Sophisticated + Bohemian Bridal Inspiration

We’re crushing pretty hard on Jennifer and Matt’s breathtaking San Francisco wedding in all its sleek black and white glory! The ceremony, held at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church, was a vision of structured elegance–starting with Jennifer’s mod Romona Keveza Collection gown (that back sash!) from Bridal Galleria and floor-length black Bill Levkoff dresses on bridesmaids. The black, ivory, and gold reception at The Olympic Club featured all white florals from Asiel Design, including centerpieces of cascading white orchids that are simply stunning. We love the personal touch of hand-carved shorebirds on the tables, done by Jennifer’s decoy carver father. A dessert table with confections from SusieCakes lent an air of fun to this sophisticated affair. Perrine and Aaron’s timeless wedding in Columbus, Ohio, is one that’s just brimming with spring details! We love all of the pink and white in florals, especially the peony bouquets, from Flowers on Orchard Lane. The pretty pale colors are lovely with classic black bridesmaids dresses as well as Perrine’s Angel Rivera gown with pleated bodice. After the traditional ceremony at Saint Joseph Cathedral, guests made their way to The Country Club at Muirfield Village where they were wowed by the event design and planning by MMJ Weddings & Events. There, pops of deep blue—reminiscent of the color of Perrine’s Badgley Mischka shoes—joined more pink, white, and silver details to transform the reception hall into a beautiful backdrop for dinner and dancing. One of our favorite details is the bride, groom, and dog topper perched above the cupcakes from Nicely Made Cupcakes. We’re madly in love with these images from Jen & Jonah!

Alexa and Virgil fell in love with the Tuscan style of Villa del Sol d’Oro in Sierra Madre, California, which was the charming backdrop of their romantic outdoor wedding. Allowing the venue and the spring season to serve as inspiration, they worked with Blushing Romance to create chic florals that enhanced the surroundings. Lush peonies, ranunculus, and anemones combined with dusty miller are soft and lovely; we love the light pinks paired with black bridesmaids dresses and romantic hair styles by Raluca Bucse. Alexa’s stunning Saison Blanche Couture gown from Mary Me Bridal is slightly modern, with a shirred tulle skirt that is simply divine! Alexa and Virgil remember the entire affair as the perfect day. “The atmosphere was phenomenal!” says the bride. “Everything went so smoothly that day, we were fully enjoying our wedding and soaking in very happy moment.” We are head over heels for these gorgeous images from Diana Marie Photography!

Natives of Los Angeles, Michelle and Miguel wanted a spot for their wedding that didn’t feel like typical LA. The Legendary Park Plaza Hotel was the perfect venue for that, with its dramatic staircases, ceilings, and windows. The Dainty Lion helped Michelle and Miguel plan a celebration that was uniquely theirs, which included lush peony bouquets, baby’s breath topiaries, and pretty blooms in glass vases along tables peppered with gold sequin linens. Bridesmaids in taupe dresses were elegant, especially standing next to Michelle in a lace and tulle Pronovias gown from Bellasposa. We love Michelle’s blue Badgley Mischka shoes with sparkling brooches! Romantic touches such as floral stationery from Wedding Paper Divas and feather accents on place settings matches the drama of the location! A dessert table at the reception featured macaroons from Sweet and Saucy Shop, topped off with a cake designed by Hotcakes Bakes. Anna and Carly’s impossibly glamorous wedding is like a fairytale brought to life. For starters, Sacramento’s The Citizen Hotel is a stunning venue, with gold and ivory details by Kate Miller Events to make it even more luxe. Flourish used the same soft color palette for florals that shine–literally! We’re floored by the jewels woven in to Anna’s cream bouquet! We also love that more bling was added to the wedding cake from Sweet Cakes by Rebecca, so it sparkles like the rest of the details. Halter-style black bridesmaids dresses add another sophisticated element, as does Anna’s beaded strapless gown, all by Alfred Angelo. Oh, the gorgeousness of this wedding is enough to make our hearts stop! Jennifer and Michael chose the breathtaking San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara for their nuptials—a fabulous choice for the deep plums and lavenders that made up their color scheme. Classic bridesmaids dresses beside Jennifer’s more modern strapless gown are a stunning contrast for the outdoor ceremony. Juniper Designs worked blooms of those colors into all of the pretty bouquets and arrangements, while a simpler green and cream garland decorated the ceremony arbor. Event of the Season pulled in the royal color on the tables with linens and other details, including satin plum-colored ribbon around the delicious wedding cake. Everything about Aimee and Case’s Los Angeles, California wedding screams chic. From their classic black-and-white color palette to Aimee’s mermaid-style gown and the bridesmaids’ short black sheaths, we’re in love with the simple beauty of Aimee and Case’s outdoor fete! Held at Cafe Pinot, on the grounds of the Los Angeles Public Library, Aimee and Case’s wedding had a subtle book theme that we adore! The bride even spray painted books to complement the couple’s white centerpieces. And the escort cards? They tied back to books, too, with tables named for a few of the couple’s favorite novels and facts about the book–or the couple–on the back! Each beautiful headpiece, veil, and sash is both stunning and handmade. Guests at Tiffany and Jonathan’s Montecito Country Club wedding were first treated to a dramatic floral installation by Modern Day Design—inspired by an art exhibit the bride saw at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York—and champagne before taking their seats. Tiffany stunned in a beaded Elie Saab gown as she walked down the aisle, carrying a white peony bouquet, hand-in-hand with Jonathan. After a “somber, ceremonial, romantic” vow exchange, says the bride, everyone switched to party mode, enjoying dancing, cocktails, and cake from Montecito Confections Bakery. From beginning to (late-night) end, Lacie Hansen Photography did a beautiful job of capturing every detail!

