Vintage Southern Mansion Wedding

Lauren and Stewart’s candlelit Nashville wedding and reception is so breathtaking! The drama of the flickering light during the ceremony at Scarritt-Bennett Center is softened by Lauren’s vintage-inspired lace dress from Bella Couture and pale pink bridesmaids dresses by The Dessy Group. Classic bouquets accented with cameo pins and pastel flowers, all by A Village of Flowers, add to the antique look of the reception at aVenue—we adore all of the lace, floating candles, and those fabulous chandeliers! Even the Jay Qualls cake gets a dose of old-school with vintage brooches festooned on the layers. Pretty flowers, pale pink dresses, and an elegant outdoor venue… Laura and Steve’s Nashville wedding is garden party perfection! The details of their wedding truly couldn’t be prettier. They chose a palette of pale pink and mint green and selected hydrangea, peonies, and roses in arrangements by Enchanted Florist to decorate the outdoor gazebo at CJ’s off the Square. I love the paper flower escort cards and the gorgeous chandeliers but I can’t stop drooling over her amazing Louboutins! What a marvelous day with marvelous photos by Kristyn Hogan!

Ronda and Jeff’s gorgeous Nashville wedding is the epitome of Southern chic! These two are completely in love—there’s not a single image from Kristyn Hogan where the two aren’t beaming! Sara Fried of Fete Nashville Events & Design helped Ronda and Jeff create the perfect day filled with Southern touches like monograms and lush hydrangeas. The white, purple, and green florals dotted throughout were created by The Enchanted Florist, and they absolutely set the scene for the day. After Ronda and Jeff’s ceremony at Scarritt Bennett, they joined guests for an outdoor cocktail hour and indoor reception at Schermerhorn Symphony Center. We adore the attire of the day, first with the sand-colored bridesmaids dresses by Dessy and classic tuxes for the men, and then Ronda’s breathtaking custom Vera Wang gown. Before a dramatic send-off down the symphony hall steps with sparklers, Ronda and Jeff cut their Dulce Desserts cake, an extra-tall confection accented with more hydrangea blooms. Louise and Matt’s Nashville wedding was Southern charm all the way, and we love every last gorgeous detail that Ali Harper captured in these images! The lush, neutral florals in the bouquets by Mark O’Bryan of The Tulip Tree meant the Amsale bridesmaids dresses—flowy, strapless taupe ensembles—and Louise’s lace-covered Muna Couture gown stayed in the spotlight. Roses and hydrangeas set a classic vibe for the reception at Belle Meade Country Club. The traditional wedding cake by Leland Riggan of Dessert Designs added classical sophistication to this affair, designed by Nashville event planner Elizabeth James. This wedding is grand and intimate all at once, and we’re completely head over heels!

A typical ballroom wedding just wouldn’t do for Erin and Wes—they something a bit more personal and unique. The couple decided Belle Meade, a plantation home and horse farm in Nashville, was the perfect place to host their wedding. In keeping with their surroundings, the couple made escort cards from horseshoes and  horseshoe charms hung from the white and pink bouquets and boutonnieres. Brocade Designs created beautiful centerpieces of roses and dusty miller in mercury glass containers. We love the pop of pink napkins on the gray tablecloths and the chic bridesmaids dresses by Monique Lhullier!

Madeline and Nick chose the historic Patrick Haley Mansion in the Chicago suburb of Joliet for their lovely summer wedding. The grounds of the stately mansion provided a beautiful backdrop for their garden ceremony, and the impeccable ballroom housed their classic reception, in a palette of ivory, gold, and pink. Anthony Gowder Designs mixed pretty pink roses and delicate white hydrangea with floating candles in glass vessels to line the tabletops, which featured elegant gold-rimmed china. Madeline’s Maggie Sottero gown and BHLDN headpiece is effortlessly chic, and we adore each and every image from Kristin La Voie Photography!

