Sweet Handmade Virginia Wedding

When you find out that Christine and Michael’s guest list consisted of family from 19 different states, you’ll wonder like us how they accommodated every single one of them. They happened upon Morristown, New Jersey because of its proximity to major airports and train stations: a huge plus. What they really lucked out on was The Madison Hotel-Conservatory. Cassi Claire Photography captured the breathtaking venue and its high glass walls, stark white interior with a slight industrial vibe, and the abundance of flowers already perched inside. The couple wanted to keep their colors simple, so they opted for a classic color palette so as not to detract from the conservatory itself. Apple Blossom Flower Shop created pieces with white flowers front and center and heaps of greenery strewn throughout, from the bouquets to the centerpieces. Check out local conservatories for their wedding availability; they are usually decked out in impressive flora and fauna already and are such a unique option for wedding venues.

Danielle and Ray are New Jersey natives, so when they set out to choose their wedding venues, it was an easy decision. They chose to have the ceremony in the chapel of Danielle’s high school, and selected the nearby Park Savoy Estate for its unique homey rooms and stunning ballroom. The couple envisioned a classic ambiance, and brought a bit of a whimsical feel to the day with florals by Gardenias, which were filled with succulents, anemones, and ranunculus, all in beautiful pastel tones. After the wedding, all of their flowers were donated to local hospitals, assisted living, and hospice centers, including the center where Danielle’s grandmother lived during her last years. Danielle and Ray both come from Italian roots, so in addition to their 3-layer wedding cake, Conca D’Oro set up “Ray and Danielle’s Italian Bakery” at the end of the night for guests to take home sweet treats! The sweeping views of Public Chicago‘s Ava Terrace set the stage for Erica and Troy’s gorgeous Windy City soiree! The couple set out to create a warm and welcoming affair for their nearest and dearest, and were treated to a picture-perfect Chicago day for their October nuptials. Estera Events designed a ceremony and reception with an urban, modern touch. Erica and Troy said their vows in a circle of prairie grass and ferns, after which guests moved downstairs to the Library Bar to sip cocktails before being seated for a full five-course candlelit dinner. Vale of Enna worked with Erica and Troy to bring their modern romance theme to life with elegant florals overflowing with foliage. For the intimate reception, organic and lush arrangements of ferns, taper candles, and roses graced a large king’s table. A wedding planner herself, Erica knew that their day would go by in the blink of an eye, and made sure to take several moments throughout the evening to truly take in all of the joy. The Four Seasons Los Angeles at Beverly Hills was the perfect venue for Julie and Jonathan’s dream wedding! With the help of their wedding planner, Catherine of CCL Weddings, the couple designed a private outdoor ceremony (featuring the couple’s adorable pup, Nala) and elegant indoor reception with lush and romantic florals by Heavenly Blooms. Luxury and personality came together perfectly, with champagne escort cards that doubled as favors and a cocktail hour snack of beef jerky, the groom’s favorite! We are obsessed with every fun detail in the beautiful images from Closer to Love Photography!

It’s no wonder that classic style rules the day at Meghan and Aaron’s Chautauqua, New York, affair–after all, the wedding was held at The Hall of Philosophy at Chautauqua Institution, an education center and summer resort where Meghan’s family goes back generations. To set the tone for their day, the couple sent out vintage-style stationery designed by the groom, Aaron Fetter. Following the outdoor ceremony, where bridesmaids wore short pink Jenny Yoo Collection dresses that sweetly coordinated with hydrangea bouquets by Francesca’s Floral Design, guests headed to the resort’s Athenaeum Hotel for a laid-back reception that included a buttercream cake from The Cakery, plenty of dancing, and the release of paper sky lanterns, which lit up much the way Meghan did in her Watters gown! Michaela and Justin’s sweet and colorful wedding was held at the lovely The Farm Kitchen in Poulsbo, Washington.  The couple said “I do” surrounded by apple orchards and fields of flowers, and with the backdrop of a really fun and unique tied organza garland!  I just adore all of the casual but classic details – their burlap table runners, hand-painted cake topper, and the beautiful and delicate centerpieces created  by Melanie Benson Floral Design. Morning everyone!  I’m just now getting started on my day after a morning of watching the Royal Wedding!  Did you see it?  What is your verdict on the gown? 

