My problem

As many of you know or have read, my husband and I will be celebrating our tenth anniversary next year by renewing our vows.  We did not have a wedding the first time around, so there are definitely elements of my vow renewal that are wedding-like, but I don’t want it to be too bridal, more like a gigantic party.

So obviously I’ve been collecting all sorts of inspirations for my event and starting many many DIY projects (hence the start of this blog, as a creative outlet), but here’s my problem.

I LIKE EVERYTHING.

I see pretty ceramic birds, I want them.  I see wreaths around doggies’ heads and I’m all ready to dress up my pup.  Guest books, photo booths, wishing trees, CHECK!  I see place cards done setting in cute little silver chairs and I want them, but then I see names calligraphed on the menu instead and I think I might want that.  I alternate between wanting to DIY favors that are CDs, votive candles, photo albums, little boxes of trinkets or candy, and even learning to crochet so I can make the adorable mini crocheted cupcakes people are blogging about.  Now, mini crocheted cupcakes are adorable but they definitely do not fit my theme.  But that doesn’t change the fact that I’m enamored with all things wedding.  It’s even extending into food where I want four different types of dessert, a five course dinner, and a late-night grazing station.  My guests would be literally ROLLING out the door!

Does this happen to everyone, this wedding sickness?  I mean, I’ve *always* loved weddings and I adore helping my friends to plan theirs – and obviously as an invitation designer I’m hugely into DIY’ing just about anything.  But this is bad.  I literally want to incorporate every idea I love into my big event.  And there are SO many great ideas out there, thanks to all of the blogs and internet articles that we all read and the even good old fashioned magazines.

How do you take all of the ideas you love and incorporate them in without feeling like you’re trying to do everything?  Did you all have this problem?  What did you do to streamline yourself and make sure you were staying on point?

Advice please!
