Pink + Navy Winter Wedding

Simple elegance is what this graphic designer bride (she designed the invites herself!) had in mind for her late-summer Boston wedding, held at the sleek Ritz-Carlton Boston Common. Ann and Dave pulled it off, with all-white arrangements and bouquets by private florist William Mizuta and a breathtaking lace gown from Monique Lhuillier. White pillar candles and clear glass vases kept the evening sparkling and completed the contemporary look while also infusing warmth. The only source of color—navy bridesmaids dresses from Priscilla of Boston—are a bold, graphic element in the airy scheme. Photos from Kate Rose Photography capture the minimalist design that’s anything but stark and cold. Ann says everyone spent most of the night dancing to music by Soho, which meant the couple and their guests burned off enough calories to indulge in a four-tier dessert from Cakes to Remember. We think this whole affair is something to remember!

For their Massachusetts wedding day, Alex and Chris wanted nothing but everyone to have a splendid time, good food, good drinks, and good memories being passed around. All captured through the lens of The Light and Color Wedding Photography, the Ipswich couple chose to have a traditional wedding day. Alex chose a classic A-line Hayley Paige beauty and the cherry on top of her trousseau was her mom’s veil that she donned for her day. Their ceremony was held at St. John’s Prep (fun fact: Alex is a dentist and St. John’s Prep was the same school where Alex’s boss and Chris’s dad went. The guys are still good friends!), Chris’s high school alma mater. For their wedding reception, they dressed up The Hellenic Center in shades of soft blues and pinks, and organic-style blooms designed by Chris’s sister-in-law, Teresa. Weddings like these that are centered around family and steeped in tradition always leave such a feel-good warmth to our day.

Meg and Matt were married on a gorgeous fall day in Cambridge, MA at the lovely Multicultural Arts Center. The couple were instantly charmed by the historical venue with its gorgeous high mint and gold ceiling and urban, sophisticated feel. With the color palette of the venue as their inspiration, they selected florals from Nature’s Design in neutral white and ivory, with wild touches such as branches, berries, and succulents. Meg’s bridesmaids each selected a beaded or sequin metallic dress and—paired with her chic Nicole Miller gown—the effect is spectacular! Meg’s father home-brewed 40 growlers of beer, which he drove to Massachusetts from Iowa, inspiring the reception’s “I-90 Beer Bar”, and he also collected vintage beer glasses, which were served at the bar and doubled as favors. We love all of the couple’s personal touches such as a playful Jenga guest book, feather place cards, and cannolis in place of a traditional cake! We adore each lovely image from George Rivera!

We’re crushing pretty hard on Jennifer and Matt’s breathtaking San Francisco wedding in all its sleek black and white glory! The ceremony, held at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church, was a vision of structured elegance–starting with Jennifer’s mod Romona Keveza Collection gown (that back sash!) from Bridal Galleria and floor-length black Bill Levkoff dresses on bridesmaids. The black, ivory, and gold reception at The Olympic Club featured all white florals from Asiel Design, including centerpieces of cascading white orchids that are simply stunning. We love the personal touch of hand-carved shorebirds on the tables, done by Jennifer’s decoy carver father. A dessert table with confections from SusieCakes lent an air of fun to this sophisticated affair. Despite having to move their Saturday Seaside nuptials to a Friday due to a threatening tropical storm–and pulled off with little stress, says the bride, thanks to Shelby Peaden Events–Blaire and Bill’s wedding day couldn’t have been more picture perfect! These breathtaking images from Dear Wesleyann have us swooning over every detail, from sky blue bridesmaids dress by LulaKate to the lacy and elegant Nicole Miller gown Blaire chose. Magnolia leaf wreaths embellish the pews at the chic Seaside Chapel, where the bright light mixed with the cool colors creates a sophisticated at-the-beach vibe. At the reception held on the Central Park lawn at Alys Beach, seagrass textures and white florals, blue candles, and a subtle ocean theme are stunning thanks to Events by Nouveau. We’re loving the gold accents, too, from Chiavari chairs and linens to the calligraphy invitation suite from Paper Affair to Blaire’s metallic Jimmy Choo heels!

