Colorful Boston Botanical Garden Wedding

Valerie and Ken’s Tower Hill Botanical Garden wedding was like walking into another time. Every corner was filled with gorgeous flowers and art, every detail simple in its elegance. The greenhouses and gardens at Tower Hill inspired the color and style for their wedding. Julie Lapham Designs created arrangements with succulents and airplants, roses, eucalyptus, and anemone, and many of the succulents are now growing in the couple’s home! Seeded paper escort cards doubled as favors, a Jenga game served as the guest book, and colorful tabletops graced the Orangerie. We’re simply in love with every moment captured by Arielle Doneson Photography!

In their own words

How did you meet?
We meet through a mutual friend while snowboarding. We were friends for about a year before we starting dating. We all continue to go on snowboarding trips, and we were thrilled when the friend who introduced us agreed to marry us!

What is your proposal story?
Kenny proposed the day before Valentine’s Day, and totally surprised me! He took me back to a The Journeyman, where we had a first REALLY fancy date. it was a wonderful evening with a chef’s tasting menu and wine pairing, and since it was the day before Valentine’s Day we had the place to ourselves. I went to use the powder room and when I came back Ken was standing up, and then got down on one knee to pop the question and the rest is history!

What was the most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip?
We wanted to make sure the food was excellent – we both love food! We also thought carefully on our photographer because we felt it was so important to capture the memories of the day.

What were your favorite parts of the day?
We loved our ceremony. Our friend Alex did a wonderful job, it was short but sweet but that really worked for us. We also loved getting to celebrate with friends and family from near and far. Our wedding was the first time so many of the people we love and care about were all together in one place, and it’s really special to be surround by so much love.

Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?
There are so many options, and so many things you can do for your wedding. Make sure you make it about you as a couple, and do whatever makes you happiest.
