Romantic + Elegant Rustic Wedding

You know when two wedding photographers are getting married, it’s bound to be spectacular! And such is Sarah and Matt‘s magical affair at Salvage One. The industrial, whimsical locale was perfect for pastel florals from Fleur, romantic candlelight, and vintage decor from BHLDN. We adore their invites, elegant but fun with silhouettes, from Love vs. Design. Sarah said no to traditional bridesmaids and matching dresses, and instead focused on a gorgeous classic gown from J.Crew for herself paired with glittery Kate Spade shoes. Special touches at the event, coordinated by Liven It Up Events, included desserts from Molly’s Cupcakes, mini burgers from The Slide Ride food truck, and custom cloth napkins by Dot & Army. We’re swooning over the amazing images by Pen / Carlson and we know you’ll agree that it’s one of our favorites of 2013!

Jennifer and Daniel fell in love with the French-Vietnamese chapel and covered barn at Camp Lucy the moment they set eyes upon the venue just outside of Jennifer’s hometown of Austin, Texas. With a short engagement, the couple pulled together a dream team of vendors to create their rustic, elegant day. Beautiful florals from Posey Floral and Event Design brought the outside in, with eucalyptus and hydrangea trumpets flanked by low-lying peach and ivory blooms in wooden boxes. Personal details were peppered throughout, from the lace sachets handcrafted by Daniel’s grandmother, which were filled with French candies to honor Daniel’s French heritage, to the grapefruit fizz signature cocktail, the recipe crafted by the couple. We adore the fresh seafoam green bridesmaids dresses from J.Crew and Jennifer’s sleek Pronovias gown from Brickhouse Bridal,with a chic updo by Mandy Silver. Rachel and Stephen’s snowy and romantic wedding in Park City at The St. Regis Deer Valley reminds us of an elegant Parisian affair! These glamorous images from Chantel Marie Photography have us dreaming of winter in Europe. Pink and cream blooms from Calie Rose Floral & Event Design are aplenty, woven in hair wreaths for bridesmaids and sweet bouquets for Rachel and her bridesmaids. We love the mix of blush and black bridesmaids dresses from BHLDN, Nordstrom, and Watters. Rachel’s Enzoani gown is stunning, especially with her soft updo and sparkling headpiece. Morgan and Cully knew they wanted an outdoor wedding. As a little girl, Morgan and her sisters spent days at their family’s cabin horseback riding, fishing, and making lots of memories, so it seemed perfect to have their wedding there! Their families worked for months planting flowerbeds, updated the cabin, and gathering vintage china. The whole day was filled with soft-colored, vintage details and beautiful flowers by Birdie and guests were treated to locally harvested honey as favors too! Let’s all take a moment (or two) out of our day to check out this bliss-inducing Janita Mestre wedding. It’s delightfully in the desert, so of course you’re going to spot a few cacti at Galway Downs, but you’re going to see such a dreamy color palette too. Being so close to Valentine’s Day, Stephanie and Alex wanted to evoke love all throughout, so they picked pink as their go-to hue. Big and bright blush and ivory florals by Events by Floral Sensations complemented the eye-catching David’s Bridal mauve bridesmaids’ dresses, and we loved this idea, too. Instead of continuing the soft tones everywhere, shake up the colors like Stephanie and Alex and throw a deep hue in the same color family somewhere that will be seen. Adding it to the bridesmaids’ dresses was a clever touch without overwhelming the couple’s desire to have an airy feel to their wedding day.

For their Massachusetts wedding day, Alex and Chris wanted nothing but everyone to have a splendid time, good food, good drinks, and good memories being passed around. All captured through the lens of The Light and Color Wedding Photography, the Ipswich couple chose to have a traditional wedding day. Alex chose a classic A-line Hayley Paige beauty and the cherry on top of her trousseau was her mom’s veil that she donned for her day. Their ceremony was held at St. John’s Prep (fun fact: Alex is a dentist and St. John’s Prep was the same school where Alex’s boss and Chris’s dad went. The guys are still good friends!), Chris’s high school alma mater. For their wedding reception, they dressed up The Hellenic Center in shades of soft blues and pinks, and organic-style blooms designed by Chris’s sister-in-law, Teresa. Weddings like these that are centered around family and steeped in tradition always leave such a feel-good warmth to our day.