We are just loving these images of Ashley and Michael’s New Orleans wedding! The historic feel of the city blended with modern touches and classic details is the perfect combination for a stunning affair! We’re amazed at the breathtaking architecture of St. Louis Cathedral, site of the ceremony, as well as the timeless setting of The Roosevelt New Orleans, where the reception was held. “I wanted a classic and romantic feel for the ceremony and reception,” says Ashley. “My vision was lots of creams and whites in the furniture and flowers with lots of candles and mirrored accents. Our florist, Bahara of Plants N’ Petals, did an absolutely amazing job bringing our vision to life!” Sophisticated black bridesmaids dresses from LulaKate are dramatic, especially beside Ashley’s dazzling Rivini gown with a dramatic scalloped skirt! We just can’t get enough of the bridal party’s amazing ensemble! We love the glam accents at the reception, too, from crystal candelabras to a swiss dot cake by The Roosevelt New Orleans and the bride and groom’s classic NOLA ending: a second line with umbrellas! Speechless is the word to describe how we feel about Shannon and Matt’s stunning Chicago wedding! These images from Emilia Jane leave us breathless from beginning to end, starting with the strapless column gown from Manuel Mota for Pronovias that Shannon paired with a long, simple veil from Mira Couture and a headpiece she made herself from a Nadri necklace. Shannon’s modern princess look was topped off with gold platform Brian Atwood shoes. Soft peony and garden rose blooms in pink, peach, and cream by Vale of Enna Flowers created a romantic atmosphere. Custom sequin linens by Ryan Turner of Stemline Creative add a sophisticated shot of glamour, and the centerpiece of the setup–a tinsel chandelier by James McDermott–had the bride swooning most of all. “Everything dazzled all night as the light twinkled off of the tinsel and bounced on to the walls,” says Shannon. Changing out of her gown into a bespoke reception dress by Azeeza, Shannon joined Matt on the dance floor for a non-traditional first dance before cutting into their gold leaf-accented cake by Tipsycakes. We’re in total agreement with Shannon when asked what our favorite part of this beautiful wedding is: all the sparkle!

We have one word to describe Lauren and Patrick’s Laguna Beach wedding: stunning! The Montage Laguna Beach is a special site for the couple, it’s the location of one of their first “real” dates, their proposal, and now their elegant, California-style wedding. Lauren and Patrick worked with Jeannie of Details Details to bring their vision to life and incorporated several elements honoring Lauren’s Chinese ancestry, including a tea ceremony, Zen garden inspired florals by Inviting Occasion, and savory treats from the famous dumpling restaurant Din Tai Fung. We are completely head-over-heels for Lauren’s Jenny Lee Couture gown! After looking high and low for her perfect dress with little success, Lauren worked with Jenny Lee to create her dream dress from scratch! The fabulous end result featured a deep v-back and seemingly endless layers of gorgeous silk organza rosettes—a few even hand-painted in the palest of blues. Every thoughtful detail (right down to the “sweet past, present, and future” cake toppers) has our heart skipping a beat—we know you’ll agree this is one of the most gorgeous weddings of the year! Amanda and Mike’s big city Chicago wedding portrays a certain sweetness that is both charming and sophisticated! Following a traditional Catholic ceremony at St. Josaphat Parish, the couple and their friends and family headed to the gorgeous Chicago History Museum for a night of great food and dancing, thanks to Blue Plate catering and tunes from Matt Lewis and The Union. Amanda says she wouldn’t change a thing about the day, and we can see why! From the lovely ice blue bridesmaids dresses from Bella Bridesmaids to her own amazing Tara Keely gown, the attire was simple and elegant. Emilia Jane Photography captured beautiful images—we especially adore the iconic photos with the backdrop of the Chicago skyline! We love the mix of baby’s breath, peach roses, and white peonies in floral designs by Revel Décor, as well as the adorable confection by Amy Beck Cake Design—there’s so much to love, catch it all in the gallery!

