In the waning days of summer, these images gave me a much-needed dose of sunshine! Carolyn Brandhorst, owner of The Papery of Philadelphia, threw this gorgeous bridal shower for her future daughter-in-law, Katie. Styled by Evantine Design and photographed by Laura Novak, the lovely shower was held in the picturesque courtyard of Philadelphia’s historic Morris House Hotel and featured beautiful paper goods from Carolyn’s shop.
Carolyn’s husband Michael built an 18 foot white-washed wood table that was placed under trees holding hot pink lanterns. Mint green farm chairs, salvaged white dining room chairs and fruitwood chivaris lined the table, set for the 22 attendees.
An old yellow farm table held a lovely sweets table with key lime and blueberry pies, lemon bars, red velvet and carrot/ginger cupcakes, sugar cookies, fresh berries and various candies.
Yellow and white modern paper placemats held vintage tin plates layered with mint green Jadite dishes and vibrant floral napkins from Crate and Barrel. Personalized individual yellow menu cards placed in each fork served as place cards.
Yellow gerbera daisies in terra cotta pots served as take home centerpieces.
Stainless steel candy dishes salvaged from a local diner held jelly beans.
The shower happened to be on one of the hottest days of the summer, so a “Hot Hot Hot†Cooling Station was placed just near the feast table for guests to enjoy. A vintage etagere held misting bottles, ice water hankies, hand fans and parasols for shade.
And every shower needs a fun guest book! Each guest took a photo and placed it and a note in a keepsake scrapbook for Katie.
