It’s a historic home built in the 1800’s that overlooks the Blue Ridge mountains that was originally a Bed and Breakfast. So gorgeous! The team of My Simple Details, Holly Chapple Flowers, Kate Triano Photography, and Paperzest is taking us back to the 1980s today with a retro high school sweetheart Inspired Creations Contest wedding concept!

Dramatic jewel tones meet rustic barn setting in this inspiration shoot from One Summer Day, set at Silverbrook Farm in Virginia’s Horse Country. It’s simply gorgeous! The fall feel of the shoot is thanks to moody portraits, set amidst vintage decor from Stylish Patina Vintage Rentals. Coordinated by Ashlee Virginia Events, details like brass candlesticks and gold china sit among deep red and purple florals by Petals & Hedges. We cannot take our eyes off the black and gold stationery and that amazing and unusual cake from Cakebee! And how gorgeous is the gown from Soliloquy Bridal Couture? The effortless sophistication of this styled shoot by Jen Huang Photography leaves us wanting more! Antique floral china, lace linens, and gold touches courtesy of Borrowed Blu combine with softer fashion choices like a light gray suit and bohemian style beaded gown from Nearly Newlywed Bridal Boutique for a chic but casual affair. Garden blooms and wildflower-inspired bouquets by Sarah Winward of Honey of a Thousand Flowers give an elegant accent when mixed with silver platters of fresh vegetables and flickering candles; the watercolor invitation by Dear Jendo ties in seamlessly with the theme. We’re so in love with the bride’s coral lipstick and gorgeous curls tucked back at the base of her neck, styled by 10.11 Makeup. Ahh, vintage details and romantic styling—does it get any better? We were hoping against hope we’d seen the last of snowy weather this winter—that is, until we saw this engagement session from Vicki Grafton Photography and fell in love with the season all over again! Is there anything better on a cold day than snuggling up to your love? We think not, and that’s exactly how Washington, D.C. couple Megan and Zach took advantage of this chilly day at Dumbarton Oaks Park! We love Megan’s classic fashion sense and the pop of pastel teal peeking out from beneath her pea coat!

The snowy backdrop of the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center is organic and ethereal for this wintry shoot from The McCartneys Photography. Happy Friday everyone! Today’s Friday Flowers are from a sunny shoot styled by one of our favorites, Holly Chapple!  Anne Robert did an amazing job photographing vintage details against the vibrant flowers plucked from Holly’s garden. The yellow tablecloth—a gorgeous backdrop for the bold blooms—is actually a bedspread Holly picked up at a tag sale a couple years ago. Cordial glasses from Belgium, white enamel vases and plates, and a sprinkling of sterling silver lend a collected-over-the-years feel to this charming backyard party setting, and we are completely in love!

Valentine’s Day celebrations don’t always have to be filled with red hearts and streamers. This full-of-love and incredibly sweet shoot styled by Belovely Events uses vintage furniture and clothing and natural elements instead! Love love love the gorgeous furniture from Maggpie Vintage Rentals and the hanging flower garlands! It’s already so hard to resist photo booths, but add in antique details, vintage LPs, and fabulous accessories like these from Love, Lulu Mae? Sign me up! This team behind this Inspired Creations Contest put together the Ultimate Photo Booth. Guests use props like vintage hats, mustaches on a stick, sequined and feathered headbands to create photos, buttons, and even videos to post on friends’ facebook walls! Certainly, this is not your ordinary photo booth. It’s super interactive and has so many different options to play with. Doesn’t it look like so much fun?

When I look at the photos from Marie and Victor’s engagement shoot, I can’t help but feel all warm and fuzzy. The couple has such a sweet warmth about them and the styling by Vicki from My Simple Details (who also happens to be Victor’s sister!) reflects that feeling. Victor is an avid sportsman and hunter and Marie is very family-oriented so the shoot was styled with antique decoys for him and some cozy yarn for her. One of my favorite details is of course the beautiful florals by Petals and Hedges – I love those blooms in the pitcher. Such a sweet and cozy engagement shoot set on the beautiful grounds of Lamontagne at Bluemont with photos by Vicki Grafton Photography!

