Real Weddings: Jennefer + Rick

The moment that we decided to do a color week of aqua, my mind immediately went to this fabulous Nashville wedding that I had seen on Style Me Pretty a few months back, held at the lovely Cedarwood.  Jessica, the bride, did an amazing job working with Cedarwood to craft an event full of personality, with a whimsical bird theme and a vibrant color palette of aqua, teal, pink, yellow and green.  Jessica collected antique birdcages for the centerpieces and painted them in shades of aqua and teal and found precious aqua birds at a local antique store to use as decor.  Thanks to Jessica and her wonderful photographers, Souder Photography, for sharing!

Jeff, a UCLA alum, and Lisa, a Chicago transplant and Vanderbilt alum, created a quintessential southern garden wedding in Nashville at historic Cedarwood.  They chose songs from the Beatles and Van Morrison for ceremony music, and an awesome replica of the UCLA stadium for the groom cake. Lisa created a lot of DIY details, including a vintage quilt photobooth and mad lib program.

I never get tired of a bride in cowboy boots!  Jennifer and Drew’s wedding was held at Nashville’s gorgeous Cedarwood, and it’s full of relaxed beauty and Southern charm.  Josh and Meg of Souder Photography captured all of the lovely images.

Amanda and Jason’s wedding at Nashville’s Historic Cedarwood was an intimate affair—the kind where “mac and cheese was a mandatory,” the bride describes, and where only the couple’s closest friends and family are on the guest list. “We had lawn games, a camp fire, and we celebrated the way we would have if we had friends gather at our home for an evening of games and laughter” the bride says. Photographer Kristyn Hogan captured luscious arrangements of red and purple blooms, pieced together by Cedarwood‘s talented team. We love that the couple hung images in the cocktail area for guests to admire, that bird decor graced both their tables and custom paper suite, and that their comfort food menu included sweet tea and lemonade!

Liz and Jamie’s wedding brings together two things I love: Great Gatsby and Historic Cedarwood. They wanted a wedding true to their Southern roots, something elegant and sophisticated yet fun, and were inspired by the romanticism of The Great Gatsby. It was also important to their families that they be married in a church, but the couple wanted an outdoor ceremony so Cedarwood’s outdoor cathedral was the perfect venue! Gorgeous paper goods used throughout the day, vintage elements such as pearls and feather embellishments, and beautiful florals in shades of ivory and yellow all helped to create an event that was elegant yet not too stuffy. Lauren and Stewart’s candlelit Nashville wedding and reception is so breathtaking! The drama of the flickering light during the ceremony at Scarritt-Bennett Center is softened by Lauren’s vintage-inspired lace dress from Bella Couture and pale pink bridesmaids dresses by The Dessy Group. Classic bouquets accented with cameo pins and pastel flowers, all by A Village of Flowers, add to the antique look of the reception at aVenue—we adore all of the lace, floating candles, and those fabulous chandeliers! Even the Jay Qualls cake gets a dose of old-school with vintage brooches festooned on the layers. Fall in the South is so picturesque it may as well be a postcard, and the photos from Dove Wedding Photography of Holly and Will’s big day back up that declaration. With a rustic cathedral backdrop set outside amidst wildflowers and autumn-inspired bouquets by Cedarwood—the antebellum Tennessee farm estate where the entire event took place—Holly saw her dream of a gorgeous, jewel-toned wedding come to life. Her Paloma Blanca gown is the epitome of Old South sophistication, while bluegrass music from Howling Brothers, fireside cider, and an unexpected twig detail on the Patty Cakes wedding confection make it clear this affair was all about having a down-home good time.

New bride Ariel says she isn’t originally from the South, but we’d never guess it from the looks of she and groom Stephen’s Nashville fete. After meeting at a barbecue (we told you!), getting engaged and deciding to settle down in the Music City, Ariel and Stephen knew it was the right place for their wedding, too. The ritzy venue, Riverwood Mansion, contrasts beautifully with the shabby-chic vibe of the entire event, including the bride’s delicate Maggie Sottero gown, and lush bouquets and floral arrangements filled with roses and hydrangeas from The Enchanted Florist. Ariel even had perfectly curled Southern hair, courtesy of Green Pea Salon—we love the waterfall braid detail! Even before I read anything this adorable couple had to say about their wedding, I could tell it was a celebration created with a ton of love and care! Indeed, Amelia and Josh’s wedding took lots of teamwork to put together. The flowers, dishes, decor – almost every tiny detail can be attributed to the bride or one of her talented friends. I absolutely love all the different colorful bridesmaids dresses – so cute and fun! It’s a handmade and homemade Southern celebration (that also looks like it was an incredible party!) with photos that are just too cute for words by Dixie Pixel – the perfect way to end a spectacular 2011!

