LeeAnn’s Shabby Chic Decor

Written by Kristin Brancaleone, owner of The Treasured Petal.

I’m delighted to share about the conceptualization of LeeAnn’s wedding florals. LeeAnn was the client of my dreams- she is crafty, creative, passionate and LOVES flowers which made it so easy and fun to collaborate with her along the way. Her wedding took place at the Ayres Hotel, which is exquisitely decorated with antique European furniture, crystal chandaliers, ornate rugs, and dramatic gold-framed portraits. There is a glamorous-but-slightly-worn vibe at the Ayres that lent itself perfectly to the cozy, feminine shabby chic look LeeAnn gravitated toward.

After pondering colors for a while, she settled on pale tangerine and fresh green against a canvas creamy white. We wanted lots and lots of candlelight, chandelier prisms, satin ribbon, and flowers that are lush and petally, with lots of fragrance (think gardenias, wide-open garden roses, and freesia to name a few.)

Her bouquet was voluptuous and textural, with hydrangea, orange and white roses, green cymbidium orchids, freesia, gardenias, bouvardia and seeded eucalyptus. (The above and following 3 pictures by Jason Q. Tran)

One of the sweetest details was her husband Geoff’s late grandmother’s lace handkerchief that was used to bind her bouquet.

A single green cymbidium plucked from LeeAnn’s bouquet on Geoff’s lapel.

The bridesmaids were beautiful in their dreamy pale orange gowns with a single cymbidium tucked behind their ears.

Ceremony details: Large clusters of white hydrangea were tied to the aisle chairs with a dozen different ribbon streamers. LeeAnn purchased chandaliers to hang in the trees of the courtyard, and her coordinator Paola provided the stunning manzanita tree escort card holders.

Some simple preliminary drawings that I sketched out for LeeAnn as ideas. We settled on some version of the #2 and #3 centerpieces. And, here’s what came to fruition…

We alternated high and low centerpieces, featuring hydrangea, roses, orchids and other blooms, and tied mismatching crystals to the curly willow branches.

The corset wrap on the low centerpiece added girly charm to a simple glass cube.

A puffy cloud of white hydrangea lined their sweetheart table.

I love this wedding on so many levels. It was dramatic and eye-catching, yet simple and cozy at the same time. Some weddings are so over-the-top and extravagant that they lose the warmth and personalization that a wedding should just ooze; not so with LeeAnn and Geoff’s shabby chic wedding!