Although we don’t feature a ton of engagement shoots, this one was way too cute not to share! Tauren and Chris’ shoot was designed to show the seasons of their relationship and to ask their loved ones to join them in the next season of their lives. How sweet is that? They sipped lattes outside for the fall, snuggled up for a snowy Christmas inside, shared a colorful spring picnic, and ran around on the beach for summer. Such a cute idea with beautiful photos from Bethany Belle!

Shannon’s bridal portrait session from Christina Carroll Photography is full of shabby chic amazingness. It was taken at The Prairie by Rachel Ashwell, a super cute bed and breakfast between Austin and Houston that is a perfect mix of rustic and romantic. I’m absolutely in love with Shannon’s gown, originally by Allure Couture and then deconstructed/reconstructed by the bride herself! And how beyond gorgeous is Shannon?  Beautiful, shabby chic bridal portraits with fabulous antique details. Enjoy!

Remember when we wrote that we were gaga for chevron?   Well if that didn’t convince you that chevron is the hottest pattern going, this lovely inspiration shoot from Jamie Sears of Simply Chic Events will!  Jamie set out to create a beautiful styled shoot that featured both an engagement picnic and a tabletop, showing how you can take a simple motif and tie together your entire series of wedding events.  Blue chevron makes a repeat appearance here, from the napkins, to the stationery and signage, to the gorgeous table’s runner.  Sit back and enjoy the beautiful images from Holland Photo Arts and the sweet southern setting of Charlottesville’s Clifton Inn!

Classic, timeless, and delicate, this gorgeous styled shoot from Holly Heider Chapple, Events in the City, Laura Ashbrook Photography, and an amazing array of Washington DC-area wedding vendors was inspired by the elegant style of the early 1900s and the story of the maiden voyage of the Titanic. The deep brown, burgundy, and gold color palette, classic calligraphy, and crystal accessories echo the opulence of the era while the mercury glass, taper candles, and lace table runner add modern day beauty. I am swooning over the to-die-for gowns and headpieces and the luxurious feeling of the shoot, a perfect combination of today’s vintage trends and timeless elegance.

Just in time for the 4th of July, we have an classic and adorable summer engagement shoot from Love Life Studios and styled by The Stylish Soiree. I love all the patriotic details from the tablescape to the bride’s oversized sunglasses to the mini red, white, and blue pinwheels. Check out the flowers too, don’t the blue thistle kinda look like fireworks? This laid-back shoot absolutely gets me in the mood for a big slice of peach pie and an ice cold soda. Happy 4th of July everyone!

For this really sweet bridal session, not only were different shades of ribbon (I love ribbon!) used to create a super pretty backdrop, but they mixed in some beautifully delicate lace as well! I love the idea of using natural twigs and branches as ribbon wands. A very sweet bridal shoot by Ampersand Photography and a really fun DIY idea!

I hope you are loving sherbet week as much as we are!  Sherbet is such a cheerful and fun color, and I just adore how this styled brunch shoot from Ashley of CA Event Planning and Korie Lynn Photography brings it to life!  This Berry Tea Time Brunch uses just the right combination of dark and light pinks, dainty lace linen, fresh berries, and scrumptious desserts to create a tabletop and drink station full of beautiful inspiration for morning weddings.   Set in the quaint courtyard of the James Monroe Museum in Fredericksburg, Virginia, Ashley incorporated her grandmother’s floral china, a gorgeous ruffled cake from Fat Girl Cakes, and vibrant floral from Jane Guerin, and I just love the playful and sweet end result.  Thanks ladies for sharing!

Heather and Jonathan’s Leesburg, Virginia wedding is overflowing with lovely details inspired by their love of the outdoors.  The color palette of cream, green, sky blue and brown echoes the beautiful setting of Raspberry Plain, and the couple infused many personal elements into the interfaith celebration, including a chuppah decorated with a crocheted cover created by Jonathan’s mother and handmade by Heather’s father from trees found on their lakeside cabin, smooth river stones as escort cards, and and ribbons streaming from the trees.  Vicki from My Simple Details made sure the day went off without a hitch, the gorgeous florals were created by Holly Heidler Chapple, and all of the lovely images are courtesy of Three Lights Photography.
