A few weeks ago, a Chow.com representative sent over a link to their wedding guide.  I was so excited to see that the guide was really useful!  The catering world is not very active online, and it’s hard to know what you should be spending on food or how we can save on it.  Catering is such a huge part of the budget, and can be really confusing.  All of the caterers we’ve met with only make it more confusing.  Chow.com has made this subject a lot simpler.  My favorite part is the article on Alternative Catering.  We unknowingly used one of their suggestions by having our wedding catered by a local BBQ favorite.  Which we ordered for $6 a head.  Yes, that is a mere six dollars.  The delivery charge?  $40.  I felt like I was cheating the wedding industry by using them, but everyone loved it, and isn’t that what matters?

There is one problem however.  They suggested searching for “mobile catering” and then your state name.  Which works perfect if you’re not in a state that has a city named Mobile, Alabama!  I tried again with “mobile catering idaho” because I consider Idaho the black hole of wedding planning (I grew up in Pocatello, Idaho.  Population: 53,000 and home of my personal favorite wedding planning businesses, the Joulet Wedding & Reception Center).  The search worked and I was able to find someone in the area.

This site has done nothing to decrease my hobby of menu and recipe collecting.  Hello Blackberry Peach Cobbler!