Ooh la la, Carlisle and Cullen’s Houston wedding is full of fairy-tale ideas! For the church ceremony at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, Carlisle walked the aisle in a modern Monique Lhuillier gown with a skirt that flared at the bottom. We love the mix of contemporary details in such a traditional setting, like the sleek taupe LulaKate bridesmaids dresses paired with different bold-colored shoes! Carlisle carried an all white bouquet wrapped in satin while her bridal party opted for bright spring florals, all done by Bergner & Johnson Design. Belle of the Ball coordinated the day, including the fabulous reception at River Oaks Country Club, where tall white and green arrangements crowned tables with neutral and gold decor. We love the wall of framed mirrors that hold seat assignments! Susie’s Cakes & Confections created a classic white cake that made a lovely focal point with a flourish of yellow, pink, and red roses cascading down the side. How fantastic is the wedding of Missy and Tug on The Golden Isles of Georgia? We are stunned speechless by the Tiffany blue bridesmaids dresses and custom gown Missy designed for her label, Lissa Mar, and had made by Erica Angeline—absolutely gorgeous! The traditional ceremony at Wesley United Methodist Church at Frederica, on St. Simons Island, was followed by an elegant reception filled with modern touches at Missy’s parents’ home on Sea Island. Drawing inspiration from a chandelier Missy drew for the invitation suite, the reception features a turquoise chandelier hanging in a tent above chandelier-motif chair covers and pillows. Even the cake from Epting Events incorporated the drawing and turquoise color! Flowers from Vine Garden Market were mostly cream and pink and included the signature Southern bloom—lots and lots of lush hydrangeas. The pictures from the always amazing Laura Negri Photography capture every aspect of this perfect day, including Missy and Tug’s first dance on a glass floor laid over the pool! It doesn’t get any more classic New England pretty than Sara and Michael’s Nantucket wedding. Start out with a stunning bride in a Monique Lhuillier gown and shoes by Manolo Blahnik, add in gorgeous hydrangea and soft sweet peas in a refreshing pink and soft green color palette beautifully arranged by Soiree Floral, and top it off with a golf club wedding reception right on the water, and what you’ve got is pure Northern elegance. The images from Isaac Alongi Studios have me counting the days until I can get in the car and drive up north!

Southern weddings are usually steeped high in customs and ceremonies that are nothing short of endearing. When Catherine and Benjamin were planning their Richmond wedding, they made sure to include a bourbon burial and unearthing to hold off the rain for their big day (definitely a big deal in the south). Around her Tommy’s Garden bouquet, Catherine wrapped a handkerchief that her maternal grandmother had on her wedding day. She also commissioned Incredible Edibles Bakery to create a carrot cake tier since it was her paternal grandmother’s favorite. These touching gestures carry on through David Abel‘s lens as he captured some of the most heartfelt scenes during Catherine and Benjamin’s fall wedding. Not going to lie, the tender moments from this Virginia wedding took our breath away.

After Jessica and Zach got engaged, they sweetly joined Jessica’s parents on a trip to DC to celebrate their wedding anniversary. One of their excursions there was to take a walk on the grounds where her parents held their wedding ceremony, the National Cathedral. Naturally, they were so smitten with the gardens and the buildings that once they found out the Gothic-style cathedral was now hosting wedding receptions in addition to ceremonies, the New Yorkers jumped on the chance to get married there. Jessica wanted an “elegant and ethereal” day so with the help of Caroline Dutton Events and Kate & Lilly Floral Design, they drew inspiration from the Bishop’s Garden on the grounds. With Audra Wrisley capturing all the pretty pale pink roses, peonies, greenery, and everything in between, the duo said their I do’s and partied the night away in one of the most amazing venues we’ve seen.

