Charming + Pretty Virginia Wedding

I’m not sure I could envision a more beautiful lakefront wedding than Amber and Andy’s Michigan nuptials. The view was so gorgeous at their ceremony they were worried an arbor would distract from the view, so BLOOM created magnificent hydrangea-and-rose-filled urns to line the aisle. The perfect complement to such a beautiful ceremony! The elegant ballroom at The Inn at Bay Harbor was decorated with coral and peach flowers and touches of nautical details. Amber and Andy are the most gorgeous couple and we are utterly in love with these images from Amy Carroll Photography!

Charlottesville’s beautiful Clifton Inn is a gorgeous backdrop for a spring wedding!  Millie and David were high school sweethearts who reconnected 25 years later, their wedding was truly a joyous celebration of the path their lives had taken, bringing together family and friends from past and present to share a day they will always cherish.  I love the sweet, garden feel of their wedding – the buttery yellows and cornflower blues, the hydrangeas and tulips perfect for spring, and the lovely images by Elisa B. It is impossible for a wedding at Charleston, South Carolina’s Lowndes Grove Plantation to not be gorgeous Lowcountry perfection. Laura and Thomas chose the gorgeous setting for their entire affair, starting with a ceremony beneath moss-draped trees and ending with an outdoor reception that highlighted the jaw-dropping sunset. We are stunned by these images from Richard Ellis Photographer! Laura’s amazing Jordan gown is a fitted silhouette that gives way to a full ruffled skirt, and we adore the look! One-shoulder silvery blue Siri bridesmaids dresses are shimmery like the sea and paired with simple baby’s breath bouquets by Branch Design Studio. Laura’s bouquet of white orchids is spiked with bright yellow blooms that also grace the elegant reception tables, details that Southern Protocol helped her plan. We also love the textured icing detail on the couple’s cake from renowned Charleston restaurant and catering company Fish. How lovely is Allison and David’s Lowcountry wedding, held outdoors at Lowndes Grove Plantation in Charleston, South Carolina? Classic style rules the day, with fresh white flowers like anemone, hydrangeas, and roses from Out of Hand, and timeless details implemented by the team of Hannah Grogan and Lisa Thomas of Ohh! Events. The backdrop of the water and sunset was a gorgeous scene for the ceremony, with bridesmaids wearing preppy dresses from J.Crew and Allison in a stunning Martina Liana gown. The ruffled skirt detailing is to die for! The amazing team at Fish created the buttercream cake, which resembled a hydrangea kissing ball atop a bed of roses and was the perfect complement to the crisp blue and white color palette of the tent reception decor. It’s no wonder that classic style rules the day at Meghan and Aaron’s Chautauqua, New York, affair–after all, the wedding was held at The Hall of Philosophy at Chautauqua Institution, an education center and summer resort where Meghan’s family goes back generations. To set the tone for their day, the couple sent out vintage-style stationery designed by the groom, Aaron Fetter. Following the outdoor ceremony, where bridesmaids wore short pink Jenny Yoo Collection dresses that sweetly coordinated with hydrangea bouquets by Francesca’s Floral Design, guests headed to the resort’s Athenaeum Hotel for a laid-back reception that included a buttercream cake from The Cakery, plenty of dancing, and the release of paper sky lanterns, which lit up much the way Meghan did in her Watters gown! Tiffany and Jim’s lovely wedding in Ann Arbor, Michigan, is filled with soft details and pretty blue accents. The silk draping near the altar of St. Mary Student Parish matched the bridesmaids dresses from BHLDN and the groomsmen ties with their Jos. A. Bank suits. Forming a lighter palette were the florals by Chelsea Flower Shop, LLC, which paired nicely with the lace touches on invitations and tables at the Michigan League Ballroom reception. We love all of the classic elements Heather Jowett captured, including the timeless cake design by Decadent Delight. And, in a fun twist, Tiffany swapped her gorgeous Maggie Sottero gown for a shorter tulle dress before she and Jim left their reception to begin a new life together.