We are completely smitten with the romantic and airy feel of Jae and Robert’s wedding at The Highlands Country Club in Garrison, NY. After a gorgeous ceremony under a to-die-for floral arch, Ivie Joy Floral Arts & Events brought the feeling of a garden indoors for the reception with natural and organic arrangements of anemones, ranunculus, garden rose, dahlia, and hydrangea, in beautiful blush and white tones. Along with white chiavari chairs, the light tones were a perfect match for sleek wooden tables in the gorgeous dining room of The Highlands. Sweet details such as doughnut cufflinks (both are dessert lovers!) and a custom gown from Mika Inatome made Jae and Robert’s wedding uniquely personal to them, and the entire day is beautifully captured by Brklyn View Photography!

The picturesque shore of Lake Leelanau in Traverse City, Michigan, was a lovely gathering ground for the wedding of Ilana and Matt, who had family flying in from both coasts as well as overseas. The couple wanted a laid-back party for their “favorite people in the world,” and this one was full of style, too—from the custom sash made of feathers, moss and bark around the waist of Ilana’s J.Crew wedding gown to the casually elegant wildflower and herb arrangements from Bloom. An outdoor ceremony at Crooked Creek Ranch took advantage of the water views, while the property’s rustic barn was a gorgeous woodland scene for the reception, including a delicious four-tier cake from Aunt B’s embellished with a cascading fondant branch and leaves. These images from Harrison Studio make it clear this was one fun event—from the spirited dancing to Lady Sunshine and the X Band to the groom grabbing the mic to serenade his bride with “(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher.”

Jacquelyn and Stewart’s wedding was a labor of love. Family members and friends gathered to help craft the “simple, natural and not over the top” vision Jacquelyn had for the day. They collected wine bottles and vintage containers from flea markets, which the bride’s mother filled with fresh flowers on the wedding day. A family friend welcomed the couple and their guests onto their private estate for the affair and “as you can see we were thrilled about that and felt so blessed by it,” Jacquelyn said. White tags tied to wine corks were pinned to a board and served as the couple’s escort card display, a detail we adore! Braedon Photography captured the natural beauty of the day so well that we feel as if we are basking in the sunshine with the bride and groom!

The Resort at Paws Up has been on my dream vacation list since the moment I heard about it. Never did it cross my mind how spectacular it would be to have a wedding there. And spectacular is most certainly the word that I would use to describe Lindsay and Steven’s wedding…along with unique, thoughtful, and downright breathtaking. Bridesmaids wore separates from J Crew and French Connection and carried rustic yet elegant bouquets by Habitat Floral Studio in shades of soft peach and cranberry. We are madly in love with the gorgeous tablescapes, the horse-drawn wagon, and the positively stunning Montana scenery. The fabulous Michele M. Waite captured all of these gorgeous images – get ready to fall in love!

Sarah and Scott originally had a large celebration planned, but like many other brides, COVID changed that. In a cautious manner they decided to move forward with their wedding with just their 12 closest family and friends. Despite the small guest count, the design aspect was large. Their outdoor ceremony took place surrounded by banyan trees under the most stunning Chuppah. Reception was followed with the most divine tent with flowing florals and hints of citrus.

Sarah & Benjamin wanted guests to feel like they were entering a magical world when they arrived at their wedding and the day was full of awe-inspiring details which made that vision a reality. From getting married at the castle-like Wonderland Cluj Resort, to the horse-drawn carriage fit for royalty, to the show-stopping, jaw-droppingly lush, floor-to-ceiling florals by Elena Bodea – Las Floristas that filled both the ceremony and reception, guests were transported into a fairy tale for the day. Add to that that these two look like they walked out of a magazine themselves, and this may be one of the most dreamy weddings ever! Ellie and Drew traveled from Texas to the beautiful Capen House on Lake Osceola for an intimate wedding with their closest friends and family. Pixies and Petals ran with Ellie’s vision of a Lilly Pulitzer-inspired English garden with florals in vibrant shades of peach, raspberry, coral, and fuchsia and created a lush pink garden wonderland in the ceremony and reception space. Along with stunning florals, their day featured 3 different musicians, an epic grazing table, and even a few fun pranks! When you find out that Christine and Michael’s guest list consisted of family from 19 different states, you’ll wonder like us how they accommodated every single one of them. They happened upon Morristown, New Jersey because of its proximity to major airports and train stations: a huge plus. What they really lucked out on was The Madison Hotel-Conservatory. Cassi Claire Photography captured the breathtaking venue and its high glass walls, stark white interior with a slight industrial vibe, and the abundance of flowers already perched inside. The couple wanted to keep their colors simple, so they opted for a classic color palette so as not to detract from the conservatory itself. Apple Blossom Flower Shop created pieces with white flowers front and center and heaps of greenery strewn throughout, from the bouquets to the centerpieces. Check out local conservatories for their wedding availability; they are usually decked out in impressive flora and fauna already and are such a unique option for wedding venues.

