Sweet Fall Engagement Shoot

Magical and lovely, there may be no more peaceful setting than Atlanta’s tranquil Serenbe. The sustainable community was home to Chris and Megan’s gorgeous wedding, captured by the exceptional Melissa Schollaert Photography. Ashley Baber Weddings worked with Gloriosa to design a wedding that brought out the natural beauty of the surroundings, with greenery table runners, florals in shades of purple from lavender to violet, rustic wood tables, and chic modern touches such as the outdoor lounge area, sophisticated draping, and clean white calligraphy by MM Ink. Megan’s deep plum and garnet bouquet is the perfect complement to her effortlessly elegant gown from Bridals by Lori. We are spellbound by this beautiful soiree!

Picture the most perfect afternoon hike with your love: Is it complete with cuddling beneath the trees, wading in a babbling brook and then resting with a glass of wine and a friendly game of Scrabble? Sounds divine, doesn’t it? Well, the insanely talented Erin Hearts Court brings us an engagement session that is exactly that! We are so in love with this couple–not to mention her amazing dress! Every single image gives us the warm and fuzzies!

We just love creative couples who like to have fun with their engagement photos, and Alvina and Edwin definitely did! Along with Laura Leslie Photography, the two headed to The Gwinnett County Fair, north of Atlanta in Lawrenceville, Georgia, early one morning to beat the crowds. Then they spent a few hours just having a total blast together, and it shows brilliantly in these images. The spirit of this entire shoot is playful, bright, and wonderful—enjoy!

When a stunning couple is matched with an incredible photographer and a gorgeous backdrop, the result is absolute perfection. This shoot by Bryce Covey is precisely that perfection! In their engagement shoot, Stephanie and Garrett are positively glowing in the rolling hills of Santa Barbara. We love the simplicity and natural beauty of setting, no props needed for this shoot! The unbelievable light of the setting sun warmed not only these fantastic photos, but our hearts as well!

Julie and James’ sweetly innocent engagement shoot in the woods and meadows has us swooning! The soft afternoon light shining on swaying yellow wildflowers illuminates Julie and James so these images from Clary Photo are almost ethereal. Of course, fab photography and a beautiful couple make it all look so easy!

They say rain on a wedding day brings good luck to the bride and groom, but what does rain on engagement shoot bring? For Jinaan and Brian, it brought amazing photos! They started out at their favorite pub near Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia and then, despite the drizzle, they took to the streets to wander the area. The wet pavement created a vividly romantic backdrop and Ash Imagery captured photos of the couple that were just as equally fabulous! If this shoot doesn’t get you in the mood for a Valentine’s Day date night, we’re not sure what will!

There’s nothing better than a good outdoor Southern wedding! Lauren and Jeff held theirs at the Atlanta Botanical Garden, the perfect backdrop for an effortlessly elegant ceremony. And even though the surroundings were stunning alone, Robert Long Flora Design stepped in to create lush bouquets in whites and blues that complemented the garden plantings. Lauren’s gorgeous Priscilla of Boston dress is the stuff our dreams are made of—check out the lace scallop detailing! Navy bridesmaids dresses from Ann Taylor grounded all of the lighter colors—we adore the flattering ruching at the top.  Melissa Schollaert Photography captured every last detail of this classic affair, and we’re drooling over all of the pictures—especially the one with the Frosted Pumpkin Gourmet, Inc., cake wrapped in Tiffany blue satin ribbon!

Alan had us when he snuck frosting from the mixer, and Yasmin could not be any more gorgeous than she is in this amazing engagement shoot by Anne Almasy! This stunning couple donned fabulous retro-inspired outfits while they made cake and cocktails (how on earth did they stay so clean with all that flour and icing?). And because it’s no surprise we’re an animal-loving team here at EAD, it goes without saying that we absolutely LOVE Yasmin and Alan’s kitty! Thanks to Anne Almasy for sharing such a fun shoot today!

Hannah and Brian’s outdoor Georgia wedding—held at Fair Weather Farms—has one of the most beautiful bridal bouquets we’ve ever seen! Romantic pink and peach flowers by Melanie Hernquist of Lucky & Lovely take their cues from watercolor stationery painted by the bride. We adore the short charcoal gray bridesmaids dresses in varying styles—the unexpected darker color is perfect with all of the other light and bright details, including the antique pink sofa brought in for photos against the rustic barn. Simply Bloom Photography captured this breezy and beautiful wedding so well we almost can’t believe it’s real, yet it’s easy to see why this fete is a favorite from their 2012 wedding season! Two of our very favorite things: Hannah’s gauzy lace Claire Pettibone gown and the delicious cascading yellow-gold sugar flowers on the confection by Deborah’s Specialty Cakes. Spend some time drooling over these gorgeous images!

