Fresh + Colorful Outdoor Wedding

When Amy and James wanted seemingly opposing aesthetics for their weddings day: modern design with romantic touches. By choosing the Nevada Museum of Art in Reno, Nevada, as their location and allowing florist B&B Designs to craft soft, pastel arrangements of dahlias, peonies and roses, this couple got the best of both worlds—and we’re smitten with the outcome! Amy looked stunning in her layered Pronovias ball gown, beside bridesmaids decked out in short purple dresses from J. Crew. The rooftop of the Nevada Museum of Art made for a stunning setting for Amy and James’ ceremony, while the indoors lent a crisp, clean slate for their simple reception decor. And the cake—oh the cake! By Nothing Bundt Cakes, Amy and James’ red velvet cake was dripping with flavorful icing so enticing we can almost taste it now! Emily and Walter planned a gorgeous Southern fete for their wedding in Atlanta, complete with lush rose-and-hydrangea arrangements and bouquets—a must in Georgia!—by Tulip Blooming Creations. These images from Amy Arrington Photography show sunny smiles despite the stormy weather. Who wouldn’t be thrilled to feel miles away from the city at the garden setting of Callanwolde Fine Arts Center, where guests danced to the banjo music from Drivetrain before Sabor! Brass Band, ATL serenaded the second line dance. This Louisiana tradition, a nod to Walter’s roots, pulled folks to their feet for a winding parade around the reception site, as the happy couple led them carrying vintage 1940s parasols to a vintage getaway car. Such a fun way to end a perfect night!

When a couple as creative as Josselyn and Jason get together with equally talented vendors and friends, wedding magic happens. This wedding was a relaxed and elegant affair in beautiful tones of blush, nude and cream, and was put together almost entirely by the couple and their friends. While Jolene Hilliard arranged stunning and organic floral bouquets, the couple and their nearest-and-dearest decorated a single 60-foot-long table with hanging tea lights and handmade napkins. Josselyn looked breathtakingly beautiful in her dress by Tadashi Shoji — so beautiful that we can’t stop staring at its beaded back! This couple truly transformed Redlands, California’s Oakmont Park into a magical, elegant and incredibly chic venue, and the photos by James Christianson are pure heaven!

Maggie and Greg’s laid-back country wedding is sweeter than sweet tea! In fact, their wedding was a tribute to their Southern roots and had two main priorities: good food and good fun for all their family and friends. They had quite a few DIY details including the beautiful doily table runner, the design for their wedding invitations, and the two homebrews the couple created for their big day. We’re crazy about their gorgeous flowers by Amy Osaba and all the sweet photos by Heidi Geldhauser of Our Labor of Love!

A day 14 years in the making, Annabelle and Andrew’s wedding was certainly a celebration! A celebration with phenomenal flowers (done by the bride’s aunts!), a pretty venue, a ton of handmade and homemade details, loving friends and family, and one killer pair of shoes! They were married at Murray Hill, a Virginia home with views overlooking the Potomac River, and then moved inside to the barn which was lovingly decorated with hundreds of vintage jars and vases filled with flowers like ranunculus, protea, orchids, hypericum, and freesia. The couple used many vintage and heirloom pieces collected by friends and family which according to the couple made the day feel like “a true labor of love”! If Diana and Danny’s everyday lives are even half as chic as their Southern California wedding, they’re definitely some of the most stylish people ever! This beautiful couple was married at the Cravens Estate in Pasadena surrounded by friends and family from all over. There are many details about their wedding that I love (like Diana’s amazing shoes and accessories) but once I saw their colorful florals I was smitten! Rooted Harmony blended rich textures and colors to create bright and elegant arrangements that include peonies, roses, wax flower, astilbe, eucalyptus, and even succulents! Courtney and Rob’s big day was an event 10 years in the making. High school sweethearts, they were married in Texas’ lovely Hill Country (where they went to college) in a beautiful outdoor ceremony at Pecan Grove. I’m still swooning over the absolutely incredible florals by Wow Factor who live up to their name with the unbelieveable ceremony arch literally dripping with luscious hydrangea and roses in ivory, peach, and blush. Classic with just the slightest touch of country rustic, I’m crazy about Courtney and Rob’s wedding and all the fantastic photos by Nicole Chatham!

