Sophisticated + Chic NYC Wedding

How lovely is this New York City wedding? So lovely that it’s a 2012 favorite! The Carlyle is the perfect iconic, sophisticated spot for Jamie and Kevin’s soiree. But that’s where the big-city modern touches end! Instead, soft floral arrangements and bouquets by Amy Merrick Flowers & Styling complement the altar swag of lush greenery and white blooms. Jamie chose a classic Katie Ermilio gown with lace sleeves and a cathedral-length veil to walk down the aisle, surrounded by fewer than 15 family members and friends. We’re dying over the bright floral china used at the reception and the cascading sugar flowers on the cake. It felt like our lucky day when we opened these pretty photos from Kate Murphy Photography!

Sara and Michael narrowly escaped an impending snowstorm in order to pull off their fabulous NYC fete at the JW Marriott Essex House New York! These breathtaking images from Rebecca Yale Portraits have us swooning—from white tulip bouquets to lush textural white arrangements, fashioned by Lewis Miller Design, this wedding is classic, fresh, and stunning. Helping the couple from start to finish, including designing classic cream stationery, Reed Cohen Papers and Events ensured the details were flawless. We love the light lavender Bill Levkoff bridesmaids dresses, a pop of springtime color in this winter wedding, and Sara’s jewel-encrusted Pnina Tornai gown from Kleinfeld—such sophistication! Blingy details at the reception sparkled and shined among the gold and cream table settings. We are dying over the amazing chandeliers in the ballroom! A chic cake from Ron Ben-Israel Cakes is exactly what Sara and Michael envisioned, and after cutting into the confection, the couple participated in a traditional Jewish wedding dance, the horah, with their guests. Eric and Mike’s Chicago wedding could be straight out of the pages of Town and Country. Held on the 17th floor of the Public Chicago hotel, the couple opted for an intimate gathering of just 20 close friends and family, and they went all out for those lucky enough to garner an invite! Festivities included a pre-wedding dinner and drinks, ladies’ and gentlemen’s outings, and a ceremony and reception full of love and laughter. Eric and Mike chose classic tuxes and shirts by Hugo Boss Black Label, Lanvin and Escada, and we love the playful touches of the Ralph Lauren bow ties. Following their vows, the couple hosted an intimate, seated dinner that wowed guests, starting with the ombre yellow-to-white floral arrangement—designed by Jessica Griffin of Botanicals—running the length of the table and ending with sliced cake prepared by the pastry chef at Public Chicago, who also set up an indulgent dessert bar with takeout containers so everyone could enjoy a late-night sweet snack. Elizabeth Tulipana of Anticipation Events kept the day moving along flawlessly, and Kiri and Brett of Pen/Carlson were there to document every gorgeous part of the couple’s weekend. The love these two share is palpable, and we are completely smitten with each and every little detail and moment!

This uber-mod, chic wedding held at New York’s Three Sixty in Tribeca, is a study in monochromatic palettes and sleek sophistication! All white flowers with pops of green from Ovando keep the vibe romantic and contemporary, with planning from the always flawless Ang Weddings & Events. For the Buddhist ceremony, the bride chose a romantic beaded gown by Monique Lhuillier with a Pronovias belt, while her single bridesmaid wore a white dress with a similar silhouette from Badgley Mischka. Of course, we adore that the couple’s dog participated in the festivities, dressed in his own tux found on eBay!  These images from Susan Stripling are just stunning!

Jenna and Eddie’s modern New York City wedding is filled with color and elegant details that Christine Chang Photography captured in a timeless way! Pinks and purples are woven throughout all of the details, in fuchsia Ralph Lauren bridesmaids dresses, lavender and plum orchids from By Yena Designs, and even in Jenna’s multicolored glitter Jimmy Choo heels. We adore the bold hues against Jenna’s classic Monique Lhuillier gown! The W New York Union Square was the perfect backdrop for the ceremony and reception, offering an elegant contemporary space in the middle of the bustling city. Jenna and Eddie worked with Ang Weddings & Events to coordinate their affair, which included orchid details on stationery from In a Card, as well as on the garland cascading down the Ron Ben-Israel Cakes dessert. We’re swooning over this gorgeous celebration!

Christina and Sunil’s Vancouver wedding, held at the Rosewood Hotel Georgia, feels like cotton candy, and is just as sweet! Lots of soft pink and white details, in bouquets from Hilary Miles Flowers Ltd. and stationery from Love by Phoebe, along with other frothy touches from Filosophi Event Planning & Design and Sweet Beginnings Wedding Consulting and Event Planners, make this soiree one to remember. The filmy images from Melissa Gidney portray a fairy tale of a day, complete with elegant gray bridesmaids dresses from Frocks and a stunning mod bridal gown by Lazaro. Our favorite reception detail may just be the pink ombre wedding cake from Sweet Thea—such a fun idea! We just can’t stop staring at these romantic images—see the full wedding in the gallery!