Valerie and Ken’s Tower Hill Botanical Garden wedding was like walking into another time. Every corner was filled with gorgeous flowers and art, every detail simple in its elegance. The greenhouses and gardens at Tower Hill inspired the color and style for their wedding. Julie Lapham Designs created arrangements with succulents and airplants, roses, eucalyptus, and anemone, and many of the succulents are now growing in the couple’s home! Seeded paper escort cards doubled as favors, a Jenga game served as the guest book, and colorful tabletops graced the Orangerie. Mariana and Salazar’s Portugal wedding is a little slice of perfection! Mariana, an event planner, envisioned a classic wedding with a modern twist and the couple selected a timeless palette of white, green, and gold. Solar de Levada was the perfect setting. Elegant florals and candlelight were accented with on-trend geometric elements, from the hanging seating chart to circular taper candle holders, and even a greenery-adorned swing for guests to enjoy! Mariana chose a sophisticated Rosa Clara gown featuring a detatchable skirt (and pockets!), and accented the gorgeous gown with 92-year-old earrings gifted to her gread-grandmother by her great-grandfather on their wedding day. Salazar donned a chic suit/tuxedo mix, and a watch gifted to him by friends for his thirtieth birthday. The couple sprinkled their day with many handmade elements, from “tears of joy” tissue packets to little hangover kits for guests, and created some fun photobooth signage, which was a hit! Amy and Damian’s South Africa wedding is full of the most lovely florals and light, and we’re absolutely smitten. Designed and styled by Joelene of Oh Happy Day, the dusty pink and white palette perfectly showcased the Orchards Wedding Venue, a beautiful venue nestled in the rolling hills of the Caversham Valley. Adore Weddings created spectacular florals of blush and white blooms and greenery, including a suspended greenery ceiling arrangement, organic arm bouquet, gorgeous ceremony arch, and low and lush centerpieces that paired beautifully with silken runners, depression glass chargers, and taper candles. Each design element is thoughtfully curated and woven together to create an elegant and modern look that is also wonderfully relaxed and chic. Amy is resplendent in a sophisticated Casey Jeanne gown, and her maids donned flowing pink dresses from Chanelle Wright. Every moment is so romantic and beautiful that we could gush all day about how in love we are, but we’ll let the fantastic images from Bright Girl Photography tell the story instead!

There are some days that are simply perfect, and today is one of those days, because at long last, we are debuting Aisle Society to the world, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to share the absolutely gorgeous Aisle Society official brand shoot that I styled with Lauren of Every Last Detail and a dream team of Chicago’s best wedding pros at downtown’s most fabulous wedding venue, Chez. Together with the ladies from Estera Events, we set out to create an event that would showcase all of the things that Aisle Society represents: fun, friendship, community, and of course, utterly beautiful wedding inspiration! Dramatic draping from Drape Kings was the centerpiece of the room, swathed along the ceiling and leading to a ceremony altar flanked by simple but show-stopping eucalyptus arrangements from Fleur. In the rest of the details, we bathed the whitewashed space in color! Our gorgeous ladies donned frocks from Bella Bridesmaids and David’s Bridal in shades from blush to dusty blue and flowing Truvelle and Sarah Seven bridal gowns, carrying bouquets of vibrant summer blooms. The modern but elegant tabletop features glimmering sequin linens and rose gold chargers and amazing confetti popper menus from Sarah Drake Design. Laura and Joey’s Austin wedding is full of glitz and glamour! The couple was living in Connecticut while planning their Texas nuptials, so they brought in the fabulous CLINK to execute their vision of formal-meets-fun, with a healthy dose of sparkle. They selected The Driskill Hotel for their venue—it was love at first sight—and enlisted Amy of Merveille Event Design to create a mix of showstopping arrangements for the tables bedecked in gold sequin linens. Our favorite? The showstopping estate table with a “runner” of white roses and votive candles! Though Joey patiently assisted in choosing stationery and centerpieces, his excitement bubbled over at selecting the menu for the day. After consuming an inordinate amount of options during the tasting, he chose a nicely balanced selection of filet, sea bass, and veggie risotto to go along with their gorgeous cake from Simon Lee Bakery. We are head over heels for every perfect detail in these images from Forever Photography!

We are are simply in love with this stunning Italian wedding from Cinzia Bruschini! As if the country alone isn’t romantic enough, the beautiful setting of Fattoria Casamora combined with lush and lovely florals from Jardin Divers takes this gorgeous affair over the top. We can’t get enough of the flower hair wreaths adorning bridesmaids in bold, colorful dresses. The bride’s Celestina Agostino gown is a vision of vintage-style lace and elegance. Dripping candles and olive branches add local Tuscan flavor at the outdoor reception. We’re swooning over each and every one of these jaw-dropping images!
