When Loreal and John chose New Orleans for their destination wedding, they knew they wanted their guests to experience the best of the French Quarter. After a romantic first look in some of the most beautiful streets of the city, the couple exchanged vows and then kicked off the celebration with Kinfolk Brass Band leading a second line to their reception at the elegant Marché. Dinner was a Creole feast complete with beignets and café au lait for dessert. Finally, Kinfolk rounded everyone up one last time and led the party over to Pat O’Brien’s since no NOLA-centric soiree would be complete without a visit to try their Hurricaines! Laissez les bon temps rouler with these beautiful photos from Lance Nicoll!

In their own words
What was the most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip?
We really wanted to go big on the venue, second line, band and food. We tried to keep the flowers simple and had a simple but amazing and traditional dessert instead of a cake, the beignet avec cafe au lait! Everyone loved it! I was obsessed with the “Party Animal” Escort cards.
What were your favorite parts of the day?Â
Taking over the Quarter with the Second Line, twice! Once after the ceremony and again after the reception. Amazing! All of guests are still talking about the Second Lines to this day! Everything was phenomenal. New Orleans and our dream team did not disappoint. Even the weather was phenomenal.
What did you do for favors?
Zappos chips, hangover kits & maps of things to do in New Orleans
Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?
Start planning as soon as possible and try to break it up into small tasks to complete together and on your own to make it more fun. Ask friends what went wrong with their weddings so you know what to expect and how to best avoid it. Look online for ideas, I was inspired on Instagram so much and I never thought I would turn to Instagram to chose between vendors but it truly does help make the choice clear!