Crystal and Brian married in an intimate Atlanta garden wedding. Their venue, The Pace House, is precious and I love all of the sweet and whimsical florals and Crystal’s fabulous shoes! Crystal collected several birdcages to use as decor, and with the help of Ashley Baber brought her “Anthropologie meets the South” theme to life! Peachtree Photography captured all of the lovely images, we are in love!

Ansley and Cory dreamed of a whimsical garden wedding, and their hopes were realized with the selection of Newnan, Georgia’s spectacular Dunaway Gardens as their venue. The ivy-covered amphitheater provides the most unique ceremony locale—the perfect pairing of a secret garden nestled amongst the trees and a tiered ceremony in the round! The couple worked with Chancey Charm to design their late summer soiree, with a warm color palette of gray, yellow, maroon, and pops of vivid red. Logan Woods created colorful bouquets of protea, chrysanthemum, tulips, and garden roses and decorated the reception tent with whimsical basket chandeliers and loose garden-style arrangements. Ansley is the epitome of the classic bride in a Lian Carlo gown from Kelly’s Closet, while her maids donned the Aiden dress by Jenny Yoo. We couldn’t think of a more lovely way to start the week than with a Taylor and Hagan’s fairytale wedding at Nestldown, a fairytale location set in the Santa Cruz mountains among the redwoods. The couple worked with Gavita Flora to create a setting bursting with color and whimsy, and befitting the location in its full bloom. Long farmhouse tables from Classic Party Rentals were set with crisp white china and a mixture of soft greenery, fresh fruit, and vibrant full blooms. Set against all of the colorful florals, the maids’ J.Crew gowns in the palest of ivory were angelic, but of course nothing could upstage Taylor in her stunning Hayley Paige gown from Haute Bride. This wedding has our whole heart. We are completely smitten by each gorgeous image from Anna Marks Photography!

Tammi and Dave’s wedding at the modern L’Auberge Del Mar is the epitome of sophistication. The couple let the seaside backdrop set the stage and kept their attire and decor soft and romantic. Tammi is exquisite in a floaty Sarah Seven gown, while her maids donned white chiffon frocks of their choosing. The gossamer gowns allowed the lush, organic florals from Isari Flower Studio to bring a touch of color, with each bouquet its own unique and whimsical creation. Earthy elements such as a rustic wedding arbor, herbs nestled in the centerpieces and peppermint soap favors from Bar Soap Brooklyn echoed the gorgeous surroundings, and crisp white linens and calligraphy escort cards (hand-lettered by Tammi) added a modern touch. Good morning lovelies and happy 2015! We are so excited to usher in a new year full of beautiful soirees, and couldn’t think of a better way to kick off a new year than Nga and Tinh’s lovely wedding at Los Altos History Museum. Classic garden romance was the theme of the day. The couple partnered with Oliveta Design to design a lush, sophisticated reception with bouquets and centerpieces full of greenery and roses in a rainbow of pastels from Studio Mondine. Nga is a vision in a relaxed Jenny Packham gown and Gucci heels, perfectly paired with a ribbon-tied bouquet, and her three maids wore hand-picked frocks in the palest of blush from BHLDN and J.Crew. We simply adore each and every detail—right down to the floral garland on the getaway car from Elegant Journey—in these stunning images from Clary Pfeiffer!

“Our wedding day started off with the nikah ceremony at our mosque in the morning, a solemn and sacred social contract between the bride and groom in the Islamic tradition,” says bride Irfana of her wedding to Arif. Afterward, guests headed to Canoe restaurant in Atlanta for cocktail hour and Indian wedding traditions beneath a tent set up in the gardens. For the first ceremony, Irfana wore a beautiful sari from Motifz Signature Collection, changing into a knee-length lace dress by Anna Sui from BHLDN for the reception. Soft, lush florals by Heather Jones of Tulip graced tables; Irfana’s bouquet featured pastel blooms dotted with succulents. We adore the attention to detail here: vintage cigar boxes on tables, elaborate henna tattoos for Irfana and family members, and the floral hair wreath she wore for both ceremonies. Alexa and Virgil fell in love with the Tuscan style of Villa del Sol d’Oro in Sierra Madre, California, which was the charming backdrop of their romantic outdoor wedding. Allowing the venue and the spring season to serve as inspiration, they worked with Blushing Romance to create chic florals that enhanced the surroundings. Lush peonies, ranunculus, and anemones combined with dusty miller are soft and lovely; we love the light pinks paired with black bridesmaids dresses and romantic hair styles by Raluca Bucse. Alexa’s stunning Saison Blanche Couture gown from Mary Me Bridal is slightly modern, with a shirred tulle skirt that is simply divine! Alexa and Virgil remember the entire affair as the perfect day. “The atmosphere was phenomenal!” says the bride. “Everything went so smoothly that day, we were fully enjoying our wedding and soaking in very happy moment.” We are head over heels for these gorgeous images from Diana Marie Photography!