Isn’t Elizabeth and Scot’s wedding at Cairnwood in Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania, just lovely?! We adore the stunning outdoor landscape, especially with the lush and elegant flowers created by Papertini Floral & Event Design. A simple floral motif was repeated on the classic stationery from Lucky Luxe as well. The romantic blooms are especially gorgeous paired with soft pink Amsale bridesmaids dresses and Elizabeth’s amazing lace Jim Hjelm gown. The perfect accessory to her ensemble–a vintage scalloped lace mantilla veil–is from Bel Aire Bridal. At the reception, with help from Stephen Starr Events, the romance continued thanks to lace linens, pink and cream touches in decor and flowers, and a tall round confection from Whipped Bakeshop on a gold cake stand that we love! We’re simply swooning over these images from Sweetwater Portraits!

The first word that comes to mind when scrolling through the images from Kelly Sauer, Photographer of Rebecca and Joseph’s Charleston wedding is “lush.” Everything, from pink and white florals by Gayla Harvey of Tiger Lily to gold glitter and sequin details and filmy bows on ceremony chairs, is so sophisticated and perfectly done. Rebecca and Joseph held the entire affair, indoors and out, at the beautiful historic William Aiken House. To complement the pink and gold touches, bridesmaids wore elegant blush-colored gowns from Nordstrom. We can’t even talk about Rebecca’s Allure Bridals gown without our jaws dropping open; it’s that fabulous! We love that she paired such a dramatic gown with simple glitter ballet flats from J.Crew! We’re just enamored with every single part of this soiree that Lindsey Shanks of A Charleston Bride helped plan and style. Rebecca wanted to incorporate the color scheme into every element, including the cake from Fish, which is accented with gold leaf and fresh blooms. This is simply a delicious day filled with romance and sophistication!

Lauren and AJ’s elegant Nashville wedding was an old-school Southern affair that started with a ceremony at the beautiful Cathedral of the Incarnation. Soft taupe bridesmaids dresses played backdrop to hydrangea, lily, and magnolia leaf bouquets by OSHi International Floral Decor Studio. Lauren walked down the aisle in a strapless Justin Alexander gown from Sweet Elegance Bridal. After the traditional Catholic ceremony, guests headed to downtown’s The Hermitage Hotel, where classic green and cream florals and warm wood decor welcomed. Events by Janie helped coordinate the soiree, which featured balsa wood airplane place cards, a nod to AJ’s Air Force career, and an amazing cake from Dessert Designs. We’re in love with Abby and JB’s sophisticated Southern wedding! Held in Nashville at the War Memorial Auditorium, soft creams, pinks, and lavenders are played up in flowers and decor by Big Events Wedding. Just one of the great details is the bold pop of navy in bridesmaids dresses by The Dessy Group, especially next to Abby’s intricate Amsale gown. Kate Murphy Photography always amazes us with stunning images, and these are some of our favorites, with plenty of natural and dramatic light. We’re dying over the taupe details on the square wedding cake from Dessert Designs and all of the lovely white and green florals dotting reception tables. If Wes and Jamie’s gorgeous engagement session wasn’t enough, their stunning wedding at Bali’s Amanusa is sure to leave you breathless! Their exotic, elegant affair was perfectly designed by the fabulous Beth Helmstetter Events and featured whimsical watercolor invitations by Quill & Fox and stunning tropical florals created by Gloriosa Flower House. Jamie was positively radiant in her Carolina Herrera gown and Vera Wang veil, always a classic and beautiful choice. Steve Steinhardt captured all the beauty of their beachside nuptials—get ready to swoon over what may be one of the most gorgeous weddings we have ever set our eyes on!

We are absolutely blown away by the gorgeous Southern charm of Callie and Andrew’s Birmingham, Alabama wedding. Held at the historic Donnelly House, the outdoor ceremony gave way to an indoor and outdoor reception, both featuring tons of lush hydrangea blooms in centerpieces and bouquets created by Continental Florist. The bride’s Rivini gown starts as a traditional strapless style, but the bottom will nearly leave you breathless—pleated orchid-like ruffles make this a dress to remember. The chocolate-colored dresses from Bella Bridesmaid are a stark and sophisticated contrast to the white flowers. Spindle Photography captured every last perfect part of the day, including that amazing wedding cake from Olexa’s. We can’t pick just one favorite detail of this delicious affair!

