bunny than beach bum, take advantage of Australia’s winter to do some skiing.

8.  Bali:  Though not quite as striking as Bora Bora, Bali is a heavenly escape from the stress of the wedding.

9.  Santa Barbara:  Santa Barbara has great beaches, fantastic hotels and even its own wine country.  It’s also just 1 1/2 hours from LA.

10.  Las Vegas:  In case you need any excuses to stay inside…You sure can’t go outside in Vegas in August, but isn’t that half the fun of the honeymoon?
