Classic, Timeless Elegance with a Vintage Twist

This couple’s stunning wedding occurred at Pig Hill Farm in Webster County Wv. Don’t let the name deceive you, the wedding was nothing short of magical in every way. Taylor Surprised Nate and sang their song as she walked down the aisle; he couldn’t contain his tears. Every decision Taylor made in the planning of her wedding was to show Nate how much she loved him.

Taylor and Nate surprised the guests and sang their vision of the theme song to the Little Mermaid during the reception. Nate played the piano, and Taylor blew the guest with her vocal capabilities. The two wrapped the night up, snuggled in the corner, taking the emotions of the day in, and enjoyed every last second.

How did you meet?

We met like any millennial couple meets during a global pandemic, Tinder! We know, we know, Tinder? But for us, deciding to swipe right on each other changed our lives. Instantly we knew that the type of connection that we had was not your normal Tinder match. All of the sudden it completely made sense as to why it never worked with anyone else. Who would have ever thought that it would take a global pandemic for two people to find their perfect match? Certainly not us, but we are eternally grateful that we were brought together, no matter what the cause might have been. We are most definitely better together.

What is your proposal story?

We were on a Thanksgiving trip with my family at Anna Maria Island. There is a restaurant on the island called “The Beachhouse” that has THE BEST view of the sunset and your table is in the sand, its beautiful! We went there for dinner and took a walk on the beach during Sunset while we were waiting on our table. Right as the sun went down he kissed my head, whispered in my ear that he loved me, and then got down on his knee and pulled out my DREAM RING! It was perfect, I was completely in shock, and it was everything I had ever wanted including the most wonderful man who was promising me forever! After we had dinner and went back to our beach house, my family threw up a surprise engagement party! Seriously the best night ever!!

Tell us a little a bit about your wedding.

I am a classic. When I thought about my wedding I knew that I wanted something classy, elegant, and timeless. I wanted to be able to look back at my wedding and no matter what was “trendy” be able to still love everything about that day. So whites, greenery, and golds were the move! I loved the look of vintage gold candle sticks and vintage ornate gold mirrors. My mom and I searched every thrift shop, GoodWill, resale store, estate sale, and garage sale within a 100 mile radius to find the vintage candle sticks and mirrors that we needed. And the amount of times I met some random person that I found on Facebook Market Place just to get something for the wedding is too high to count! But, it was worth it and in the end everything came together better than I could have ever expected. The day was the perfect combination of classic, timeless, and elegance.

Tell us about your attire choices.

Like I said before, I am a classic and I wanted my dress and the rest of my bridal party to reflect that. My dress was simple, but my veil was a show stopper! The skirt was satin and the bodice was lacey and had just enough sparkle to shine in the sun. The veil was made specifically for the dress. It was cathedral length and had the same matching lace that was on the bodice of the dress.

The men wore light blue tuxes with champagne accessories that matched seamlessly with the bridesmaids dresses. It was a beautiful summer, elegant look and I could not have been happier with the ending result!

What was the most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip?

Believe it or not, the most important thing to us while planning was a photobooth! We had been to another wedding that had a photobooth that we had a blast with, so we knew that we had to have one at our wedding! It was so much fun to dress up with our guests and use the props to make the silliest photos! We would definitely suggest it to other couples!

What were your favorite parts of the day?

Wow, favorite parts of the day? Such a loaded question! There were countless parts of the that I could categorize as perfect and ones that I never want to forget.. but my favorite moment was toward the end of the night. Some of our guests had already made their way home for the night but the rest of us were still on the dance floor! My brand-new husband and I were in the very center of a circle that had formed on the dance floor while our favorite people were surrounding us while singing and dancing. I remember seeing my mom and dad dancing and singing — our best friends dancing and singing — other family members dancing and singing — and it was genuinely one of the best moments of my life. In that moment, with so many people that I loved surrounding me and the love of my life, it is one I will remember forever. We then capped off the night by us all being arm in arm while singing “Country Roads” (can’t be a West Virginia Wedding without “Country Roads”). It was bliss and something that I will remember for the rest of my life.

Also — One of my very favorite moments — I surprised my husband by singing as I came down the aisle. It was a secret that only my mom, dad, and sister knew for about 8 months! I couldn’t think of a better way to tell my husband just how much I loved him other than singing “I Get To Love You” while I walked towards him to seal our future. He bawled like a baby the entire time — it was a very special and sweet moment for us.

Tell us about your wedding flowers.

I have, without a doubt, the best mother in the entire world who did ALL of my flowers. And let me get something straight, my mom is not a florist. She is an elementary school teacher, but looking at my wedding you would have never known. They were perfect, beautiful and the exact vision I had in my head. I am extremely lucky to have a mom who was right with me throughout the wedding process. Honestly, without her none of it could have happened.

What did you do for favors?

I have been to a lot of weddings where favors were given out, and I hate to say it, but more often then not they end up in the trash. So when we were in the process of planning, I knew that I didn’t want to waste money on a favor that guests were enviably going to end up putting in the trash. So I thought, what can I give my guests that I can be sure they will not just throw away? And only one thing came to my mind, food! So we hired a local bakery to make personalized cookies for each guest. Each cookie had a B on it for our last name (Browning) and were decorated with greenery and white flowers that matched out wedding vibe and color scheme. They were a hit among our guest, and even better none ended up in the trash!

Please describe any DIY, handmade, or personal details.

Almost everything at my wedding was DIY or handmade. Like I said before, my mom is superwoman and went above and beyond to make my wedding everything I could have ever dreamed of and more! It was the best day of my life and my husband and I talk constantly about how we wish we could relive our day over and over and over!

Did you include any family heirlooms or special traditions?

Not a family heirloom, but something that was very special to me — My grandmother was the matriarch of our family, and when she passed away a huge whole was left in the hearts of everyone in our family. Even though she passed a couple years ago, memories of her and stories of her are shared constantly in my family. Without me knowing, my mom tied and small picture of my grandmother to my bouquet so that she was with me on my special day. I didn’t see the addition to my bouquet until I was in my dress and about 20 minutes from walking down the aisle. Luckily my photographer happened to be there and caught the moment of me seeing the picture for the first time. I obviously cried, happy and sad tears, but having her picture with me on my bouquet while I married the love of my life was really special.

Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?

I have two pieces of advice —

1) Ultimately it is your day, so make it exactly what you want it to be. Don’t make decisions to please anyone else but you and your future spouse. Your wedding day is one that you will remember for the rest of your life, and you want it to be the day that YOU wanted, not anyone else.

And 2) Find someone who can be your right hand throughout the wedding planning process – someone who you trust and that can help make your vision come to fruition. For me, that person was my mom. She was at my side for the entire process. Honestly, I couldn’t have done any of it without her. I am eternally thankful for every single thing she did to prepare for the wedding and I will never truly be able to express to her just how thankful I am for all of it. Even though I’m a married woman now, I will always need my mom and I love her endlessly.

Did any of your wedding pros deliver a standout experience? Let us know the details!

There were so many of our vendors that did an amazing job! Everything from our photographer, videographer, venue, DJ, and photobooth company were all wonderful. I would recommend any and all of those wedding professionals to anyone planning a wedding in the near future!