After just seven months of dating, John knew Kate was the one, so he popped the question in — according to the bride — a “fairy tale-perfect proposal!” The place they chose for their engagement photos was not only naturally beautiful, but full of memories because it’s John’s family farm. After growing up there, it was a very special place for the groom-to-be to share with his bride. Sarah Kate truly captured the love these two have for each other!

Maggie and Greg’s laid-back country wedding is sweeter than sweet tea! In fact, their wedding was a tribute to their Southern roots and had two main priorities: good food and good fun for all their family and friends. They had quite a few DIY details including the beautiful doily table runner, the design for their wedding invitations, and the two homebrews the couple created for their big day. We’re crazy about their gorgeous flowers by Amy Osaba and all the sweet photos by Heidi Geldhauser of Our Labor of Love!

When I look at the photos from Marie and Victor’s engagement shoot, I can’t help but feel all warm and fuzzy. The couple has such a sweet warmth about them and the styling by Vicki from My Simple Details (who also happens to be Victor’s sister!) reflects that feeling. Victor is an avid sportsman and hunter and Marie is very family-oriented so the shoot was styled with antique decoys for him and some cozy yarn for her. One of my favorite details is of course the beautiful florals by Petals and Hedges – I love those blooms in the pitcher. Such a sweet and cozy engagement shoot set on the beautiful grounds of Lamontagne at Bluemont with photos by Vicki Grafton Photography!

In the mood for a warm thermos and some cookies?  Then you’ll love this adorable engagement session, styled and photographed by Jenny Haas and spotted on Love and Lavender, as much as I do!  I especially adore the cookies wrapped in ribbons – add a little cellophane and voila!  Beautiful and tasty wedding favors.

Kelly from Spindle Photography is an up and coming photographer who is no stranger to EAD (you can read her about her 2009 nuptials here). She sent over a sweet engagement session in Atlanta’s Piedmont Park. Cassi and Matt are planning a 2011 wedding ceremony.

Laurel and Brayden married in a winter ceremony in Las Vegas. Several months later, they came to Laura at Art Star Photography in Atlanta for a “day after session.” They brought adorable props of vintage bikes, picnic blankets, and vintage radios, and their puppy came along for the ride!

Sam and Jessica are college sweethearts marrying in Atlanta next May. My favorite part? The shot of the couple holding signs up. I know it’s becoming standard, but I still love seeing the unique ways couples use this as part of their pre-wedding preparations. They chose Our Labor of Love as their photographer.

Engagement sessions are so much fun! It’s a wonderful chance for the bride and groom to get comfortable in front of the camera, as well as to really show off their personalities in a unique and interesting way. Leah and Todd’s Atlanta engagement session, photographed by Hollie of Lytle{foto}, was a wonderful collaboration between the couple and their photographer. Hollie suggested a tea party theme, and Leah was inspired by this shoot from Simply Bloom Photography; put the two together and you have this magical shoot, full of lovely vignettes and captivating images!

My planning process continued in accordance with my first two priorities.  After relatively painlessly hammering out the guest list, I moved on to the huge task of finding a photographer.  I spent hours and hours looking through every Atlanta photographer’s website I could find, searching for a photojournalistic style that would fit into our budget.  One of these nights I was randomly looking through Knot message boards and stumbled upon a link to Blue World Studios.

I. AM. IN. LOVE.  With the Atlanta Braves.  And with Altmix Photography and their engagement session with Amy and Chad at (you guessed it) a Braves game.  Swoon.

Dana and Steven were married at the historic Tranquility Farm in Purceville, Virginia. The beautiful vineyards and rolling hills were the perfect backdrop for their day. Stunning florals and greenery by Colleen Rogin West complimented the flora and fauna of the estate perfectly! Dana was stunning in her Maggie Sottero lace gown, while her bridesmaids donned pale blue chiffon bridesmaids gowns. We simply adore all of the sophisticated rustic details and the beautiful imagery from Nikki Santerre Photography!
