Rustic + Elegant Michigan Wedding

I’m not sure I could envision a more beautiful lakefront wedding than Amber and Andy’s Michigan nuptials. The view was so gorgeous at their ceremony they were worried an arbor would distract from the view, so BLOOM created magnificent hydrangea-and-rose-filled urns to line the aisle. The perfect complement to such a beautiful ceremony! The elegant ballroom at The Inn at Bay Harbor was decorated with coral and peach flowers and touches of nautical details. Amber and Andy are the most gorgeous couple and we are utterly in love with these images from Amy Carroll Photography!

Lauren and Jack’s Westmoreland Country Club wedding is so beautiful, it’s like a dream! The club, with its immaculate landscaping and tent with twinkling lights was the perfect choice for the couple’s late summer event. Filled with the most beautiful blooms and greenery, the overall feel is romantic and sophisticated with just a touch of whimsy and the reception tent feels like a hidden secret garden! Lauren is a vision in a flowing Mikaella gown, beautifully accented with a colorful, lush bouquet designed by Four Finches. There’s not a single detail we aren’t completely smitten by, and it’s all captured beautifully by Bonphotage!

Jacquelyn and Stewart’s wedding was a labor of love. Family members and friends gathered to help craft the “simple, natural and not over the top” vision Jacquelyn had for the day. They collected wine bottles and vintage containers from flea markets, which the bride’s mother filled with fresh flowers on the wedding day. A family friend welcomed the couple and their guests onto their private estate for the affair and “as you can see we were thrilled about that and felt so blessed by it,” Jacquelyn said. White tags tied to wine corks were pinned to a board and served as the couple’s escort card display, a detail we adore! Braedon Photography captured the natural beauty of the day so well that we feel as if we are basking in the sunshine with the bride and groom!

When Lauren and Sam were dating, they would often ride past a particular house in Gastonia, North Carolina where every time Sam too would comment “that’s my dream house.” It went on for the next 2 1/2 years until after Sam popped the question and the couple decided on an outdoor wedding with Southern Living flair. What better location than their dream home so they went to ask if they could get married in the field outside the barn. The homeowners were delighted!  Speaking of dreams, these gorgeous blooms by Carey Roberts Designs are a dream come true for me! Each and every little detail is so gorgeous and photographed beautifully by Almond Leaf Studios.

Valerie and Ken’s Tower Hill Botanical Garden wedding was like walking into another time. Every corner was filled with gorgeous flowers and art, every detail simple in its elegance. The greenhouses and gardens at Tower Hill inspired the color and style for their wedding. Julie Lapham Designs created arrangements with succulents and airplants, roses, eucalyptus, and anemone, and many of the succulents are now growing in the couple’s home! Seeded paper escort cards doubled as favors, a Jenga game served as the guest book, and colorful tabletops graced the Orangerie. Braden and Adam describe their wedding as “elegant, classic, and fun” and we totally agree! After a week of non-stop rain, the clouds parted, the sun came out, and the weather was perfect for their big day at Basalt’s Roaring Fork Club. The mountainside ceremony setting is simply stunning, and a beautiful arbor accented with greenery by Carolyn’s Flowers was the only adornment needed. Virginia from Bluebird Productions made sure that the day went off without a hitch, and worked with Carolyn’s Flowers and Pink Monkey to pull together the gorgeous reception tent, with an elegant floral chandelier and drool-worthy centerpieces of lisianthus, garden roses, hydrangeas, dahlias, and orchids. We’re completely head over heels for these images from Kate Holstein!

Romantic, chic, and stunning, we are completely smitten with Kimberly and Joshua’s wedding at Newport, Rhode Island’s Belle Mer Island House. The waterside venue was the perfect setting for their nuptials, which featured lovely ivory blooms from Greenlion Weddings, curtains billowing with the seaside breeze, and a soft yet classic feel. Kimberly brought a little bit of her Michigan home to Rhode Island, with favors of jam canned by her family with fresh Michigan berries. Ahh, we can’t stop staring at these gorgeous images from Julia Wade Photography! Nestled in the foothills of Highlands, North Carolina, The Farm at Old Edwards Inn is an elegant venue for Sarahbeth and Lee’s classic wedding. Oakleaf Flower & Garden brought in tons of white lilies and hydrangeas to mix with earthy greenery, transforming the inn into a dreamy and romantic setting for Sarahbeth and Lee. We are in love with Sarahbeth’s fur, which she wore over a stunning beaded lace Martina Liana gown from Divas Boutique & Bridal. Black bridesmaids dresses from The Dessy Group fit right into the classic feel of the day, coordinated by Taylor Wright of Old Edwards Inn & Spa. At the reception, tables are crowned with more white florals, some arranged in sparkly mercury glass for subtle shine. A simple square wedding cake from Creative Pastries by Sid, set atop a silver cake stand, is another timeless detail of this beautiful affair. Oh how we love a flawless wedding like this one!

