So how do two stridently independent and opinionated lovebirds get married in the age of Platinum Weddings, anyway? Like so many things that would follow, we found our inspiration in the world of wedding blogs.
Oh Red, how I love you! You’re such a strong color. You can easily overpower, but when used correctly you can also add warmth and charm. Thank you for being such a great color!
Happy Independence Day everyone! To celebrate, here is a board of red, white, and just the softest of blues.Â
Being a true Southern girl at heart, I adore weddings that take place at marinas, on yachts, or at sea. Crisp navy, shades of blue, and white look amazing against the backdrop of the water, and adding punches of other primary colors, like red and yellow, is key.
For the past few weeks, I’ve been pondering how to incorporate royal blue into a theme. E and I mulled it over today and inspiration struck. Royal blues with iridescent grays and blues, with just a touch of red.
E and I were discussing the pros and cons of having a red wedding. For me, the pros (looks fabulous on brunettes, favorite color) outweigh the cons (hello, Christmas theme anyone?). I was happy to find this article on Martha Stewart. It suggests using it for a summer theme. I’m sure you could adapt for any season.
Sarah and Scott originally had a large celebration planned, but like many other brides, COVID changed that. In a cautious manner they decided to move forward with their wedding with just their 12 closest family and friends. Despite the small guest count, the design aspect was large. Their outdoor ceremony took place surrounded by banyan trees under the most stunning Chuppah. Reception was followed with the most divine tent with flowing florals and hints of citrus.
Sarah & Benjamin wanted guests to feel like they were entering a magical world when they arrived at their wedding and the day was full of awe-inspiring details which made that vision a reality. From getting married at the castle-like Wonderland Cluj Resort, to the horse-drawn carriage fit for royalty, to the show-stopping, jaw-droppingly lush, floor-to-ceiling florals by Elena Bodea – Las Floristas that filled both the ceremony and reception, guests were transported into a fairy tale for the day. Add to that that these two look like they walked out of a magazine themselves, and this may be one of the most dreamy weddings ever! The gallery is full of more incredible photos by Ioana Porav Photography, from the stunning rose petal seals on the stationery by Invogue Art, to Sarah’s romantic Milla Nova wedding gown (a nod to her Hispanic roots), to even more photos of their unbelievable florals, and trust us, you absolutely want to see them all!
Almost instantly, a wedding in Washington, DC has visions of ultimate grandeur. Jen and Nick wed in the early spring at the Four Seasons and they left no stone unturned when it came to the ins and outs of their wedding design. Jen’s favorite blooms are the ever-stunning and lush magnolias and with that color inspiration as their jumping point, they coveted a white/ivory and green wedding with gold accents. Florist Amy from Amy Lauren Floral Designs expressed and continued the color palette by using sumptuous white peonies and white roses along with the glossy magnolia leaves. This wedding has too many impeccable elements to it, both in design and in personality. We’re just glad that Kristen Gardner captured all the splendor in full!
Let’s all take a moment (or two) out of our day to check out this bliss-inducing Janita Mestre wedding. It’s delightfully in the desert, so of course you’re going to spot a few cacti at Galway Downs, but you’re going to see such a dreamy color palette too. Being so close to Valentine’s Day, Stephanie and Alex wanted to evoke love all throughout, so they picked pink as their go-to hue. Big and bright blush and ivory florals by Events by Floral Sensations complemented the eye-catching David’s Bridal mauve bridesmaids’ dresses, and we loved this idea, too. Instead of continuing the soft tones everywhere, shake up the colors like Stephanie and Alex and throw a deep hue in the same color family somewhere that will be seen. Adding it to the bridesmaids’ dresses was a clever touch without overwhelming the couple’s desire to have an airy feel to their wedding day.
There simply isn’t one single thing we don’t adore about Jen and Jesse’s modern Brooklyn wedding. Rather than a formal dinner, the couple chose to enjoy a progressive cocktail party with their guests, a perfect mix of formality and casualness. Liberty Warehouse set the perfect scene with its industrial aesthetic. The organic greenery from Violet and Verde highlighted the brick, wood, and metal throughout the venue. As if their locale couldn’t get more breathtaking, Jen’s father created a wooden altar from scratch that, paired with Violet and Verde‘s floral, made an exquisite and personal ceremony backdrop. Jen is a vision in her Blush by Hayley Paige dress from The White Gown and the bridesmaids’ dresses add just the right pop of color. Even their choice of wedding date is perfection—they were married on Loving Day, the anniversary of the overturning of the criminalization of interracial marriage in the US. We know that you’ll join with us in falling head over heels for every sweet moment as captured by Kat Harris Photography!