Anytime the fabulous team at Historic Cedarwood puts their heads together, a magical wedding is created. Erica and Shaun’s wedding was an elegant and refined event with a French-chateau-meets-Southern-countryside vibe. Big puffy peonies, a soft and romantic color palette of pinks and whites, and Erica’s stunning Lazaro Couture gown in the softest shade of pink…swoon! Cedarwood has the perfect outdoor ceremony backdrop – it’s an outdoor cathedral with actual church pews and cathedral windows – bringing the indoors out for an incredible ceremony space! Jennie and Jordan did not let a modest budget stand in the way of having their dream wedding. They brought in a team of friends and family to help create a gorgeously natural event. According to Jennie, instead of thinking about “what [they] couldn’t spend” they thought instead about “how [they] could do it differently”…really inspiring, no? The flowers, the invitations, the decor, and the desserts were just some of the details that the team effort helped put in place. But seriously, their St Louis wedding is oh-my-goodness gorgeous. The photos by Amelia Strauss Photography capture Jennie and Jordan’s day BEAUTIFULLY and make their already pretty details that much more incredible.

Sara and Conner met while were both were on vacation in Nashville. There was an instant connection, and after spending as much time together as possible during that trip, they began dating long distance and were married at Nashville’s Cedarwood just over a year later. Their festive, intimate dinner party was a nod to Sara’s Southern roots. Magnolia leaf place cards were set atop each place setting on long wooden tables where each flower was handpicked by the bride. The couple’s monogram was sprinkled throughout, even on the wreath above the historic home’s door. From their ceremony on the rolling hills of the estate to the reception glimmering with candlelight, we are smitten with this entire day, beautifully photographed by Erin Lee Allender!

Morgan and Matt’s outdoor wedding at Bella Luna Farms was as rustic and charming as it was pretty and timeless. The lovely images from one of Michele M. Waite Photography‘s favorite weddings of this year showcase bold blooms in arrangements and bouquets, as well as Morgan’s classic column-style gown. Sweet farm animals meandered around the grounds as guests enjoyed first a ceremony—where the couple took vows beneath a traditional chuppah festooned with a floral garland—and then a reception inside a barn strung with lights. We think Chambers and Company did a fabulous job with the design of this fun and fabulous affair!

Jacquelyn and Stewart’s wedding was a labor of love. Family members and friends gathered to help craft the “simple, natural and not over the top” vision Jacquelyn had for the day. They collected wine bottles and vintage containers from flea markets, which the bride’s mother filled with fresh flowers on the wedding day. A family friend welcomed the couple and their guests onto their private estate for the affair and “as you can see we were thrilled about that and felt so blessed by it,” Jacquelyn said. White tags tied to wine corks were pinned to a board and served as the couple’s escort card display, a detail we adore! Braedon Photography captured the natural beauty of the day so well that we feel as if we are basking in the sunshine with the bride and groom!

Pretty flowers, pale pink dresses, and an elegant outdoor venue… Laura and Steve’s Nashville wedding is garden party perfection! The details of their wedding truly couldn’t be prettier. They chose a palette of pale pink and mint green and selected hydrangea, peonies, and roses in arrangements by Enchanted Florist to decorate the outdoor gazebo at CJ’s off the Square. I love the paper flower escort cards and the gorgeous chandeliers but I can’t stop drooling over her amazing Louboutins! What a marvelous day with marvelous photos by Kristyn Hogan!

Sarah and Ethan’s wedding was personal, intimate, and infused with Southern charm. They incorporated family photos and mementos throughout the day, placing photos of themselves as kids on each of the tables, a large screen with family wedding photos at the reception, and (my favorite) Sarah pinned a brooch worn by Sarah’s great-great-grandmother and grandmother on their wedding days to her bouquet. I absolutely love the soft pink, peach and ivory color palette of the flowers by Jan Parker! Each and every one of these photos by Yellow House Photography is more beautiful than the next!

One part rustic, one part casual, one part elegant, and all parts utterly amazing, I can’t get enough of this beautiful Nashville wedding!  Every image of Becky and Jon’s wedding is absolutely gorgeous whether of the lush, elegant florals by Enchanted Florist, the stunning backdrop of Southall Eden, or of the beautiful couple themselves. After an intimate hillside ceremony where guests sat on covered hay bales, everyone enjoyed a Southern-style buffet followed by a good old fashioned hoe down!  Thanks to Adele Reding for sharing these beautiful images with us!

I absolutely love unique color palettes and Jenni’s blend of fall colors with her groom’s Scottish tartan is a breath of fresh air! It was such a warm wedding with lots of DIY details that perfectly blended both season and culture. Jenni and Bill both look gorgeous and positively giddy! Of course we love the romantic Nashville farm estate Cedarwood, and these photos by Chris and Adrienne Scott Photographers bring the gorgeous day to life!

Lauren and Ian’s wedding was spread out over 3 days at Ian’s beautiful family home in Grove City, Pennsylvania. They wanted their wedding to feel like a backyard party, something very handmade and festive, and created a stunning overhead display in their reception tent with hundreds of colorful tissue poms. I’m in love with the bouquet and boutonniere by The Tinker’s Dam! The flowers are so pretty and stand out on their own without competing with the colors of the rest of the event. Jenia and Sergey’s friends put a bit of pressure on them during the 5 years they dated, saying how much they were looking forward to their Russian wedding. The couple was up to the challenge though, and with lots of help from friends and family they created an event that reflected the two of them as well as their heritage. Jenia and her bridal party assembled the beautiful florals, and other friends helped create the bunting, programs, signs and many of the other details that filled the day. I’m in love with the colors and feel of this wedding, and adore these photos by Justin Battenfield. Such a stunning day created from a lot of love!