Lea and John’s New York City wedding is hands-down one of the most sophisticated affairs ever! You can’t go wrong with chic black and white, and there’s plenty of that here—from the classic black bridesmaids dresses to Lea’s elaborately fabulous Monique Lhuillier gown, lush cream flowers by MC Nino Designs Floral & Events, and even the white cake dotted with black accents. The intricate Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity was the location of the traditional ceremony, then guests adjourned to Bridgewaters at the seaport for a formal reception filled with great food and dancing. We can’t take our eyes off these edgy, romantic images from Farnaz K Studio!

Amie and Daniel’s wedding at the Montage Beverly Hills is chic and beautifully modern! From Amie’s La Sposa gown, right down to the lace-wrapped candle holders on the stunning reception tables with florals by Trisha of Hidden Garden, each detail screams modern glamour. We are in love with the soft gray and purple reception—fluffy hydrangea, dusty miller, and rose centerpieces sit atop a mix of round and estate tables, and the low, purple lighting is perfect for the Montage ballroom. The entire day was meticulously planned and carried out by Jeanie Savage of Details Details and we just adore the gorgeous images from Troy Grover Photographers—see them all in the gallery!

We have just the perfect way to end the first week of 2012 – Raena and David’s gorgeous Manhattan wedding from 4Eyes Photography!  Classic and pretty in shades of pink, silver, and white, with stunning details designed by Adrienne Colosimo of Bespoke Affairs, this wedding is the epitome of chic New York style.  Fluffy pink peonies, elegant silver linens, and of course, the pièce de résistance – a Sylvia Weinstock cake!  Raena is positively stunning, and I just adore all of the fabulous images from Rupert and Kellie of 4Eyes Photography!

Laura and Joey’s Austin wedding is full of glitz and glamour! The couple was living in Connecticut while planning their Texas nuptials, so they brought in the fabulous CLINK to execute their vision of formal-meets-fun, with a healthy dose of sparkle. They selected The Driskill Hotel for their venue—it was love at first sight—and enlisted Amy of Merveille Event Design to create a mix of showstopping arrangements for the tables bedecked in gold sequin linens. Our favorite? The showstopping estate table with a “runner” of white roses and votive candles! Though Joey patiently assisted in choosing stationery and centerpieces, his excitement bubbled over at selecting the menu for the day. After consuming an inordinate amount of options during the tasting, he chose a nicely balanced selection of filet, sea bass, and veggie risotto to go along with their gorgeous cake from Simon Lee Bakery. We are head over heels for every perfect detail in these images from Forever Photography!

We’re crushing pretty hard on Jennifer and Matt’s breathtaking San Francisco wedding in all its sleek black and white glory! The ceremony, held at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church, was a vision of structured elegance–starting with Jennifer’s mod Romona Keveza Collection gown (that back sash!) from Bridal Galleria and floor-length black Bill Levkoff dresses on bridesmaids. The black, ivory, and gold reception at The Olympic Club featured all white florals from Asiel Design, including centerpieces of cascading white orchids that are simply stunning. We love the personal touch of hand-carved shorebirds on the tables, done by Jennifer’s decoy carver father. A dessert table with confections from SusieCakes lent an air of fun to this sophisticated affair. Speechless is the word to describe how we feel about Shannon and Matt’s stunning Chicago wedding! These images from Emilia Jane leave us breathless from beginning to end, starting with the strapless column gown from Manuel Mota for Pronovias that Shannon paired with a long, simple veil from Mira Couture and a headpiece she made herself from a Nadri necklace. Shannon’s modern princess look was topped off with gold platform Brian Atwood shoes. Soft peony and garden rose blooms in pink, peach, and cream by Vale of Enna Flowers created a romantic atmosphere. Custom sequin linens by Ryan Turner of Stemline Creative add a sophisticated shot of glamour, and the centerpiece of the setup–a tinsel chandelier by James McDermott–had the bride swooning most of all. “Everything dazzled all night as the light twinkled off of the tinsel and bounced on to the walls,” says Shannon. Changing out of her gown into a bespoke reception dress by Azeeza, Shannon joined Matt on the dance floor for a non-traditional first dance before cutting into their gold leaf-accented cake by Tipsycakes. We’re in total agreement with Shannon when asked what our favorite part of this beautiful wedding is: all the sparkle!

