When you combine the rolling hills of the Edna Valley with an evening dinner party celebrating true love, you have a truly magical day! Elizabeth and River selected the Center of Effort Winery for their Central California wedding, and chose a color palette of shades of of blue and purple, which made the rugged backdrop even more beautiful! Vanessa Noel Events worked with the couple to design an event full of unique details: the seating chart was displayed on lanterns, textured blue velvet linens from La Tavola Linen graced the farmhouse tables, and a fabulous dessert table from Paper Cake Events with woodland florals by Noonan’s Wine Country Designs was a showstopping addition to the intimate outdoor affair. You won’t want to miss a single moment in these gorgeous images by Anna Delores Photography!

In their own words
How did you meet?
We met playing rugby in college when River was a senior, and Liz was a freshman. After months of having a crush on her, River finally got up the courage to ask Liz out, and we’ve been together ever since! We started our journey together in Portland, Oregon, followed by New York City for River’s law school, and then a small town in rural West Virginia for Liz’s medical school, before finally moving to the beautiful central coast of California together. We had been together 12 days short of 9 years on our wedding day!
What is your proposal story?
Throughout our entire relationship, River had always said that he never wanted to get married. However, when Liz was gone for a month for a rotation during medical school, distance must have made the heart grow fonder, and River changed his mind. Having no idea what her ring size was, River used his parent’s assistance to obtain it without arousing suspicion at their favorite jewelry store, where he would later have her ring custom made. He was planning on waiting until their anniversary to whisk her off somewhere special to propose, but once he had the ring, he couldn’t wait any longer. Knowing that Christmas is Liz’s favorite holiday, and her entire family would be in town, River proposed Christmas afternoon, at the end of a walk in a beautiful little gazebo overlooking Puget Sound.
What was the most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip?
The most important aspect of the day to the groom was having the best of the best food and drinks, and for the bride was having an overall beautiful feeling and atmosphere. Both were achieved with style and grace. We decided to go with more of a fancy dinner party theme to the wedding rather than a dance party focus, and found that it fit our personalities perfectly.