You know when two wedding photographers are getting married, it’s bound to be spectacular! And such is Sarah and Matt‘s magical affair at Salvage One. The industrial, whimsical locale was perfect for pastel florals from Fleur, romantic candlelight, and vintage decor from BHLDN. We adore their invites, elegant but fun with silhouettes, from Love vs. Design. Sarah said no to traditional bridesmaids and matching dresses, and instead focused on a gorgeous classic gown from J.Crew for herself paired with glittery Kate Spade shoes. Special touches at the event, coordinated by Liven It Up Events, included desserts from Molly’s Cupcakes, mini burgers from The Slide Ride food truck, and custom cloth napkins by Dot & Army. We’re swooning over the amazing images by Pen / Carlson and we know you’ll agree that it’s one of our favorites of 2013!

Isn’t Elizabeth and Scot’s wedding at Cairnwood in Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania, just lovely?! We adore the stunning outdoor landscape, especially with the lush and elegant flowers created by Papertini Floral & Event Design. A simple floral motif was repeated on the classic stationery from Lucky Luxe as well. The romantic blooms are especially gorgeous paired with soft pink Amsale bridesmaids dresses and Elizabeth’s amazing lace Jim Hjelm gown. The perfect accessory to her ensemble–a vintage scalloped lace mantilla veil–is from Bel Aire Bridal. At the reception, with help from Stephen Starr Events, the romance continued thanks to lace linens, pink and cream touches in decor and flowers, and a tall round confection from Whipped Bakeshop on a gold cake stand that we love! We’re simply swooning over these images from Sweetwater Portraits!

Katie and Ryan’s Rochester Hills, Michigan wedding may as well have been set in a faraway European village for all of its breathtaking fairy-tale details. Starting with a ceremony at First Congregational Church of Rochester, where old-world elegance abounds, Katie walked down the aisle in a gown from Le Salon that can only be described as amazing. Her cathedral-length veil featured embroidery that gave the ensemble a vintage feel. A bridal party dressed in black and white added drama to the day. For the reception at Meadow Brook, lush cream and pink flowers from Bellisario Floral and an abundance of white candles set on silver stands created an ethereal atmosphere. One of our favorite details is the classic cake from Sweet and Savory Bake Shop set on an antique gold stand atop gold sequin linens. Simply gorgeous! It’s no wonder that classic style rules the day at Meghan and Aaron’s Chautauqua, New York, affair–after all, the wedding was held at The Hall of Philosophy at Chautauqua Institution, an education center and summer resort where Meghan’s family goes back generations. To set the tone for their day, the couple sent out vintage-style stationery designed by the groom, Aaron Fetter. Following the outdoor ceremony, where bridesmaids wore short pink Jenny Yoo Collection dresses that sweetly coordinated with hydrangea bouquets by Francesca’s Floral Design, guests headed to the resort’s Athenaeum Hotel for a laid-back reception that included a buttercream cake from The Cakery, plenty of dancing, and the release of paper sky lanterns, which lit up much the way Meghan did in her Watters gown! Tiffany and Jim’s lovely wedding in Ann Arbor, Michigan, is filled with soft details and pretty blue accents. The silk draping near the altar of St. Mary Student Parish matched the bridesmaids dresses from BHLDN and the groomsmen ties with their Jos. A. Bank suits. Forming a lighter palette were the florals by Chelsea Flower Shop, LLC, which paired nicely with the lace touches on invitations and tables at the Michigan League Ballroom reception. We love all of the classic elements Heather Jowett captured, including the timeless cake design by Decadent Delight. And, in a fun twist, Tiffany swapped her gorgeous Maggie Sottero gown for a shorter tulle dress before she and Jim left their reception to begin a new life together.

Sarah and Francis’s wedding is seaside splendor at its finest! The stunning cream, chocolate, and green color scheme is simply breathtaking in Florida’s Seaside Interfaith Chapel and on the lush Lyceum Lawn, where the ceremony and reception were held. Shades of ivory and white flowers in bouquets from Events by Nouveau Flowers provided an elegant vibe to the beachfront wedding. Sarah added sweet touches like a lace wrap and a cameo pin that belonged to her grandmother to her flowers; the bridesmaids’ bouquets were wrapped in the same fabric as the sashes on their LulaKate dresses. Sarah’s lace Monique Lhuillier gown is totally amazing—we love the vintage feel of the matching jacket! Francis wore a fabulous khaki-striped bow tie from High Cotton—such a fun Southern twist on a traditional tie. Even though the overall vibe of the day was true sophistication, Sarah and Francis wove in laid-back elements at their outdoor reception, like a signature cocktail served in jars, laid-back lounge seating, and a perfectly imperfect buttercream cake from Confections on the Coast. There are so many great ideas in the gorgeous images from VUE Photography that we can’t pick a favorite, but we wish you luck trying!