We have one word to describe Lauren and Patrick’s Laguna Beach wedding: stunning! The Montage Laguna Beach is a special site for the couple, it’s the location of one of their first “real” dates, their proposal, and now their elegant, California-style wedding. Lauren and Patrick worked with Jeannie of Details Details to bring their vision to life and incorporated several elements honoring Lauren’s Chinese ancestry, including a tea ceremony, Zen garden inspired florals by Inviting Occasion, and savory treats from the famous dumpling restaurant Din Tai Fung. We are completely head-over-heels for Lauren’s Jenny Lee Couture gown! After looking high and low for her perfect dress with little success, Lauren worked with Jenny Lee to create her dream dress from scratch! The fabulous end result featured a deep v-back and seemingly endless layers of gorgeous silk organza rosettes—a few even hand-painted in the palest of blues. Every thoughtful detail (right down to the “sweet past, present, and future” cake toppers) has our heart skipping a beat—we know you’ll agree this is one of the most gorgeous weddings of the year! Beverly and Nelson went for all-out glamour when planning their oceanside nuptials at The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel in California! This affair is made complete by the hundreds of blush, cream, and pink blooms fashioned by Nisie’s Enchanted Florist. To complement the sweet hues, bridesmaids wore lavender one-shoulder dresses from Banana Republic. Beverly’s Lazaro gown is hands-down one of the most stunning we’ve ever laid eyes on, with ruffles and beading and details for days! The whimsical jewel-encrusted butterflies adoring her Aruna Seth shoes are fun and elegant. Platinum Weddings by Kerrie assisted Beverly and Nelson so that the day was everything they hoped for, and after looking at these photos from Sarah K. Chen Photography, we wouldn’t change a thing! The soft colors in Alexa and Neal’s wedding at The New York Botanical Garden is such a fresh change of pace from typical big-city weddings! From pale pink peonies in Alexa’s bouquet to her breathtaking beaded Art Deco-style gown, we love the vintage feel of this affair from Mastin Studio. The couple incorporated pops of green into their reception decor, which gives the entire day an appropriate outdoor garden scheme. The soft pink fresh flowers on the cake with combed buttercream icing are the perfect touch. Get inspired by all of the lovely details in the gallery!

Annie and Phil’s wedding from Karen Hill Photography is simply gorgeous! We’re drooling over the landscape of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, a lush venue just minutes from the bustle of the city. Beautiful bright blooms from Denise Fasanello Flowers complement the surroundings, styled by Toby Ellen Sarna Events. We love the contrast of hot pink details and the pops of citrus green on letterpress ceremony programs and reception linens. Lauren and AJ’s elegant Nashville wedding was an old-school Southern affair that started with a ceremony at the beautiful Cathedral of the Incarnation. Soft taupe bridesmaids dresses played backdrop to hydrangea, lily, and magnolia leaf bouquets by OSHi International Floral Decor Studio. Lauren walked down the aisle in a strapless Justin Alexander gown from Sweet Elegance Bridal. After the traditional Catholic ceremony, guests headed to downtown’s The Hermitage Hotel, where classic green and cream florals and warm wood decor welcomed. Events by Janie helped coordinate the soiree, which featured balsa wood airplane place cards, a nod to AJ’s Air Force career, and an amazing cake from Dessert Designs. Alicia and Justin decided on an intimate Maui destination wedding for their nuptials, and the entire fete is just stunning! These images from Monique Feil Photography are breathtaking, showing Alicia as a gorgeous bride in her Oscar de la Renta gown and Justin beaming in a Gucci suit. Held outdoors at Haiku Mill, every detail of the event was meticulously attended by Stephanie Shepherd of Pua Le’a & Co. at Haiku Mill. Bella Grace Flowers Wedding & Event Design created lush white arrangements, first in Alicia’s rose bouquet and second with hydrangea and rose centerpieces lining the reception tables. Because the wedding was so small, Alicia didn’t have bridesmaids, but the couple instead live streamed the ceremony with help from Live Maui Webcasts. We love the classic monogrammed cake from Ghiselani Designer Wedding Cakes, as well as the stationery and logo design by Momental Designs. Good things come in small packages—or in this case, events—and we’re swooning over this one!

Oh how we adore an elegant New York wedding! Kimberly and John’s sophisticated day started with a ceremony at The Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine—where Kimberly wore a fabulous feather shrug over her Jenny Packham gown to quell the chill of the January day. Bridesmaids were decked out in convertible dresses by twobirds; Kimberly and her bridesmaids carried colorful, oversize bouquets by Poppies & Posies. The industrial backdrop of The Foundry, where the reception took place, was a nice counterpoint to the formal ceremony. Long tables dotted with votives and lights strung overhead created a romantic vibe for the rest of the evening. And we absolutely love the traveling bride and groom cake topper, a nod to the couple’s overseas meeting and shared hobby. Gorgeous Santa Monica California is the setting for Taryn and John’s sophisticated soirée.
