California Bohemian Wedding Inspiration

There is no more fitting way to bring the Inspired Creations Contest to a close than to showcase this vibrant, eclectic, and undeniably gorgeous wedding concept from Courtney Cole of White Flower Boutique, Jenna Kageyama of flutter glass Photography, Emilia Keene-Kendrick of Sweet Emilia Jane, and Erin Lepperd of Erin Ever After.

Emilia shares: “This shoot grew from a love for all things bohemian mixed with a penchant for the gorgeous natural parks of California. We were inspired by the vibrant oranges of the state flower, the poppy, and the perfectly speckled feathers of the state bird, the quail. Fuse these all together and what do you get? Why California Bohemian, of course, and so our concept was born.”

“We wanted to evoke the feeling of a roving gypsy caravan that stopped in the wilds of California and threw a gorgeous bohemian wedding al fresco. Think bright, wild blooms mixed with antique gold and feathers, lots of feathers.”

Colorful Outdoor Wedding Reception

Handmade pillows decorate the chairs at the vintage teak table, which is dressed with flowing white linen.  Ribbons and feathers adorn each place setting, a light and airy touch that goes perfectly with the idea of a gypsy soiree.

One of my favorite parts of this concept is the “Booze and Berries” table, a unique twist on the traditional drink station where guests can dress up their blood orange champagne punch with fun drink stirrers and an assortment of fresh fruit.

Wishing Tree Guest Book Ideas

The team was kind enough to share DIY instructions for creating the wishing tree guest book.

  • Container (pictured: large square box from Ikea)
  • Manzanita branch
  • Floral Foam
  • Rocks
  • Flowers or Succulents
  • Paper
  • Tag Punch
  • Hole Punch
  • Twine or Ribbon
  • Pen

  1. Cut your floral foam to the measurements of your container so that it fits snugly inside.  Leave a few inches of space above foam for rocks.
  2. Take your branch and push it into the center of the foam 2 to 3 inches.
  3. Fill the rest of the container with rocks so that the branch feels secure.
  4. Decorate the top with cut succulents or flowers.
  5. Using your tag punch, stamp enough tags for your guests from your paper.
  6. Punch a hole in the center of the top of each tag and thread with a few inches of twine or ribbon.
  7. Place tags in a pretty bowl and create a little sign letting guests know to write a wish for the couple and hang it from the tree.

Flowers played a huge part in this tablescape.  All of the vibrant and colorful blooms were purchased at local farmer’s markets and placed in birch containers and vintage vases.  All of the unexpected elements combined to form a centerpiece full of texture and rich in color.
