I’m over the moon for this gorgeous and inventive bookcase dessert display. I admit I may have been influenced by the likely presence of lemon-flavored treats.

Belles and Gents Bar
Welcome to day 2 of the Indie Wed Inspired Creations Contest! The incredible team involved in today’s shoot created an amazing and beautiful idea, a “Belles and Gents Bar”. Picture this: one day, wives crash an old-school gentlemen’s club bringing in big beautiful blooms and brightly colored details to freshen up the usual decor of cigars, highball glasses, aged scotches, and decanters. SQN Events stocked the bar with his and hers drinks (homebrews and sweet tea) from Femme du Coupe personalized by Courtney Callahan Paper and treats like chocolate-covered cigars and bourbon-infused brownies from truffle truffle. Fleur never disappoints with their stunning florals and these peony, ranunculus, and cotton arrangements are absolutely some of my favorites! Love this brilliant idea and beautiful photos by the wonderful Simply Jessie Photography!
Elegant Winter Tabletop
Inspired by a peacock feather, these jewel-toned tabletops designed by Beth of SQN Events are the perfect combination of elegant and modern. Whether you’re planning a wedding or a party, jewel tones set the stage for a fabulous urban holiday soiree, and the gorgeous purple, red, and green palette is brought to life by the modern blooms from Dilly Lily. Ribbon-wrapped menus and favor boxes with touches of swirling calligraphy add an elegant touch to the wedding tabletop while “naughty” and “nice” gift boxes add cheeky punch to the holiday tablescape. The scrumptious sweets table and 4-tier truffle cake from Truffle Truffle is a fun and unique alternative to a traditional cake. I’m in love with all of the colorful images from Maypole Studios!
Modern Rustic Autumn Inspiration
Working with the fall color palette of amber, gold, saffron and chocolate, Kelly Marie of Fleur and Heather of Greatest Expectations pulled from the in-the-moment trend of beer and hops to style a shoot that is the perfect combination of modern and rustic. With custom stationery and the cutest vintage beer bottle labels from Lily Red Studio, a mouthwatering menu (a charcuterie and cheese station!) from Pure Kitchen Catering, a beautiful bridal look from The Left Bank, and the fabulous raw space at Architectural Anarchy, every little detail was thoughtfully presented. And don’t even get me started on the amazing desserts from Truffle Truffle – including an out of this world 4-tier truffle cake! It was impossible to narrow down the gorgeous images by Amanda Hein, so run over to see ALL of the eye candy in the gallery!
Pretty Pastels & Metallics
There is just so much pretty in this shoot, I’m over the moon! Kelly Maron Horvath of Paper Stories, Lauren LePine of Ryan Alexander Events, Lynn Fossbender of Pollen, Stevi Savage of AveryHouse, and Shannon Spellman of Plate have dazzled me with their interpretation of glitz and glam for the Inspired Creations Contest, it’s an absolute wonderland of handmade charm.  Mercury glass accents, mother-of-pearl buttons, satin ribbons and gilded china from Plate are just a few of the ways that the team incorporated glitter and glam into their tabletop and dessert display. And since the Inspired Creations Contest is all about being fabulous on an approachable budget, everything from the sewn paper bunting to the ribbon table runner, escort card holder, cake topper, and even the cake itself was created by Kelly, and all of the decorative accents used in the shoot were brought in from the team’s homes and studios.Â
Peach Garden Wedding Inspiration
This lovely little inspiration shoot provided a much-needed dose of sunshine to my morning! The combination of peach and pink is so romantic and when you add in fluffy peonies, a beautiful peach and white cake, and a build-your-own ice cream sundae station, you get a sweet little vignette sure to give you inspiration for a summer garden wedding. Kansas City florist Erin Volante pulled together the beautiful blooms, and all of the lovely images are courtesy of Portraits By Lucinda.
Farm Wedding Inspiration
I fell in love with this adorable farm wedding shoot from SH Weddings and Hanle Productions the moment I set eyes on it. The cozy little sweetheart table with glass bottle centerpieces, the cake that looks like it came straight from your grandmother’s kitchen, and the decorate-your-own cupcake station? All things straight out of my fabulous things list. I love that Samantha chose soft colors like lavender, sky blue, and peach. The color palette is not typical of autumn, but is completely dreamy set against the rustic fall scenery at Oak Hill Farm.
Elegant Winter Wedding Inspiration
When I spotted this gorgeous snowy winter shoot on Corbin Gurkin’s blog, I knew that I wouldn’t be able to resist sharing it with you! Winter weddings are my favorite – so elegant and graceful, so intimate and cozy, even amidst blustry weather. Megan of Maine Seasons Events and Corbin of Corbin Gurkin Photography designed this stunning table setting and dessert display using classic winter blue and silver with a punch of berry red, and Emily Carter Flowers created the beautiful floral details.
Cozy Holiday Decor
I hope everyone has a warm and wonderful holiday weekend! Curl up with your loved ones, watch a lot of great Christmas movies (Love Actually is my personal favorite!) and enjoy a restful and relaxing holiday. I’m signing off for the weekend, and what better way to leave you than with a glimpse into the home of my lovely friend – and amazing florist - Holly Chapple.Â
Vintage-Inspired Wedding Shoot
From tea dyed escort cards, mismatched antique wood chairs, and antique hutches filled with old books and flowers; pieces old and new were woven together to give this Cape Girardeau, Missouri wedding shoot, photographed by Untamed Heart Photography and styled by Katie Saeger of Simply and Forever, a vintage feel.
Caribbean Art with a Bohemian Flair
Are you enjoying the creativity and ingenuity of the Inspired Creations Contest concepts as much as I am? To welcome in the new week, we have a lush and tropical tablescape and dessert table from the team of Erica O’Brien, Honey and Poppies, De-Lovely Events, and Jessica Claire.
Hockey-Inspired Wedding Ideas

Inspired by Fabric: DIY Projects and Instructions
April put so much love and attention into the details of her Inspired by Fabric concept, and was kind enough to share all of the DIY project instructions with us! All of these projects can be accomplished by DIY-ers of any skill level, and April truly shows that a wedding is not about the size of your pocketbook, but the size of your imagination!
At-Home Brunch Reception
I am absolutely in love with today’s Inspired Creations Contest entry! The team of Viridian Design Studio, Thompson Poole Photography, Cartewheels Caterers, and PAPERooT created a brunch wedding reception concept, and both the food and tablescape are positively exquisite.
My Name is Christine, and I’m obsessed with Details.
The reception is by far the biggest component of most weddings as there are so many details that go into setting one apart from the next. And we could make no exception for ours. DIY was the name of the game for us, because well, I love detail! And because of the wedding blog world, I had a never-ending, sometimes extremely overwhelming source for inspiration and ideas. And I loved that this community could inspire such wonderful elements for my wedding. From the lace votives, to a “sweet love†candy bar to a wedding tree, these little details were what made our wedding so special.
Let’s Get This Party Started
While Nick and I were taking photos, our guests headed to the reception tent for the cocktail hour. They were supposed to gather around the rectangular pool — amidst round high top tables and mason jars of candles tied with red and orange ribbon — but the wet weather prevented that from happening. However, I heard they still had a pretty excellent time.
A Sweet Occasion – My Bridal Shower!
In early May, my bridesmaids hosted an incredible bridal shower for me. While I’ve been getting increasingly more excited for the wedding in recent months, excitement really started to mount with the shower the girls hosted for me and all of my family and friends. They put so much effort into making it a wonderful day and it truly was just that.
