Howdy, friends! Cyd from The Sweetest Occasion here today bringing you a dose of one of my favorite design trends of the moment – chevron! Chevron is such a versatile pattern. It can be preppy or it can be really modern and fun depending on the color and how you incorporate it throughout your day. Here are some of my favorite ways of showcasing a little chevron love, keeping in mind that where bold pattern is concerned, a little goes a long way!
Remember when we wrote that we were gaga for chevron?  Well if that didn’t convince you that chevron is the hottest pattern going, this lovely inspiration shoot from Jamie Sears of Simply Chic Events will! Jamie set out to create a beautiful styled shoot that featured both an engagement picnic and a tabletop, showing how you can take a simple motif and tie together your entire series of wedding events. Blue chevron makes a repeat appearance here, from the napkins, to the stationery and signage, to the gorgeous table’s runner. Sit back and enjoy the beautiful images from Holland Photo Arts and the sweet southern setting of Charlottesville’s Clifton Inn!
Shalyn Nelson Photography and Inspired Events and Designs teamed up for a vintage cornfield shoot inspired by the quote “Live by the sun, love by the moon.” They brought in lots of yellow and orange as well as crisp whites to compliment the green fields of corn. I absolutely ADORE the stunning florals by Lindy Floral. The various flowers, fruits, and greens provide such incredible texture against with the yellow chevron chairs and the clean white linens. Such a gorgeous shoot!!

Colorful, fresh, and super-fun to DIY, this week’s current crush is fantastic fringe! From enormous fringe garlands to sweet fringed icing on your cake, adding fringe to your wedding is all the rage. We just adore the playful result!
Event stylist Shi Shi Events shows “that holiday coziness can coexist†with the ultra-glamorous color palette of black, white and gold in this New Year’s Eve-inspired shoot, photographed by the ever-talented Arielle Doneson. Models look stunning in a short-sleeved lace bridal gown and ruffled Alfred Sung dress with bow accent—but we’ve really fallen for the bit of Ivy & Aster sparkle on the bride’s head. Plantscaping kept all-white flower arrangements light and fluffy, and the centerpieces really popped against shimmering sequin linens. Oh—but the desserts! A three-tier chevron confection from Cake Couture is served beside equally-delectable macaroons, cream puffs and cocktails by Luna Bakery Cafe that are sure to keep you warm on a cold winter’s night! We’re off to celebrate the New Year with champagne while you soak up the gorgeousness below!
Twin Peaks Ranch was the setting for this rustic, elegant affair, captured to perfection by Erin Hearts Court. This Southern California fete is a 2012 favorite of the photographers’ and after viewing the jaw-dropping details, coordinated by Bash, Please, it’s one of our favorites, too! The soft, flowing floral arrangements—also designed by Bash, Please—are oh-so-romantic, while the al fresco lounge made of chic furniture pieces from Found Vintage Rentals has seriously stolen our hearts! We love the sweet-and-simple menu scrolled across a mirror, and are falling for the bridesmaids’ soft grey dresses from J.Crew. We know it’s hard to pick—but do you have a favorite detail from this gorgeous wedding?
Today’s styled shoot from Justin & Mary pulls inspiration from the landscape and water surrounding Elihu Island near Stonington, Connecticut. Hana Floral Design and Boutique used natural elements like wildflowers and mixed them with more classic blue and cream arrangements to create a rustic but elegant look. We love the casual brown paper mixed with sweet blue ribbon on stationery from Chocolate Creative Design! The Union Baptist Church grounds are a pastoral backdrop for the model’s gown and the bright blue bridesmaids dresses from The Wedding Embassy—and how about that fur stole! We love how these images strike the perfect balance of sophisticated style in a casual country location.
There are a few flowers that are the superstars in our wedding world—peonies, hydrangea, garden roses, orchids—but it’s often the lesser-known flowers accompanying them who truly sell the feel of the arrangement. In our Friday Flowers feature, I want to highlight not only the superstars, but the flowers in supporting roles as well in hopes of guiding you brides out there still trying to narrow down exactly what they want for their big day. Today we have a flower who usually is seen as a filler to other flowers but that can also have a huge impact when it’s the star of the show—Astilbe!
I love the look of unpolished, slightly tarnished silver. There is something so beautiful and elegant about aged silver. Old goblets, bowls, silverware, and even vintage trophies – all are treasures made even more special when they show their age. Pair with lush, fresh florals to keep the vessels looking like well-loved heirlooms.
Who better to embody glitter and glam that Marie Antoinette? Today’s Inspired Creations Contest idea from the Atlanta team of Lara Molettiere Events, Earthly Affair, Edward Zeltser Photography, and I Do Linens captures the sweet feminine glamour of Marie with sparkle, metallics, feathers, gold gilded roses, pearls, crystals, and many other elegant vintage touches! And best of all, there are eco-friendly touches everywhere – all of the stationery items are created from 100% post consumer recycled paper, the favors are repurposed baby food jars with organic lavender plants, the tea tray stand is vintage china, and all shipping was offset through Carbonfund.org.
Only two days left in 2010 and we’re going to close out the year right! Today’s favorite wedding, from the fabulous duo of Whitney and Jesse of Our Labor of Love, is that of Max and Margaux. All you really need to hear to know that their two day backyard celebration is knock-your-socks-off amazing is that the awesome crew of The Flashdance came together to produce it!
As 2020 draws to a close and we usher in a new year with its new hopes and goals, there’s guaranteed to be quite a bit of celebrating around the world. And while our celebrations are sure to look different than they usually do, whether it’s a cozy night at home watching the virtual stream of the Times Square ball drop, or counting down over a zoom party with friends, there’s still nothing that marks a celebration more than with a good toast! Champagne or sparkling wine usually take centerstage during these moments, both in weddings and on New Year’s Eve, and there’s really no reason not to break out or break in some new glasses to start making memories now! So whether you’re toasting to a new name or a new year, here are some of our favorite glasses to help ring in the occasion!
It’s Valentine’s Day, and as we all know, Valentine’s is meant to be enjoyed with the one(s) you love, so what better way to celebrate than with a fabulous Galentine’s Day brunch! Emily Elizabeth Events created this adorable “Girl Gang Gathering”, where she and several of her closest friends came together to sip, eat, chat, make Valentine’s Day cards, and create floral arrangements, and this is one party we wish we could attend! Pink and gold stationery from Paper Delights invited each lady to the gathering, where they were greeted with balloons festooning the entrance to Seattle’s Ollie Quinn and the most gorgeous tabletop with florals by Emily Elizabeth Events and dusty pink linens from La Tavola. We’re loving chic and modern details like acrylic standing mirrors, cut-out name place cards, and pink lip cookies, and the romance and elegance of the compote centerpieces, textured fabrics, and vintage trays displaying sips and bites. Galentine’s has never looked so fabulous and we are head over heels for every moment, captured beautifully on film by Blue Rose Photography!
Have you heard the news? Greenery is Pantone’s color of the year for 2017! Incredibly elegant and sophisticated, greenery transforms bouquets, drapery, tablescapes, and even chandeliers into woodland works of floral art.
