Greetings + Salutations!

Once upon a time there was a girl named Cyd. One day, Cyd met a boy. She fell in love with this boy and after he bought her a very shiny ring they decided to plan a wedding. Subsequently, the girl found herself playing around online one night when she unknowingly tripped and fell into the land of wedding blogs. Needless to say, she never looked back and today she is incredibly excited to be joining the incredible talents of Ami and Rebekah and all of the fabulous bloggers at Elizabeth Anne Designs to share her wedding journey…

Hi, everyone!

I have to open by getting it right out there – I am a huge EAD fan, I’ve been reading avidly since the first day I stumbled over and I just can’t get enough. It’s such an incredible thrill to get to blog on Elizabeth Anne Designs and share the next six months of wedding planning with everyone. I can’t wait to tell you all about our insane ingenious decision to host the best two-day wedding soirée we can muster on our admittedly modest budget and all of the projects and ideas I have swimming around in my endless imagination, but before we get carried away with all of the details, a proper introduction seems most appropriate.

My fiancé, M, and I first met in June of 2007. Two of my closest friends from college, who had been a couple since we were freshmen, were getting married that summer and I was delighted to be the Maid of Honor. The Best Man was the groom’s older brother…the older brother I had somehow gone four years of college without knowing existed. The conversation went something like this – “Wait, what? You have an older brother? Since when?!” At any rate, that older brother just happened to be M and the rest, as they say, is history. Maid of Honor and Best Man meet, Maid of Honor and Best Man flirt, Maid of Honor and Best Man shock the world by falling in love. After a year of managing it long distance between M’s hometown where he was a middle school English teacher and where I lived a few hours away, we both just recently relocated back to my hometown in Northern New York State along the shore of Lake Ontario. We’re in the process of establishing our home and preparing for what we hope to be happily ever after while planning our wedding. It’s not always easy and sometimes budget issues inspire me to call the whole thing off and elope, but as our story began with a wedding, I can’t imagine not having a wedding of our own to remember fondly through the years.

In 185 days I will get to call M my husband….and as a special bonus, I will also get to call my best friend my sister in-law and share a last name with her! In the meantime, M is adjusting to post-bachelorhood life while I blog away over at The Sweetest Occasion and find myself continually inspired by the wedding blogging community and the likes of Rebekah and Ami. I look forward to sharing our journey with all of you! To tide you over, I want to share a few photos from our engagement photo session this fall with our fun-loving photographer, James Bass. Enjoy!