Ethereal and elegant, this inspiration shoot may be set in Miami, but it evokes the spirit of France! Kiss the Planner and Anthology Co. dreamed up a Parisian wonderland in Villa Woodbine. A chic neutral color palette brings to mind the architecture of the City of Lights, and pops of deep red and cornflower blue add color to the scene. We adore the classic gold invitations from Artistic Calligraphy and are absolutely head over heels for the gray and ivory cake from Earth and Sugar that’s the perfect blend of modern and sophisticated. Enjoy the timeless images from Melanie Gabrielle Photography!
Sammi and Dan achieved the ultimate in engagement photos during their time around New York’s West Village and Hudson River Park with Lindsay Madden: effortless, romantic images that are chic and classic! With styling expertise from Roey Mizrahi Events, Sammi and Dan walked the city’s side streets and casually picnicked in the park to get these sweet reminders of their engagement. We could not adore Sammi’s red-hot Kate Spade New York dress and that vintage bicycle any more! We hope you enjoy all of the fabulous photos from this day!
Romantic simplicity meets rustic glam meets rich fall color in this amazing styled shoot from Diana Marie Photography! We’re simply crazy about the lush chrysanthemum and rose florals—not to mention the gorgeous styling—by Kae + Ales. Adding a vintage edge to the entire scene are gorgeous pieces from Classic Vintage Rentals, which set the tone for a classic princess-inspired Paolo Sebastian gown from Nearly Newlywed Bridal Boutique. We adore the beaded bodice; the same sparkle is carried over into the delicate hairpiece from Nicky Teo. Run to the gallery to see all of the stunning details!
We love the chic color combination of navy and red mixed with shiny magnolia leaves in Lauren and Robert’s wedding florals and decor! The classic look continues with elegant one shoulder navy bridesmaids dresses by Jasmine and bouquets filled with red and white roses and magnolia by Melissa of Sadie’s Couture Floral & Event Styling. Lauren chose a sleek, column style Jenny Lee gown from L’Atelier Couture. The beautiful Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Minneapolis was home to the ceremony, followed by a reception at Nicollet Island Pavilion. There, Mintahoe Catering & Events and Buttercream Cakes & Desserts kept guests satisfied, surrounded by more lush fall centerpieces at the stone and wood venue. These stunning images from Laura Ivanova Photography will have you swooning!
These fun and beautiful images of DJ and Alan’s Sun Valley Idaho wedding from Hillary Maybery Photography make us wish we were kicking up our boots with them, too! Stunning outdoor surroundings frame this affair, with a rustic chapel setting the stage for a ceremony filled with cowboy hats and boots, plaid kilts, and spring florals in yellows and greens from Tara Bella Floral Design. DJ’s elegant lace Anne Barge gown is a gorgeous contrast to the earthy elements and her personalized boots from M.L. Leddy’s. We love the details that the team at Amanda Seaward’s Absolute Weddings wove in—including monogrammed plaid throws, distressed leather chairs, and antlers—to drive home the theme of DJ and Alan’s affair! See all of the elegant, rustic details in the gallery!
Bold and pretty are the perfect words to describe Angela and Michael’s Santa Rosa wedding, held at Annadel Estate Winery. The beautiful blues, red, and purples of the flowers by Elyse Litt of Willow Floral Design are somewhat unexpected, making that much more of a statement. Bret Cole Photography did a stunning job capturing the day’s details, including the intricate beading on Angela’s Lazaro gown and the rustic, elegant surroundings of the vineyard and barn-style space where the ceremony was held. On the lawn for the reception, Melissa Panico of MAP Weddings & Events coordinated lovely centerpieces along long tables with gold touches and pretty linens from La Tavola Fine Linen Rental. We are completely head over heels for this chic and colorful vineyard wedding—swoon over all of the details in the gallery!
We love a casual, fun-loving engagement shoot, and Chris and Cassi’s Coney Island engagement photos by Jen Huang Photography are fabulous! The cute couple spent a day at the Brooklyn boardwalk playing games, trying out carnival rides, and just generally being in love. The result is adorable photos that show off Cassi and Chris’s personalities. We are completely smitten!
