Laura and John—fresh from a flight home to Chicago from Istanbul!—spent a day around the West Loop with Julia Franzosa Photography for their casual but hip engagement photos. Navy and green are crisp and vibrant in their images at The Publican and near Fulton Market; monochromatic outfits on abandoned railroad tracks give off an earthy, laid-back vibe. The Victorian was the perfect Santa Monica venue for this cool California session, too, with its beautiful outdoor courtyard and dramatic indoor bar. From playing board games to enjoying a cocktail and lounging around with a good book,  this couple is gorgeous, cool and clearly completely smitten with each other!
Could there be a better way to celebrate two creative, vibrant, crazy-about-each other actors than with a colorful and fun engagement session in Chinatown? We certainly don’t think so! In fact, we couldn’t dream of a more perfect engagement shoot setting for Alex and Lawrence-Michael, a San Francisco couple who love theater and met while performing in the same musical. Alex (donning the fabulous bow tie) and Lawrence-Michael (rocking the beard) have an urban, preppy and modern style that comes to life in their adorable engagement photos. The bright murals, lantern-lined streets and painted brick backdrops are the cherry on top of this happy photo session, and we thank Tinywater Photography for sharing these amazing images!
Hayley and Luke were a bit nervous when meeting up with Marianne and Joe of Marianne Wilson Photography for their engagement photos, but once the couple sipped on milkshakes at a local diner in Santa Monica, they were all smiles! The gorgeous California surfer town could only be made prettier by the glow of these two, who went from diner to beach to picnic to get these images that effortlessly capture their low-key So-Cal personalities. Their dreamy eyes give them away—we know true love when we see it!
How appropriate that the backdrop for this engagement session is the happiest place on earth! Brittney and David—both Disney animators—had a pretty idyllic setting for their photo shoot with Matt and Angie of Sloan Photographers. You can’t help but smile when scrolling through these whimsical images—these are two people who know how to have fun together. We love that the personality of this creative couple comes shining through as bright as the California sun!
After getting engaged during a hot air balloon ride over Sonoma County, photographer Kristy Ahumada of Volatile Photography knew Carlyn and Davey would love a woodsy water setting reminiscent of that scenery for their photo session, complete with peonies from their garden. Fresh berries represent the couple’s love of picking fruit together, collected in a box crafted just for them by a friend. We can’t think of a sweeter way to capture the love between these two!
Although we don’t feature a ton of engagement shoots, this one was way too cute not to share! Tauren and Chris’ shoot was designed to show the seasons of their relationship and to ask their loved ones to join them in the next season of their lives. How sweet is that? They sipped lattes outside for the fall, snuggled up for a snowy Christmas inside, shared a colorful spring picnic, and ran around on the beach for summer. Let’s all take a moment (or two) out of our day to check out this bliss-inducing Janita Mestre wedding. It’s delightfully in the desert, so of course you’re going to spot a few cacti at Galway Downs, but you’re going to see such a dreamy color palette too. Being so close to Valentine’s Day, Stephanie and Alex wanted to evoke love all throughout, so they picked pink as their go-to hue. Big and bright blush and ivory florals by Events by Floral Sensations complemented the eye-catching David’s Bridal mauve bridesmaids’ dresses, and we loved this idea, too. Instead of continuing the soft tones everywhere, shake up the colors like Stephanie and Alex and throw a deep hue in the same color family somewhere that will be seen. Adding it to the bridesmaids’ dresses was a clever touch without overwhelming the couple’s desire to have an airy feel to their wedding day.