There’s nothing better than a good outdoor Southern wedding! Lauren and Jeff held theirs at the Atlanta Botanical Garden, the perfect backdrop for an effortlessly elegant ceremony. And even though the surroundings were stunning alone, Robert Long Flora Design stepped in to create lush bouquets in whites and blues that complemented the garden plantings. Lauren’s gorgeous Priscilla of Boston dress is the stuff our dreams are made of—check out the lace scallop detailing! Navy bridesmaids dresses from Ann Taylor grounded all of the lighter colors—we adore the flattering ruching at the top.  Melissa Schollaert Photography captured every last detail of this classic affair, and we’re drooling over all of the pictures—especially the one with the Frosted Pumpkin Gourmet, Inc., cake wrapped in Tiffany blue satin ribbon!

There are so many gorgeous elements in Jennifer and David’s wedding, held at The Blue Dress Barn in Benton Harbor, Michigan. The site itself is rustic, but touches like feathers and lush blooms in bouquets and arrangements from Posh Petals and Jennifer’s absolutely amazing Paloma Blanca gown—complete with an unbelievable rhinestone-and-lace capelet—upped the glam factor in a major way! French Country details and a chocolate wedding cake festooned with more feathers from Dee’s Specialty Cakes just furthered the sophisticated feel at this woodsy location. The images from Amy Carroll Photography captured the magical, charming sentiment of this wedding. And we totally adore the bride’s lottery ticket wedding favors, tied in festive bags with a penny! We’re somewhat teary just looking at the emotion on Jennifer and David’s faces—what an absolutely breathtaking affair!

Even though Nan and Matt were nervous about the “temperamental, hurricane-season North Carolina weather,” the couple married outdoors at The Crabapple Garden at Fearrington Village near Chapel Hill under bright blue skies. Julia Wade Photography took the gorgeous pictures of Nan and Matt’s day, which included a barn reception, lush white florals by Mary Stevens of Fearrington Village, and a pretty textured cake by Jill Leckey, also of Fearrington Village. Nan’s lace Alvina Valenta gown was classic all the way, but the bright blue Badgley Mischka heels she wore offered an elegant pop of color and a nod to her alma mater, Duke. The bridesmaids also wore bright blue Amsale dresses, while the groomsmen’s light blue High Cotton bow ties pledged their allegiance to Matt’s alma mater, the University of North Carolina. They may be split on college loyalties, but we all agree that this was a practically perfect wedding weekend!

Old South charm and elegance abound at Historic Mankin Mansion in Richmond, Virginia, where Carly and Paul chose to host their wedding festivities. The bride stunned in a strapless Blue by Enzoani gown, and her elegant maids shined in short black bridesmaids dresses from Forever Yours International. Flower Girls crafted classic bouquets that included white and green hydrangeas—a Southern staple—and they carried the color palette over to the reception tent with white flowers set amid gold details and green linens. The three-tier confection from Cakes by Graham featured white flowers and green icing details to match the decor. Katie Stoops Photography masterfully captured both the emotions and details of the day, including the custom candy bars from For the Love of Chocolate, wrapped in gorgeous personalized labels by Jacqueline Weppner of Merci New York—the perfect sweet ending to an even sweeter day!

To celebrate their forever love, it’s only appropriate that Paige and Brent chose a laid-back, beautiful Arizona desert setting, the same state in which Brent was once declared its most eligible bachelor! We are smitten with the timeless elegance of Paige’s intricate lace gown and those soft, romantic blooms by Encore! Creative. Following a small ceremony at Valley Presbyterian Church, guests moved on to a rustic but romantic outdoor reception at El Chorro, complete with a classic tiered cake from Classic Cakes and Confections. These lovely images from Gina Meola Photography show an intimate, perfect evening for a sweet couple!

Looking at these pictures of Emma and Nathaniel’s Sarasota ceremony at The Church of the Redeemer makes us feel like we’re peering through a gauze-covered lens at an Old Florida movie set—sweetly romantic details abound at every turn! From blush-colored Christian Louboutin shoes to pale pink bouquets dotted with hydrangeas, roses, and ranunculus by Beneva Flowers, the day was pure perfection. A reception at The Field Club continued the swept-away vibe with robin’s egg blue-and-white centerpiece arrangements that matched an intricate five-tier cake in the same palette from A Slice of Heaven. “During the last hour of the reception Nate and I snuck off to soak in the whole day together,” says Emma. “It did go by so fast.” Just be sure to scroll slowly through these beautiful photos from Jessica Lorren Organic Photography!