Kristen and Daniel’s wedding day was filled to the brim with festivities and honored each of their family’s cultures with two separate wedding ceremonies! The celebration began with a traditional Chinese tea ceremony where the bride and groom served tea to each set of parents to show their respect and gratitude. Later in the day, Kristen changed from her vibrant red gown to a romantic lace BHLDN gown for a Jewish ceremony under a stunning chuppah decorated with blush, peach, and ivory roses and peonies by Holly Chapple Flowers. They ended the evening with dinner, dancing, and even a sparker send-off filled with cheers from all their closest friends and family. It’s no small feat to transform the indoors into the outdoors, but when Whitney and Steven wanted their museum wedding to have a natural garden vibe, Ann Travis Events helped them do just that. Together, they created an environment that was relaxed and fun with a reception layout encouraging guests to mingle, sample foods brought in from all over the city, and even tour the museum on their own, all under the most lush and beautiful garlands of greenery woven into twinkling cafe lights. Studio Terrain not only worked their magic at the reception, but also in the stunning garden-inspired bouquets filled with dahlias, zinnias, roses, and Queen Anne’s lace, all in the softest shades of pink, peach, and ivory. We love this absolutely classic féte hailing from an illustrious museum in our nation’s capital today. This Washington DC wedding was photographed by one of our favorites, Lisa Blume, and it is elegant and so special and timeless. According to Kelly, she couldn’t take her mind off of the National Museum of Women in the Arts’s design and sweetly, how she could picture traipsing down the staircase to meet her dear dad at the bottom to walk her down the aisle to her beau Jamie (tears!). Speaking of tears, we had to mention this touching detail. Kelly needed to have her grandmothers there in some way, so to commemorate these wonderful women in her life, she shipped in two paintings from North Carolina of them and had her grandmother’s tea cup in her bridal suite. Endearingly, the teacup was a gift her grandmother gave to her sister for her wedding.

If you’ve been dreaming of something sophisticated and elegant for your big day, but want to keep the nuptials intimate, a modern rooftop elopement couldn’t be more ideal. With just you and your fiancé, your closest friends, and the stunning Chicago skyline as the backdrop, this urban elopement is modern sophistication at its finest! Timeless watches by Movado from Kay Jewelers were the perfect gifts to accompany the chic setting, captured beautifully by Belen Aquino of Gerber Scarpelli Weddings.

Debbie and Johnny may have started their relationship on different continents, but that was no match for this couple as they have trotted across the globe together! They ultimately settled in Texas alongside both of their families, and chose to hold an intimate wedding in Grapevine’s The Laurel. Sarah of Keestone Events crafted a romantic and classic wedding with a modern twist. Debbie loves neutral feminine colors and selected a peach and blush palette with pops of gold and sage, and Petals Couture created lovely garden-style arrangements to accentuate the dramatic ballroom. Debbie’s Justin Alexander gown is positively stunning, and her maids selected pink frocks from Azazie. Photography was incredibly important to the couple, and the fine art style of Allen Tsai was a perfect match – we are smitten!

Susan and Riley fell in love with La Quinta, California on a post-engagement mini-moon, and knew it would be the perfect place to tie the knot! Working with All Things Extraordinary as they planned from afar in Chicago, they selected a private estate surrounded by mountains, palm trees, and cacti for their elegant “backyard” wedding with a buffet-style taco dinner! Their desert chic soiree was a three-day affair and the party carried all the way from the margarita karaoke welcome party by the pool to the spectacular reception where guests danced the night away under twinkle lights and the desert stars. Mix and match Jenny Yoo and Lulu’s bridesmaids dresses in a palette of sage and slate were a nod to the natural surroundings, and greenery garlands graced the long wood reception tables. The entire event is perfectly organic and chic! Every moment is beautifully captured by the fantastic Damaris Mia Photography!

