Elegant Charleston Plantation Wedding

When Summer began planning her Charleston wedding, she envisioned live oak trees dripping with Spanish moss and a reception under a crisp white tent with the breeze flowing off the water. She and John couldn’t have selected a more perfect locale to bring the vision to life than the picturesque Lowndes Grove Plantation. As a “cocktails forever?” sign was a big part of their proposal story, a subtle theme of cocktails and champagne was chosen. A Charleston Bride made their dream a reality with details such a fantastic champagne bottle wall installation and a guest book inviting guests to “leave a message in a bottle” for the couple. Specialty cocktails were a must: a maple bacon bourbon manhattan for John, and champagne, St. Germaine, and lavender for Summer. The aforementioned reception tent was absolutely spectacular, bedecked with greenery chandeliers, textured linens, and a sea of stunning flowers designed by A Charleston Bride. Summer says “It was the perfect night filled with more love, laughter, friends, family… and of course cocktails than we could have ever imagined!” We are head over heels for every gorgeous image from Aaron and Jillian Photography!

From the bride:

Because Lowndes Grove is such an amazing setting, we wanted to stick with more neutral colors that wouldn’t distract from the natural beauty of the venue. We focused on lots of greenery and whites with a tiny bit of blush. We also incorporated some lavenders to really make the bouquets pop and pull in the bridesmaid’s dresses. We also tried to stay with more natural looking bouquets that weren’t too tight. We also took advantage of the vertical space in the tent with greenery clad chandeliers as well as taller centerpieces and greenery filled champagne walls!

Some of my favorite time was spent getting ready at Lowndes Grove in the morning with my wedding party as we listened to music and popped champagne- it was all surprisingly relaxing. I loved John’s reaction of a fist pump during our first look. I’ll never forget walking down the aisle with my dad. He never cries and was cracking jokes the entire walk from the house to the aisle, and right as we were about to take our first steps down the aisle my dad whispered to me that he was going to cry which got me teary-eyed as well.

The entire day will ultimately be one long memory that we will never forget thanks to all of our friends, families, and vendors!
