DIY Entry #6: Poster-Style Programs

Our next entry is from Wanwisa, who submitted her beautiful poster-style wedding programs!

Wanwisa says:

While I was planning my October 2007 wedding at Per Se in New York City, I was looking for inspiration for a unique wedding program. Having splurged on a beautiful letterpress invitation suite designed by Cheree Berry, I wanted to be frugal with my other wedding day paper essentials and decided to design my own programs. I came across a gorgeous idea in Martha Stewart Weddings and emailed it over to my dearest friend designer and founding partner of Spoon and Fork Studios, Pritsana Kootint.

Together we came up with a design that incorporated a motif from my NYC inspired invitation suite. I shopped for large 11X14 paper in a soft cream shade from Paper Presentation in the Union Square area of NYC and printed the design at a local printer, Duplications Unlimited in the Carnegie Hall area.

We folded the invitations (see insructions here) and wrapped a band in a contrasting sage green featuring my wedding monogram in chocolate brown. The bands were printed on 8×11 sage green paper; each page featuring four strips which were then cut to size. In order to get the perfect and precise cut, I spent $2 per cut at Duplications Unlimited to have them use their cutting machine. The result was a beautiful and budget friendly design (100 programs for just about $100 including paper, glue dots to hold the band, as well as printing and cutting fees) that worked harmoniously with my invitations.

The large poster format gave my programs a modern appeal while the vintage taxi motif brought a touch of old New York City charm to the entire look.