Warm and elegant, Euri and John’s wedding at Pasadena’s The Athenaeum is pure romance!  Euri chose one of our favorite color palettes – soft ivory and peach, dusty pink, and pale gray -  and mixed in beautiful mercury glass containers and luxe gold linens on the gorgeous tabletops created by Lindy at Commerce Flowers.  Euri is a positively stunning bride in her custom lace gown from Monaco Bridal (that floaty skirt, I die!), and we are head-over-heels in love with the fabulous images from one of our favorites, Erin Hearts Court!

There’s something about military weddings that always seems incredibly feminine to me. Perhaps it’s the juxtaposition of the strict military dress that makes lush florals and a soft color palette even more girly? Whatever it is, Christina and Andrew’s gorgeous Nashville wedding is a perfect example of that romantic and feminine feel. The Enchanted Florist put together the perfect recipe for romantic flowers: peonies, lisianthus, tea roses, hydrangea, and callas in pretty pink and coral shades. Their The Hermitage Hotel reception could not have been more elegant with lots of rich gold and pink details, the ideal location for a picture-perfect sword arch and other gorgeous moments all captured by the wonderful Kristyn Hogan Photography.

Liz and Jamie’s wedding brings together two things I love: Great Gatsby and Historic Cedarwood. They wanted a wedding true to their Southern roots, something elegant and sophisticated yet fun, and were inspired by the romanticism of The Great Gatsby. It was also important to their families that they be married in a church, but the couple wanted an outdoor ceremony so Cedarwood’s outdoor cathedral was the perfect venue! Gorgeous paper goods used throughout the day, vintage elements such as pearls and feather embellishments, and beautiful florals in shades of ivory and yellow all helped to create an event that was elegant yet not too stuffy. One part rustic, one part casual, one part elegant, and all parts utterly amazing, I can’t get enough of this beautiful Nashville wedding!  Every image of Becky and Jon’s wedding is absolutely gorgeous whether of the lush, elegant florals by Enchanted Florist, the stunning backdrop of Southall Eden, or of the beautiful couple themselves. After an intimate hillside ceremony where guests sat on covered hay bales, everyone enjoyed a Southern-style buffet followed by a good old fashioned hoe down!  Thanks to Adele Reding for sharing these beautiful images with us!

Peony lovers, be prepared. Katrina and Ryan’s wedding was a fabulous, hot-pink-peony-filled mix of modern and vintage. Held in uptown Charlotte at The Mint Museum, the couple incorporated their silhouettes as well as frames throughout the event. It was such a great way to compliment the venue without being too literal and it turned out beautifully! The Schultzes did an incredible job capturing this stunning bridal party, the lush florals by The Bloom Room, and the rest of the details of this elegant event!

Rick & Jennefer were married on a beautiful April afternoon at Nashville’s Historic Cedarwood. I could not be more in love with the lovely handmade and shabby chic feel of their wedding! Every little detail was unique and personal to them, from the piece of Jennefer’s grandmother’s quilt sewn into her handmade gown, to the handkerchief favors and the decor from their personal collection of antiques. This wedding is just oozing with gorgeous details and amazing images by Kristyn Hogan!

We love this absolutely classic féte hailing from an illustrious museum in our nation’s capital today. This Washington DC wedding was photographed by one of our favorites, Lisa Blume, and it is elegant and so special and timeless. According to Kelly, she couldn’t take her mind off of the National Museum of Women in the Arts’s design and sweetly, how she could picture traipsing down the staircase to meet her dear dad at the bottom to walk her down the aisle to her beau Jamie (tears!). Speaking of tears, we had to mention this touching detail. Kelly needed to have her grandmothers there in some way, so to commemorate these wonderful women in her life, she shipped in two paintings from North Carolina of them and had her grandmother’s tea cup in her bridal suite. Endearingly, the teacup was a gift her grandmother gave to her sister for her wedding.

If you could imagine what a down home southern wedding would look like with a healthy serving of sophistication, we think it’s Shannon and Christian’s wedding, hands down. Our hats are off to Molliner Photography for capturing the sumptuous images we get to share with all of you. This Jekyll Island fête is one for the Pinterest boards (and don’t be afraid to add all of the images!). It’s draped in neutrals galore; set against the couple’s picture-perfect venue, Crane Cottage; and the blooms by Straton Hall Events are stellar. We can just imagine dancing the night away under the mesh of the palmetto and oak trees. It’s giving us all the heart eyes, y’all!