Though the setting may be in Southern California, the Villa Del Sol D’Oro transports us to Tuscany with its romantic European estate feel. Sweetest Love Events designed an elegant outdoor soiree with a beautiful mix of vintage elements and muted tones. Sibyl Sophia Floral Design created a showstopping bouquet and pastel garden-style arrangements for the alfresco reception and sweetheart tables, whose buttery tones echoed the villa’s graceful exterior. The stylish couple embraced the glamour with a sophisticated pale dove gray Willowby by Watters gown from Mary Me Bridal and classic tuxedo from The Black Tux . We are head over heels for Lauren and Taylor’s chic blue-and-white San Francisco wedding! Lauren, a wedding planner herself, immediately began pulling together ideas after Taylor’s proposal, so that—with the help of Ryder Sloan Events—they could have an outdoor affair to remember. She started with the location, Stable Cafe. The urban garden space was a great backdrop for a collection of blue-and-white ginger jars filled with florals from Mandolin Flowers. Plumosa fern garlands and cafe lights added an air of sophistication, while classic arrangements of hydrangeas, anemones, and roses accented tables covered with Swiss dot linens from La Tavola. Lauren wore her cousin’s couture Carolina Herrera Bridal gown with embellished blue Manolo Blahnik heels, a Christmas gift from Taylor; her bouquet was wrapped with long pieces of vintage lace and blue velvet ribbon. Amy Nichols Special Events ensured the day ran smoothly from start to finish, which included transforming the courtyard after the ceremony into a luxe space for dinner and dancing, along with lounging areas outfitted with seating from One True Love Vintage Rentals. Later in the evening, guests sipped warm spiked cocktails from the DIY coffee bar, the perfect accompaniment to a salted caramel wedding cake from Cake Coquette—the design of the dessert mimicked the ginger jar pattern. We’re crushing pretty hard on Jennifer and Matt’s breathtaking San Francisco wedding in all its sleek black and white glory! The ceremony, held at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church, was a vision of structured elegance–starting with Jennifer’s mod Romona Keveza Collection gown (that back sash!) from Bridal Galleria and floor-length black Bill Levkoff dresses on bridesmaids. The black, ivory, and gold reception at The Olympic Club featured all white florals from Asiel Design, including centerpieces of cascading white orchids that are simply stunning. We love the personal touch of hand-carved shorebirds on the tables, done by Jennifer’s decoy carver father. A dessert table with confections from SusieCakes lent an air of fun to this sophisticated affair. We adore the elegant Pasadena wedding of Sarah and Ron! These images from Stewart Uy are like a fairytale, with frothy pinks and lots of ethereal tulle. Sarah wore a custom gown from Kara Wedding for the ceremony at Glendale Presbyterian Church and reception at the stunning Imperial Palace Banquet Hall. We’re loving the unique mix of blush peonies, black anemones and white ranunculus in Sarah’s bouquet by Dana of Karen’s Garden. Two of our fave details are the romantic taupe bridesmaids dresses and the garden of blooms surrounding the cake from Queen’s Bakery. Simply gorgeous! When asked about her favorite memory of the day, Sarah shares, “I love the last few shots taken of us dancing. It was the perfect ending to such a beautiful, crazy day.” We couldn’t agree more with her sentiment!
“We knew that we wanted an intimate setting that was surrounded by lush greenery, and we fell in love with the beautiful Firestone Vineyard in Los Olivos, California,” says bride Amy. We’re in love, too, with every lush and gorgeous detail of Amy and Brett’s wedding, especially the peonies! “The flowers were some of most beautiful floral arrangements I have seen! “We were absolutely blown away by the work that Green Leaf Designs did,” says Amy. Fluffy bouquets and table centerpieces included peonies, garden roses, gardenias, and hydrangeas in shades of coral, peach, pink, and ivory. Also draped with gorgeous florals was the couple’s ceremony arch, beneath which Amy stood wearing a classic strapless gown and lace-edged veil. Coral bridesmaids dresses continued the color palette. We adore the whimsical details of the pink-and-blue trellis-print ceremony programs by Ree Jae Chi. Taking family duties far beyond the expected, Amy’s sister, a wedding planner at CCL Weddings & Events, engineered nearly every element of the big day herself. Alexa and Virgil fell in love with the Tuscan style of Villa del Sol d’Oro in Sierra Madre, California, which was the charming backdrop of their romantic outdoor wedding. Allowing the venue and the spring season to serve as inspiration, they worked with Blushing Romance to create chic florals that enhanced the surroundings. Lush peonies, ranunculus, and anemones combined with dusty miller are soft and lovely; we love the light pinks paired with black bridesmaids dresses and romantic hair styles by Raluca Bucse. Alexa’s stunning Saison Blanche Couture gown from Mary Me Bridal is slightly modern, with a shirred tulle skirt that is simply divine! Alexa and Virgil remember the entire affair as the perfect day. “The atmosphere was phenomenal!” says the bride. “Everything went so smoothly that day, we were fully enjoying our wedding and soaking in very happy moment.” We are head over heels for these gorgeous images from Diana Marie Photography!
Cheyenne and John’s lovely wedding at The Outdoor Art Club in Mill Valley, California, is an earthy but elegant interpretation of the local scenery, with garden florals by Studio Choo and a ceremony beneath a canopy of lush green trees. Continuing with the bohemian spirit of the day, Cheyenne’s matron of honor and solo bridesmaid chose their own dresses from J.Crew and Free People, while Cheyenne stunned in a column-style lace gown from Atelier des Modistes. We love the green garland details on Cheyenne and John’s stationery from Painted Tongue Studios and menu cards from Fairmount Creates, which ties in with the rustic look of the venue. Events by Satra helped the couple coordinate the day, ensuring that every detail was perfect.