The beautiful New England seaside town of New Shoreham, Rhode Island, was the setting for Grace and Mark’s bohemian outdoor wedding. Held at the Spring House Hotel, bridesmaids wore navy gowns they chose themselves, while pretty bride Grace chose a Saja Wedding gown paired with metallic heels from J.Crew. Her loosely tied bouquet of standard roses, scabiosa pods, snapdragon, zinnia, dusty miller and seeded eucalyptus from Painted Rock Designs was reminiscent of the custom stationery she and Mark designed themselves. The indoor-outdoor reception took full advantage of the views, which guests spilling out onto the deck to enjoy the ocean breeze and cake from Aldo’s Bakery. Sara and Chris’s romantic garden wedding at Hartley Botanica simply has us swooning! For starters, Sara’s White by Vera Wang gown–in a soft and sweet shade of pink–is nothing short of amazing! And with a backdrop like that, pastel roses in more shades of pink and lavender are a must; we adore the lush bouquet by Belle of the Ball Designs that Sara carried! Whimsical floral stationery from Minted further grounded the theme of this affair, where Sara and Chris took their vows beneath a canopy of curly branches, twinkling lights, and a jaw-dropping chandelier covered in lush blooms. Kelly and Nick’s intimate Ann Arbor wedding had us at hello! Not only are we a sucker for weddings with dogs (and this wedding has two of ’em!) but we are smitten with the beribboned altar, the loft setting at Zingerman’s Events on 4th, and the gorgeous reception with string lights, a chalkboard photo booth backdrop, and beautiful flowers by Sweet Pea Floral Design! We love the pretty pastels woven throughout Su and Ray’s outdoor wedding at Promontory Point in Chicago’s Burnham Park. Lush bouquets of pink and cream ranunculus and peonies mixed with dusty miller by Vale of Enna are the perfect complement to romantic coral bridesmaids dresses by Jarlo. Su’s Vera Wang gown is hands-down one of our favorites ever, with a big structured bow taking the focal point of the gown’s front. To celebrate their heritage, Su and Ray incorporated a tea ceremony into the celebrations, and the red dress Su wore to cut the cake from Bridgeport Bakery is simply stunning! The Old Florida setting of Ponte Vedra Inn & Club was the ideal spot for Elisha and Palmer’s wedding guests to come together for a fun, get-to-know-you weekend. The couple chose to hold their ceremony on a Friday, so everyone could enjoy laid-back time on the beach after the festivities. After Elisha walked down the aisle in an Ann Taylor gown—attended by bridesmaids in gray, halter-style J.Crew dresses and flanked by lush peach and yellow spring arrangements by Liz Stewart Floral Design—the intimate group headed to the club, where they danced to the music of Diggin’ Rhythm N’ Brass and feasted on a gorgeous cake from Beaches Pastry. The photos from Brooke Images are breathtaking—we can only imagine how fabulous this wedding was in person!

When she pictured her wedding with Eric, Jodi envisioned rustic elegance—a blend of wood, lace and a touch of sparkle that would make a lasting impression on their guests. With Southern California’s elegant Walnut Grove ranch as their backdrop, the couple took on a multitude of do-it-yourself endeavors, as well as spent hours scouring Etsy for the perfect invitations, programs and favors. “I poured my heart into every little detail, and it ended up just how I had imagined it.,” the bride says. We’re head-over-heels for every detail ourselves, from the wooden centerpiece boxes etched with the couple’s initials to the pastel blooms that florist Regina Robertson arranged in each box. And those cakes! This couple had not one but three incredible, delectable whipped creations from Cindy Harber. We can only imagine they were as delicious as they look!