California bride Jamie says her wedding was the happiest day of her life—and it was a pretty happy day when we opened these striking images of her gorgeous event from Beaux Arts Photographie too! The Fullerton Arboretum played host to Jamie and Daniel’s outdoor ceremony, peppered with classic details like strapless blue bridesmaids’ dresses from Bella Wedding Bridal and soft white bouquets from Flower Allie that popped against the lush landscape. Guests crossed the lawn for a tented reception filled with dancing to music by the Harrison Jazz Ensemble, laughter, and plenty of baby’s breath arrangements standing guard at tables—the inspiration for the couple’s all-white decor.

Chelsea and Evan’s rustic Charlottesville Virginia wedding, photographed by Eric Kelley, is divine. The couple gave Pat’s Floral Design complete creative freedom when it came to crafting casual centerpieces for the wooden farmhouse tables. “Our main words of guidance were that we wanted a laid-back look of seasonal wildflowers in no particular color palette,” said the bride. “What they came up with was incredible.” From an elegant ceremony arch made of two antique doors to herb table decor in natural clay pots, we couldn’t agree more! Cheslea looked simply stunning in her lace Monique Lhuillier gown. But our favorite detail? Perhaps the chalkboard seating chart, which a friend of the couple wrote out “in her beautiful handwriting,” the bride said.

Nicole and Ryan’s dream was to have a Florida beach wedding that was a mini-vacation for everyone who attended, and it seems they succeeded! The couple used a clean and fresh color palette of blue and yellow, and Blooming Flowers made sure to mix Nicole’s favorite flower, tulips, into the cheery arrangements. The entire day was laid-back, effortlessly elegant and personal. It’s pretty much impossible to look through the photos of Lynn and Stefan’s wedding by Kellie Kano and not immediately feel happier. Lynn knew she had to have yellow flowers because every since she was a little girl the color has always put a smile on her face. Thanks to Hedge Fine Blooms and all the other details in this sweet wedding, we’re now smiling too! Their big day was effortlessly elegant and set to the beautiful backdrop of Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards in Charlottesville, Virginia. Christina and Brent’s wedding is the perfect example of how a little rain could never truly spoil the beauty and love of a wedding. They started their celebration outside at Rust Manor in Leesburg, Virginia, and just as their officiant said “you may kiss the bride” tiny sprinkles started falling from the sky! Luckily, their reception was held inside and guests celebrated as the rain poured down outside. There was no shortage of sunshine inside though thanks to the gorgeous, sunny florals by Holly Chapple Flowers! Laura and Andrew’s beautiful, classic wedding was held among the grapevines of Veritas Vineyards & Winery in Virginia. The green and white color palette of flowers was fresh and clean and included hydrangea, roses, bells of Ireland, and hypericum berries. I love all the guys’ Vineyard Vines bow ties. Emily and Jason’s classic wedding was held on the campus of their alma mater, the College of William & Mary—we love the air of Americana the Virginia setting and abundance of blue hydrangea blooms from Events in Bloom give! The intimate ceremony was held at the campus’s The Wren Chapel. Continuing the historical theme, Emily wore the same penny in her Nine West wedges as her mother did on her wedding day in 1973. Emily’s timeless off-shoulder lace embroidered gown from Bobbie’s Bridal Boutique is stunning, especially when accented with the pearl earrings she borrowed from Jason’s mother. Bright pool blue Bill Levkoff bridesmaids dresses continued the single-color scheme, paired with hydrangea bouquets nearly identical to Emily’s. We love the bold pops of blue at the reception, held at The William & Mary Alumni House, where the flower of the day also adorned the couple’s cake from Wedding Cakes by Charlie. One of our favorite details? The college’s pep band performing outside the alumni house to kick off the post-ceremony party. How fun! Amanda and Mike’s big city Chicago wedding portrays a certain sweetness that is both charming and sophisticated! Following a traditional Catholic ceremony at St. Josaphat Parish, the couple and their friends and family headed to the gorgeous Chicago History Museum for a night of great food and dancing, thanks to Blue Plate catering and tunes from Matt Lewis and The Union. Amanda says she wouldn’t change a thing about the day, and we can see why! From the lovely ice blue bridesmaids dresses from Bella Bridesmaids to her own amazing Tara Keely gown, the attire was simple and elegant.