We just adore the springy peach and pink tones and floral theme running throughout Laura and Marcus’s wedding in Horseshoe Bend, Texas! Rustic elements like succulents and wooden crates mixed with peach and pink florals and mercury glass vases, all from Petal Pushers, transformed the Escondido Golf & Lake Club into a garden wonderland for the entire affair. With help from DFW Events Event Planning & Design, the couple got the laid-back, sophisticated vibe they wanted. The shot of sky blue in Jenny Yoo Collection bridesmaids dresses is gorgeous with peach bouquets, and Laura’s lace Monique Lhuillier gown is just to die for! Earthy elements like green moss ground the flowery elements and keep them from being too whimsical, and more peach flowers grace the classic cake from Coco Paloma Desserts. For their Lake Tahoe nuptials, Kristi and Don really wanted one last snowfall to hit the ground, so they spent the wedding day eve wishing and hoping for nature to cooperate. “It snowed heavily the night before and cleared up the afternoon of the wedding, which made it perfect for an outside celebration under the trees!” says Kristi.  Chic gray bridesmaids dresses from Priscilla of Boston were an elegant complement to Kristi’s Rivini gown. Art in Bloom Floral Wedding Designs created white, peach, and green bouquets and reception arrangements that reflected the rustic setting of the The Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe while still maintaining a sophisticated vibe. We’re in awe of the beautiful photos from Sloan Photographers—the gorgeous light reflects the glow in this happy couple’s eyes!

Even though Nan and Matt were nervous about the “temperamental, hurricane-season North Carolina weather,” the couple married outdoors at The Crabapple Garden at Fearrington Village near Chapel Hill under bright blue skies. Julia Wade Photography took the gorgeous pictures of Nan and Matt’s day, which included a barn reception, lush white florals by Mary Stevens of Fearrington Village, and a pretty textured cake by Jill Leckey, also of Fearrington Village. Nan’s lace Alvina Valenta gown was classic all the way, but the bright blue Badgley Mischka heels she wore offered an elegant pop of color and a nod to her alma mater, Duke. The bridesmaids also wore bright blue Amsale dresses, while the groomsmen’s light blue High Cotton bow ties pledged their allegiance to Matt’s alma mater, the University of North Carolina. They may be split on college loyalties, but we all agree that this was a practically perfect wedding weekend!

Brooke and Bobby’s big day was a total family affair in Valley Center, California. Held at the mother of the bride’s home—bordering a vineyard—Brooke describes the atmosphere as “like a Tuscan countryside at sunset with twinkling lights and candles set in the trees.” It certainly sounds breathtaking, and the images from Color Me Rad are just that, too. Brooke’s stepfather built a bridge for her to walk across—glowing in a dress designed by her stepmother and jewelry from ArtHappens—in lieu of an aisle. The Third Coast Jazz Band played as twilight settled over this perfect day. “You could just feel the love that went into this special occasion,” says Brooke.

We’re not sure it gets more breathtaking than celebrating your wedding at a winery in Sonoma! Stephanie and Frank chose the gorgeous Viansa Winery for theirs, and the couple agrees that “reality exceeded our expectations!” Volatile Photography captured every little detail, from the soft pink and cream blooms fashioned by Vanda Floral Design to the vibrant rose-topped cake from Fleur de Lisa. The romantic tented reception area, with lots of pink, white and gold details, is making us swoon. We are in ooh-la-la love with Stephanie’s hot pink Badgley Mischka shoes—the jewel-encrusted brooch on each one repeats the same detail as the edging of her Pronovias gown. It’s the little things that make a big day!

The pastoral beauty of the Clifton Inn in Charlottesville acted as the backdrop for Jen and Joseph’s outdoor ceremony, and they couldn’t have asked for a more gorgeous Virginia day! We adore the soft green, gold, and blue color palette inspired by the seaside, and the beautiful floral table runner. All of the simple but elegant details, from lush hydrangea bouquets by Southern Blooms to Jen’s lovely strapless scalloped gown, were captured by the impeccable Katie Stoops and we are utterly in love.
