This beautiful pink and navy wedding at Cross Keys Vineyard, nestled in the stunning Shenandoah Valley at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains, is nothing short of enchanting. The bride and groom, who first met in college—a romantic detail that adds even more magic to their story—infused their celebration with traditional vintage elements in their floral design and wedding details. Their main focus was ensuring that every guest had an unforgettable experience, and from the looks of it, they succeeded beautifully!

How did you meet?
We met as students at James Madison University
What is your proposal story?
Martin proposed on December 23, 2020 on the quad at JMU.
Tell us a little a bit about your wedding
We decided to have our wedding and reception at CrossKeys Vineyard in Rockingham County, Va. The venue has the most amazing mountain scenery/views, incredible wine and menu options plus a gorgeous location for reception. Our wedding was in May so we decided on pastel colors. Light blue, pink and white flowers. Hydrangea, roses, delphinium, ranunculus. Our wedding was very detailed and traditional.
Tell us about your attire choices.
Our bridesmaids wore pale blue dresses and groomsmen wore navy suits.
What was the most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip?
Must important to us was that the guests had a fun and memorable evening. We wanted a religious ceremony and a fun, party reception/celebration. We splurged on a great band and top shelf alcohol, specialty cocktails, and delicious food!
What were your favorite parts of the day?
Our minister was awesome and the ceremony was beautiful with a harpist and soloist. Dancing and partying with all of our friends and family was the best ever!! It was so much fun! The sparkler send off looked beautiful and those pictures turned out amazing.
Tell us about your wedding flowers.
GORGEOUS. The flowers were the prettiest I’d ever seen and most commented on part of our wedding overall. Blue & white hydrangea table runner on head table. Tiered arrangements matching bridal bouquet on tables and ceremony decor consisting of Pink Mondial roses, delphinium, ranunculus. Seasons of Williamsburg outdid themselves with all of our floral arrangements!
Tell us about your wedding cake.
Cake was 5 tiers and assorted flavors. Almond with raspberry filling was must popular followed with devils food and peanut butter filling and a lemon top tier. The cake was very detailed in all white frosting. Our topper was a fun, beachy theme: 2 his/hers Adirondack chairs, “sand”, mini wine glasses.
What did you do for favors?
A dear friend made delicious and beautiful heart shaped/monogrammed cookies.
Please describe any DIY, handmade, or personal details.
Friend if the bride made ornate, beaded sneakers for the reception. Family friend made monogrammed, heart shaped cookie for favors.
Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?
Focus on the big pieces and splurge on those: food, drink, music, flowers. Don’t stress over the small stuff. I am very traditional so we did not spend a lot of time or money on trendy details.
Did any of your wedding pros deliver a standout experience? Let us know the details!
All if the pros were EXCELLENT! Photographers, Florist, Band, Harpist, Officiant and then everyone at the venue…. Just the very best and it all came together for a gorgeous wedding day!!!