Black, white and gold is one of our favorite color palettes because of its timelessness, and when we saw how impeccable these shades looked in Gretchen and Chadi’s wedding, we were obsessed! After a ceremony at Our Lady of Mt. Lebanon – St. Peter’s Cathedral, this Los Angeles couple stopped by Walt Disney Concert Hall for a photo session, then headed to Cicada Restaurant for a reception that will make your jaw drop! This classy venue was the perfect choice for Gretchen and Chadi’s elegant affair. The restaurant boasted a double grand staircase, sparkling chandelier and balcony lined in gold and black chevron décor. And the tabletops? Lush white florals and silver candelabras radiating candlelight served as beautiful centerpieces by Ixora Floral Studio. We love the black napkins and sophisticated gold chargers at each place setting, but we especially adore the smiles on the couple’s faces. Everything about Louise and Derek’s wedding celebration softly proclaims sophisticated city style. With a ceremony at San Francisco’s Palace of Fine Arts Theatre followed by a reception at The City Club, the elegant, artsy theme was set and only further enhanced by Louise’s Fanal by La Sposa strapless wrap gown. Simple, structured black bridesmaids dresses from Ann Taylor were striking against the sunset-colored flowers and bouquets from Flowers by D’aria Rose. A bold orange-and-yellow rose garland cascaded down an understated tiered cake by Jasmine Rae Bakery, making it a focal point of the reception decor. Jessica and Andrew’s wedding at Meadowood resort in Napa Valley was like every couple’s dream come true: gorgeous pale bouquets by Kathleen Deery Design; a gauzy, tiered-ruffle Vera Wang gown; and an all-white cake that hardly looks real from Perfect Endings. The breathtaking ceremony featured chairs wrapped in silk swags fastened with lush hydrangea-and-rose arrangements. Lisa Lefkowitz captured stunning details, like gray-blue silk tablecloths inside the reception tent, intimate vintage-inspired seating areas on the lawn, and the beautiful blue bridesmaids dresses that popped against all of the white and airy decor. Ever since she was a little girl, Natasha dreamt of getting married in an Italian villa. As soon as she and Andrew saw Pasadena’s Villa del Sol d’Oro, they knew it was the place that would make her dreams come true! Gorgeous Santa Monica California is the setting for Taryn and John’s sophisticated soirée. Their modern, glam ceremony and reception was held at the Casa Del Mar, just steps from the Santa Monica Pier. Taryn’s beautiful custom-designed gown and peep toe Christian Louboutins? Swoon! We are completely in love with all the black and white details including the stunning florals by La Fleur by Tracy and the perfectly chic cake from Vanilla Bake Shop. Elisa and Komron held a destination wedding in Palm Desert, California, that can only be described as glamorous, elegant and sparkly! Wedding planner Kelley Lee Gin mixed modern and feminine style to make the day really shine. On keeping with her vision, florist The Vines Leaf used gold and silver vessels to hold fluffy flowers, including antique hydrangeas, garden roses, ranunculus and anemones. The couple also set up a cigar and scotch lounge outside for the men! But our favorite part about this gorgeous wedding is that the couple included their dogs, Moose and Bailey, in the wedding ceremony—and brought out the most adorable puppies during cocktail hour for guests to play with! Belinda and Jim’s wedding is not only about as sophisticated and elegant as it gets, but it’s got an utterly fantastic pop of bold color throughout too! Bridesmaids in bright pink BCBG dresses, vibrant pink and red florals dripping with crystals by City of Commerce Flower, and glittering pink favors at each place setting, all set against their stunning venue Athenaeum at Caltech. The venue by itself is amazing, but then add in all these incredible details? I’m 100% smitten. Oh and add in the perfection that is Belinda’s Valentino heels? Make that 110%. Bravo to the whole team responsible for this gorgeous wedding and to Marvin Tsai for the beautiful photos!

Katie and Steve’s Malibu wedding is a fresh spin on December – winter wedding meets the beaches of Southern California – and it’s fabulous! Greenwich Floral Design used calla lilies, white peonies, and ranunculus along with silver brunia and other soft florals to create gorgeous, cool, wintry arrangements. Being a music nerd myself I may or may not have gasped just a bit out of excitement to see that “die-hard USC fan” Katie was surprised with a performance by the USC Trojan Marching Band at their reception! Very cool. Such a mix of fabulous details and wonderful photos by Heidi Ryder Photography – this is a winter wedding I’d certainly love to have attended!
