Masquerade Mask

Masquerade-MaskMasquerade-Mask-How-To

Materials needed:

  • 1 mask (purchase at any craft store)
  • Spray adhesive
  • Lace or other fabric coverings
  • Embellishments such as feathers, rhinestones, etc.
  • ¼ ” dowel rod, cut to approx. 12” length
  • Colorful ribbon, ¼” width
  • Glue gun
  • Glue sticks

Directions:

  1. Determine the shape you would like your mask to take. We cut ours slightly to give it a soft, romantic look. As we always say “Measure Twice, Cut Once!” so be sure you like the cut!
  2. Move around the fabric covering until you get a pattern and a design you like. Our particular mask was three different lace scraps we had sitting around the studio that we manipulated around the cures and the eyeholes of the mask.
  3. Once you have determined the fabric structure spray the back of each piece with spray adhesive. Once it has become slightly sticky/tacky attach to the mask piece by piece, ensuring you are pleased with each step.
  4. When the fabric pieces have dried, add embellishments as you see fit. We added a simple feather pad and individual feathers for drama. Rhinestones can be glued around the edges, or anything you can imagine.
  5. Wrap the stick with the ribbon, trailing down in a round, diagonal manner. Secure each end with a dab of hot glue.
  6. Attach the stick to the mask using hot glue. When it has cooled and is set use a fabric scrap to enclose the stick where it is attached to the mask.

L’Amour de ma vie Banner

Ribbon-Banner

Materials needed:

Directions:

  1. Download the “L’Amour de ma vie” template
  2. Print all of the pages on bronze cardstock

  4. Round corners with Fiskars Squeeze Punch-Corner
  5. Using a hole punch, punch 3 holes at the top of each rectangle letter
  6. Cut ribbon to desired length of banner, I suggest starting with 5 yards to be safe
  7. Starting with the letter “L”, weave the ribbon through each hole making sure to keep the ribbon straight
  8. Weave through remaining letters until all are attached to the ribbon.
  9. Double check the spacing to make sure each word has a bit of room in between.
  10. Then hang!

Directions:

ribbon-tassel-tutorial

  1. Cut a piece of cardboard into a 3″ x 4″ rectangle
  2. Cut another rectangle shape out of the right side of the cardboard piece approximately 1″ from the top.  The rectangle shape can extend for 2″
  3. At the top of the cardboard rectangle, cut 2 slits on either side
  4. Cut a 4″ piece of ribbon, place on top of the cardboard piece and then slide the ribbon into the 2 slits.  This is to provide a grip for the ribbon.
  5. Cut a 36″ piece of ribbon and start to wrap around the card lengthwise.
  6. Wrap the ribbon around the card 8 times.
  7. Once you have wrapped the ribbon 8 times, cut another 4″ piece of ribbon.  Wrap the 4″ piece of ribbon around the front of the wrapped ribbon and loop through the hole in the cardboard.
  8. Turn the cardboard over and tie in a knot on the back.
  9. Cut the bottom of the wrapped ribbon to form the ends of the tassel which can be adjusted to any length you desire.
  10. Slide the top ribbon out from the slits and tie in a knot at the top.
  11. Slide the tassel off of the cardboard and voila!