Sara and Conner met while were both were on vacation in Nashville. There was an instant connection, and after spending as much time together as possible during that trip, they began dating long distance and were married at Nashville’s Cedarwood just over a year later. Their festive, intimate dinner party was a nod to Sara’s Southern roots. Magnolia leaf place cards were set atop each place setting on long wooden tables where each flower was handpicked by the bride. The couple’s monogram was sprinkled throughout, even on the wreath above the historic home’s door. From their ceremony on the rolling hills of the estate to the reception glimmering with candlelight, we are smitten with this entire day, beautifully photographed by Erin Lee Allender!

Erin grew up spending summers nearby Horseshoe Bay Resort, so when selecting their wedding venue, she and Alex knew it would be the perfect choice! Situated an hour outside of Austin, the picturesque lakeside location is naturally gorgeous, and the couple selected their color palette of French blue and sage green based upon the surroundings. Working with Eclipse Event Co., Erin and Alex formed a cohesive vision: clean, classic, and welcoming. Erin shares “I wanted elegant yet un-fussy florals, which Gypsy Floral and Events translated into works of floral art.” With painterly arrangements set inside ginger jars and a showstopping hanging arrangement adorning the ceremony pavilion, we have to agree that these florals are heavenly! Christina and Jack envisioned the biggest celebration of their lives to be a romantic, timeless wedding, celebrated with their closest family and friends. Their top priority was atmosphere and food, and The Crescent in downtown Dallas, with its outdoor ceremony courtyard and modern chic ballroom was the perfect choice! The couple worked with Sarah of Keestone Events and selected classic blush and ivory tones, warm greenery, and pops of metallic gold for a whimsical flair. Personal details abound, from the stationery and garter, both created by the maid of honor, and lavender candle favors, handmade by Christina and her family. Christina chose a stunning lace Essense of Australia gown, which subtly echoed the intricate ironwork on the terrace of The Crescent, and her maids donned comfy convertible dresses from Lulu’s. We are absolutely smitten with the beautiful images captured on film by Allen Tsai Photography!

Haley and Jay were married at Haley’s family home in Trenton, SC. The sprawling lawn backs up to a pond, and their ceremony on the dock over he water was both unique and memorable. In addition to the sentimental location, this classic Southern soiree featured some of the most gorgeous florals you ever will see! Lisa Rhodes of Fleur de Lis created a stunning ceremony arbor and fantastic bouquets with fluffy peonies and garden roses in shades of pink and coral that perfectly accentuated the lace bridal gown and crisp white bridesmaids dresses from Elegant Bridals. The tented backyard reception featured jars of Haley’s father’s famous homemade barbecue sauce as favors, a boat full of beer, and some special quiet time spent by the couple on Haley’s childhood playground. This sweet South Carolina wedding is one for the books, and we’re loving the images from Common Dove Photography!

Charleston, South Carolina’s charming Middleton Place—home to America’s oldest landscaped garden—was the idyllic setting for Jessalyn and Jefferson’s timeless spring wedding. A ceremony in the gardens was followed by a beautiful tented recetpion designed by A Charleston Bride. The Sperry Tent was festooned with greenery chandeliers by Palmetto Bloom, which paired beautifully with organic garden-style centerpieces. Loose, natural bouquets perfectly accented Jessalyn’s Pnina Tornai gown and her maids’ pale pink Hayley Paige Occasions dresses. Boston’s Lenox Hotel is a historic boutique hotel in the heart of downtown, and Elizabeth and Michael’s vintage theme was a perfect complement to the graceful architecture of the venue. A color palette of soft petal pink, peach, and gold was brought to life with gorgeous florals by Table and Tulip. Elizabeth’s bouquet of gorgeous peach amaryllis, ranunculus, hydrangea, roses, and tulips may be one of our favorites in recent memory! Set against a lace Pronovias gown, the look is absolute perfection. Whimsical details filled the day, from the single bud flower curtain to the rose petal lined ceremony aisle, and the Boston summer weather could not have been more lovely.