Audrey and David had the absolute privilege at marrying at a beautiful French chateau and with the smiles on both of their faces in various photos from Romain Vaucher, their day was beyond joyful and seeped out everywhere. After a proposal in Japan, the two found Chateau de Razay to call their wedding venue. Japan is near and dear to them, so they wanted to bring the colors of a Japanese spring to their wedding, using white and green with blush pink peppered across their decor. Their ceremony was steeped in Madagascan traditions in homage to David’s heritage. The groomsmen wore Malagasy hats and the service was conducted under the Madagascan church. For motif, we love they went simple with their colors; a chateau almost never needs any excessive decor and allowing the chateau’s present decor shine like Audrey and David did will create such a memorable experience.

Valerie and Ken’s Tower Hill Botanical Garden wedding was like walking into another time. Every corner was filled with gorgeous flowers and art, every detail simple in its elegance. The greenhouses and gardens at Tower Hill inspired the color and style for their wedding. Julie Lapham Designs created arrangements with succulents and airplants, roses, eucalyptus, and anemone, and many of the succulents are now growing in the couple’s home! Seeded paper escort cards doubled as favors, a Jenga game served as the guest book, and colorful tabletops graced the Orangerie. Whitney and Matt were married on a picture perfect summer day at Charleston, SC’s historic Boone Hall Plantation. A classic color palette of blush and gold accented the rustic beauty of the location. The front lawn, with its ancient oak trees and ornate gate played host to the ceremony, and the reception on the Cotton Dock was decked out with greenery and lush blooms by Lindsay Bishop Events, with chandeliers and candles adding a touch of sparkle to the natural surroundings. Ruffled LulaKate bridesmaids dresses in peony pink added a fun pop of color and perfectly accented Whitney’s gown from Bridals by Lori. Rachel and Charlie’s Wisconsin wedding is the epitome of relaxed elegance. The only wedding ever to be held at Door County’s historical Horseshoe Bay Farms did not disappoint, as the couple worked with Carrie of Door County Event Planners to perfectly blend the grand property’s charming setting with a show-stopping reception tent for a magical result. After a waterside ceremony, guests were greeted with champagne-filled glasses for their short walk to the farm, and Rachel and Charlie embraced each guest as they entered cocktail hour under a stunning, larger than life canopy created by Flora Flowershop. The classic Sperry reception tent was filled with a sea of paper lanterns and a mix of unique tabletops, from farmhouse tables to rounds, each with a different centerpiece. A perfect Door County sunset and the glow of the tent illuminated the barns, resulting in a marvelous scene not likely to be forgotten. Every square inch of Caroline and Jack’s spring mountain wedding is vibrant, colorful, and fresh! Held at Snow Basin Ski Resort, the wedding made the most of its surroundings. A ceremony in the warm May sun featured a backdrop of the breathtaking Utah mountains. The chic reception featured vivid florals by Blossom Sweet (how stunning are the fluffy fuchsia peonies?) with rustic details, like the beautiful log vessels, and classic elements like the place cards by Karli Noel Calligraphy. FUSE Weddings and Events made sure the day went off without a hitch, and as Caroline says, the guests “could see our hearts through the simple yet elegant wedding.” We are head over heels for every image from Green Apple Photography!

We couldn’t think of a more lovely way to start the week than with a Taylor and Hagan’s fairytale wedding at Nestldown, a fairytale location set in the Santa Cruz mountains among the redwoods. The couple worked with Gavita Flora to create a setting bursting with color and whimsy, and befitting the location in its full bloom. Long farmhouse tables from Classic Party Rentals were set with crisp white china and a mixture of soft greenery, fresh fruit, and vibrant full blooms. Set against all of the colorful florals, the maids’ J.Crew gowns in the palest of ivory were angelic, but of course nothing could upstage Taylor in her stunning Hayley Paige gown from Haute Bride.
